Good analysis - minor quibble at 2:27 you have Jones labelled as Tuipulotu - actually Lawrence was bashing Sione out of the defensive line at this point - an obstruction similar to the one scotland got pinged for later in the game - the ball was yards behind Lawrence so it hard to pretend he is a decoy

From an irish perspective I think eng struggle as their domestic teams like Leicester, Bath, etc are full of non qualified English players so although they have 9 teams in some positions they have limited depth. In ireland our 4 teams are only allowed 3 non Irish qualified players in our squad so we have no option other than develope players through our academies. It's good for our national team but means our club sides can struggle if they don't have the quality coming through their academies

They reckoned even back then that Borthwick was getting on his case a bit too much.......and that's basically why he did what he did, it was a personality clash him v. Borthwick. Personally I've NEVER rated Borthwick as a coach, knew he played second row for England once, but his methods have not improved one iota, and if England do not turn up against Ireland in the next game, then I'm sorry but the rot must be stopped, otherwise England start falling down the rankings and any future RWC's become not possible but likely improbable.

Very good as usual, Max, thank you for providing the details around space which are hard to pick up in real time and with camera angles that seem to provide emotional rather than tactical information.
Whilst I thought it was accurate for Borthwick to point out the disparity of experience in the two teams, it is somewhat disingenuous as this is a matter of choice for the head coach, and it came very close to biggest "no, no" in rugby, which is making excuses after a defeat. I am perhaps being a touch harsh, as he talks in such a monotonous voice that he must hold to truth and decency to gain respect, he has no sense of fun: if a pragmatist is making excuses it feels closer to lying, than someone happy to discuss nuance within a bigger picture.
I think that you are a wee bit harsh on Russell for the first try, as the positioning of the Scottish scrum half was awry.
Scotland's loss against France has somewhat spoilt a potential "final" against Ireland, which Ireland would cruise, but it would have been fun.
Scotland's problem, as ever, is a lack of depth in the tight forwards, particularly the front row, and we don't appear to have much talent bubbling under the surface. I have enjoyed the progression of this team, and whilst they haven't made a serious dent in tournaments, they have provided so many great moments that I am grateful.

Britain is England and Wales, hence British.
Scotland joined to Britain by landmass makes it Great Britain meaning Scotland makes it great😁
Northern Ireland being classed as British isn't really a thing due to them not actually being part of the landmass plus when you speak of the UK which Northern Ireland is part of, it states, United kingdoms of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. And Northern Ireland, not U.K of the British lands.
As for the English identity crisis, there is a few things to back that up.
England, uses British anthem, not an individual National anthem.
As a whole, England is ruled by the UK PM, no Devolved representation at National level like a first ministers etc.
England has no national Parliament, it is under the authority of the UK.
England needs a little self respect before it will find its identity on the world stage and then in sports.
All in all though, English rugby fans are quite nice and behave better than their brothers and sisters at football games so there is hope.
