How long will these advances help with your knee replacement as far as how long the replacement will last, or what is the span of how long the new knee is expected to last? Thx.

Robotic knee replacement has been out for more than a few years. The success of patient outcomes are multi factorial. Joint surgeons and manufacturers have been looking for a solution for the 20% of their unhappy patients. Maybe this will help? If the clinical data was overwhelming that the outcomes were better, patients would know via marketing from the manufacturers.

Robotics indirectly should help with longevity of the implant in two ways. First, it assures accuracy of proper limb alignment. Something the human eye alone cannot assess. Secondly, robotics helps tremendously in balancing the knee ligaments which in turn helps with longevity of the implant. We should be getting at least 20 years out of the implants. With out new technology, hopefully 30 years. Thank you for your comment.
