  • Will a master cylinder rebuild restore stopping power in my 1992 Oltcit? It's a cast-off Citroen design built in Romania if you were wondering. It's ace.

When I started messing with cars we always rebuilt brake cylinders. It was only successful about 50 percent of the time but still worth a go as parts were very expensive. Good motor factors could match a seal from the old one.
Also bleed screws were a luxury as they had usually been snapped off however there is always a way to bleed stuff without the bleader if you think about it hard enough.

This is a 11R. Might have some Dacia (Renault 12) parts. In the late 80, due to Ceausescu’s policy on imports, they had Dacia wheels which made the car look wider. Also, they has some brake parts here and there. However, after 1990, until the end of production, they went back to Citroen parts.
Yours is a 11R which has, I think, the 1100 cc engine. It is aircooled and, if I’m not wrong, a V4 displacement. Former owners used to complain about ignitiom and fuel system, it was a pain in the ass to make everything work.
Make sure you have a plastic plate that you slide in the front of the fan in the winter. As it is an aircooled engine, you might have trouble with the cabin heating. That is why that plate is important. If you don’t have it, you can make one.
