@Daniel Zhang The only reason to buy Nissan these days is the cheap lease. Other than that, they tend to be unexceptional in most areas. Pity it turned out that way. Former Altima owner, with other Nissans in the family, and I find nothing compelling enough to even justify a test drive for comparison purposes.

True that my Tuned twin turbo Q50 is a blast to drive the thing has tire shredding torque and ive upset some 5.0’s and scatpacks, the 7 speed trans is just too outdated though.

@Juan Quintero 100k miles transaxle life is not acceptable. I would _love_ to buy a Maxima or Altima with a conventional 6-speed manual or automatic. I remember how much Renault “helped” Chrysler in the late 80’s: that company was never the same afterward. Have a good day.

Renault doen't use CVT's in their cars, they only use DCT's. Nissan owns Jatco, that's why they use so many CVT's as it's the only transmission they make for front wheel drive models.

@Benjamin V The 2020 Renault Duster, Koleos, Triber, and Clio have CVT transmissions. Not sure if Jatco supplied or not. I had a Jatco 4-speed auto in a 1990 Pathfinder and it made it through my ownership to 180k miles without any problem.

@vvvVFANGSVvvv it depends on how you take care of your transmission. what a lot of owners wont say they did was change the fluid at the right time. Going 75K miles on the fluid wont let the CVT have its life expectancy.
People dont go to dealerships anymore for maintenance because its expensive. However Jiffylube wont tell you your transmission fluid needs changing. Nissan will.
You have to take care of your maintenance in order for it to take care of you. Part of owning a car.

I took a new Sentra out just before the pandemic landed, and the drive was really disappointing with the CVT (it sucked) .

You don’t because it was just released and there’s already videos on CZcams of people having Kia cvt failures one guy I saw only had like 1,200 miles on his soul and the cvt failed so you can’t praise one automakers cvt when you don’t know if it’s reliable but bash another’s for having issues 5+ years ago that just doesn’t make sense

Our family's Nissan CVTs have been WONDERFULLY RELIABLE (2007 Versa, 2009 Altima, 2010 cube, 100% made-in-Japan 2013 Quest & 2014 Maxima)!!! Of course, we maintain them accordingly, changing the CVT fluid every 40-60K miles, etc. Recommended maintenance is critical to the longevity of any vehicle. Our '07 Versa SL (with Intelligent Key!) is still going strong at 252K miles. The cube 121K. Quest 96K. Maxima 85K. The Altima had 168K when we traded it in for a 2019 Alti SR. Absolutely no issues at all. I have a strong feeling all the comments parroted by CVT haters that I read everywhere online are pretty baseless. I heard there were issues with some earlier CVTs, but we haven't experienced any ourselves. I suspect owner neglect, or more likely, 'previous-owner/previous lessee neglect', may have much to do with it. Additionally, our Nissan service advisors have shared how Jiffy Lube and various shop mechanics have wrongly and fatally filled Nissan CVTs with conventional automatic transmission fluid. Wrong! Sadly, these cars need to be towed-in to the dealerships due to the ineptitude of idiot mechanics or automotive repair shops.

First after one year of use and then again after a year of use on the replacement. Both were replaced under warranty, before the warranty ran out i got rid of it. Went with Mazda as it's one of the few car companies left that don't use CVT on their cars.

So what im trying to say is if your looking for a car that looks good (16 yr olds care abt this lemme tel u) and isnt too powerful but has enough to do whatever you need for daily commute, this is a great car for a 16 yr old or a first time driver in general.

The new Sentra was just fun to drive and fun on the windy roads. The Corolla was the same way but it felt like a retro throwback to the 90's. How it sounded and how it drives. People always complain about CVTs, the CVT in Sentra felt more like an automatic than a CVT but still had its moments where it was still a CVT. Either way, it's a fun commuter and just needs a little more horsepower (155-160hp) than its perfect for the SR and praying a Nismo version comes out or a turbo next year.

I have a feeling that they understand that this is the last time for all automakers to sell look instead of efficiency. I mean electric vehicles. Who knew they all can make good designs if they want to...
The problem is: it is exactly the same car in a new wrap.

@@adalbertomuriel3922 Yeah id much rather but this than the eleantra or forte. He praises Honda but glosses over the fact the 2016-2020 civics have a higher failure rate on their cvt than Nissan and oil dilution problems in the engine... You can pick up a nearly fully loaded one of these for around 19.5k after discounts and haggling a bit, I don't even think you can get leather in a civic for that price. This thing is honestly a steal if you can make peace with 150 hp.

@@motormusique Sensitive? You're the one that got offended because someone had a different opinion than you, enough so to feel the need to name call like a child. If you think my comment intended for us to meet up then you completely missed the point, which isn't surprising I guess now that I think about it. Next time spend a few more minutes replying to a comment with reason to argue against the point respectfully, you'll look better and people will respect you for it. I have the 7th gen 2016 SR and the only LED’s that came from factory were the low beam headlights, the turn signal mirrors, the front dome lights, and led accents on the tail lights. I changed all the incandescent bulbs to LED since it looks way better.

NISSAN, WE DONT WANT CVT!!! Such a shame. Nissan has been a legendary brand synonymous with reliability and power. They need a proper transmission! How did Nissan slip down below Hyundai or Kia???
