Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax-deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:

    ** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
    **A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

Talisker Storm is my go to “you have to try this” whisky. The layers of flavors and complexity is noteworthy. It’s like if you loaded oak barrels full of dried fruit onto a Spanish galleon and set it to sail in a choppy sea, lit it on fire, then bottled the result.

bclem15 I absolutely agree. Gal pals who show dismay at what they perceive as pungent and smokey are much more receptive to any Tallisker...the 10 is a great apprentice level .... there is no bad Tallisker n my eyes 😇🤓🥃😍

Matthew Morin I have both of these. I can't decide which one I like better. I started with Storm and then 10yr. From my experience, I think I like the 10 better as it keeps changing as you drink it. But if you only had the storm, that's just fine; you ain't missing much.
I'd love a complete tasting kit from Talisker.

The first time I tried Talisker was 10 years ago at the distillery. I’m from the East coast of Scotland and as much as I love Speyside whiskies they do have a characteristic flavour that makes it difficult for a novice to distinguish one from the other. Talisker is a whisky that delivers so much of its home in a bottle no matter where you drink it. Every sip brings you back to the Isle of Skye.

I like that we're of a mind about Talisker vs. Talisker Storm. I got the Talisker Storm months ago because it's less expensive at my local store, then got Talisker last week. I agree that the Storm has more character, while still enjoying the Talisker 10.
As a geeky, related side-note, it's weird that Widen chose Clan MacLeod for The Highlander, since he was so specific about where Connor was born (in Glenfinnan, near the shore of Loch Shiel), when the actual MacLeods lived on Skye and the Isle of Lewis...

Love the videos they make my day when there uploaded ! Only thing I have to say is your not drinking whisky right ! The general rule of whisky (mostly scotches) is that however old the youngest barrel is you keep the sip in your mouth and swill it round. Say it’s a Jura 18 year old, keep it in your mouth for 18 seconds and swill it round then after the 18 seconds (more if you want to) swallow and you’ll get a completely different flavour without any burn or sharpness. You’ll really get to enjoy the flavours properly. I’ve worked in the whisky business for 10+ years so sorry I’m not trying to be pretentious. Love the vids once again .

"You cannot blame me for enjoying the steps along the way"
    -Daniel "Bilbo Baggins" Whittington
That may just be the hobbitiest thing I've ever heard.
Also congrats on the opening. I dug watching the live stream, except for the part where it cut out, right after the Cult showed up. I hope the footage wasn't totally lost and is part of some plan to be shared later. BUT I have I've question for you gentlemen,
Who tucks the baby soy bean into bed?
    The edamame.

Wait.....some people don't like Talisker. Who are these people I either have to A) educate them B) erradicate them C) avoid them D) Just pour them a Balcones Baby Blue and then sit back and smugly enjoy my Talisker :)

    • @sgtsagara02
      @sgtsagara02 Před 6 lety +2

Bobby Parnell I don't see how someone could not enjoy Talisker.

If it gets me pours of D) Balcones and A) multiple Talisker expressions, I'd be willing to make such a silly statement. :) But instead of baby blue, could it be Brimstone? I was saving it for near the end of the tasting and they ran out before I was ready. :(

Anyone tried the crown royal texas mesquite?
I am very curious how it compares to another american hard wood smoked whiskey (like the american single malts that are using wood...brimstone, rimfire, etc), as those others don't distribute in my area.

With respect to whiskey, would you consider the arguement that taste is subjective but quality is not. Meaning most people would agree on good vs bad whiskey but they may pick out different flavors.
