Great interview. Fisker Inc has its own compelling plan. Wishing Fisker and team all the best for great execution that can delight customers with great products and experience. I ordered two Oceans.
cool EV...i owned a fisker karma #46 out of the first 100 ...love it ..now i have the new Karma revero #77 out of the first 100 i love it even more.....i will order the fisker ocean ..love fiskers ideas an design. hope he will get into the car market the solid state battery tech soon
Honestly I didn't give Fisker much of a chance until I saw this show. I've seen Henrik in other interviews but Autoline got him down to talking the nuts and bolts of his plan. I like it. Sure, he will be be relying on vendors _but that is how business works._ companies like Magna, Bosch, LG, and countless electronics suppliers each focus on their area of expertise. Automotive suppliers already know the things Tesla is having to learn every time a door latch, window regulator, or headlight assembly fails. Painful experience has taught me that we can't all be expert on every component. The main drawback I see with Fisker's plan is that having final assembly and inspection done by shops and people you do not directly control exposes them to issues at the assembly plant that is beyond their control. Labor problems or a sudden large order from other products being assembled in the plant could lead to delays or quality problems. this is not an insurmountable problem, but a real one. Henrik knows how to design a desirable car. This could go really well. I may buy a few shares just to remind me to follow the company.
Was sad to see the karma end, glad to see Hendrick back and the new car looks fantastic as all his designs were. With Magnas backing while having a non legacy automaker company structure I can see this going well!
Surprised at how many people in the comment thread that are bad mouthing Fisker. Must be a bunch of shorts. I’m a proud shareholder. Henrik Fisker is back with a vengeance. He will succeed.
Do you know all the failed cars he tried to build? research and you'll see why people are suspicious. designs look really nice. Engineering not so much.
I hope he succeeds with the Ocean. It couldn't be more different from the Karma, which was a disaster. Henrik seems to have learned from that, but making the Ocean anything more than a niche product will be big uphill battle, given how far ahead Tesla is. And the fact that he won't acknowledge Tesla's unique technology, which would break his narrative, gives me pause.
@@brandoYT That seems to be his main problem, he makes a great design, but his planning for mass manufacturing is a skill that so far he has not shown.
To all of you who commented on my comment clearly have not done your due diligence. Fisker has outsourced their manufacturing to Magna International, a very legit company. Where Henrik had failed in the past, he has learned. The guy is back with a vengeance. Check back on this thread in 5 years. 😉
@@420manonthemoon16 But I will bet you will not be here, just using an outside manufacturer does not make a design a success. You are assuming the design is something that can be made as cheap as he claims. You are assuming the manufacturer will not compete against him. You are assuming a better design will not come on the market.
Good show. Fisker is thoughtful, articulate and resilient. I think he will show there is actually second act in America. So refreshing after listening that other prominent EV guy, Mr Hype'nfib.
A shared platform sounds like a good idea just incase Fisker goes bankrupt again at least FCA can service it. The biggest problem is there's no fast charging infrastructure for Fisker. Other than Tesla nobody has a great fast charging infrastructure and I don't see one coming anytime soon.
Apple doesn't have a low end product. If you want to buy a cheap smartphone there's only one alternative, an Android phone. Why is that? Because Apple doesn't own their own factories, they aren't vertically integrated, they don't control their own physical product costs. Fisker isn't going to be able to get the costs down to where Tesla is going, because Magna has to get its cut too, and Magna simply isn't as cost competitive as Tesla. They don't work as hard to get rid of redundant processes and useless transportation and packaging costs. I think $37,500 is a pipe dream. That said, Fisker is derisking their business plan to choose Magna as a production partner. They won't be able to get their costs as low, but at least initially that's not as important as having a proven partner that can handle much of the hard part of designing and producing an automobile.
28:20 Henrik suggests his added value will be through optimizing the powertrain. But that's all part of the Magna platform, so how is that within Fiscar's scope?
The Ocean is an OK looking car (ID-4 like), hope they can make it work, but it's a long shot, the hard work is still to be done. I have 100% faith Magna can build the car and have good quality, but Fisker paying Magna, , and then selling and servicing the cars is more of the risk area. As for the stock, it's a speculator paradise, most EV stocks are overvalued right now, smarter to wait and see on these companies.
IMHO, large grills are UGLY, as is yours. Although it's lower, it's still aesthetically too big. I suggest you figure out how to make a grill < half that size ram air where needed
Henrik should have learned by now to stick to design. Period. "Never give up....finding ways to lose other people's money" - Henrik Fisher Now Henrik is a bona fide automotive design celebrity but all that talk about pushing the cab forward, pushing the wheels out to the corners, interior space, etc is basically rehashing what Elon said in the Model 3 reveal event in March 2016

@@Realgordongekko look how many have already tried & failed and Tesla still isn't really successful despite having relatively little competition globally apart from China. Don't be fooled by the stock performance as the *profits* have been miniscule so far and inflated by selling credits. And the company keeps releasing less & less real info and as soon as a previously favorable number goes a bit sour, it's no longer reported or folded into something else. I like a lot of what they've done but their execution leaves a LOT to be desired and I'm convinced that, much more than is typical, they've been playing accounting games for years.
cost, cost, cost, cost, cost, cost, my goodness, you can not sell a 30 thousand dollar car to the masses, the 1st. company that can build, and sell and reliable, stylish, electric car that provides reliable performance to and fro, that will be the GO GO GO! $20 thousand dollar car, come one now, millions of Americans are living on less than $20 per hour with other expenses, a huge used car market could be upset by a new affordable electric replacement with integration to day to day life of the AVERAGE consumer, Yes, Volume is key, not the $100K household, you need to target the $45K households! Then you change the world and the scale will come, would you be ready to produce so many? Is that not the real issue here? Scale to production Volume that the engineering cost is typically recouped by the HIGH end market, but I think we could fire up the low end 1st. and the volume would lend to more $ in the long term. Can the people who are investing afford to scale this? My 2 cents LOL
Thanks for having me on today! Great to speak with Henrik and really enjoyed the EV conversations. Looking forward to more in the future!

Where are we going to be able to service the vehicles? Ex: If I am located in the area of Orlando, FL?
