Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher and Victor Sullivan battle the zombie-like, Descendants while searching for cursed treasures in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
In this video, I showcase all the Descendant enemy encounters in the game and how to defeat them while taking minor damage. Which includes gameplay and cutscenes. They only appear in Chapters 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21. But they are referenced in other chapters in the game. I also included the game over death scenes from the Descendants for what happens when you don't do well fighting them.
Played on Hard mode.

What are the Descendants? They are supernatural zombie-like beings that were once people infected the El Dorado treasure. They have pitch-black eyes, pale skin, can crawl on all four limbs, moving with ape-like agilely, can use the large crawls to scale walls and attack their prey. The Descendants also display forms of intelligences by creating traps on the island they inhabit. As their name implies, they are the descendants of the Spanish colonists who took the treasure of El Dorado (a giant gold sarcophagus) from the Amazon to their newly colonized island in the Pacific Ocean. The colonists opened the sarcophagus to discover a mummy carrying an airborne virus that turned them all into ravenous cannibals. Sir Francis Drake (Nathan Drake's ancestor) would eventually discover the treasure and learn of its dark secrets. His fellow men would get infect by the contents inside the sarcophagus. Before he perished, Sir Francis Drake destroyed all the ships on the island so that the cursed treasure would not leave the island. Years later, the Germans the discovered the cursed treasure and would be met with the same faith as the others...

While I appreciate the grounded tone of Uncharted 4. I really missed the supernatrual element from the first 3 games
Uncharted 1 was defo the scariest
Uncharted 2 is a second
Uncharted 1 had a curse that turned out to be a virus
Uncharted 2 basically had the equivalent of steroid-mixed tree meth
Uncharted 3 had acid,
and I think the ps vita had uranium-laced gold
Uncharted 4 ends with a whole city destroyed by two men's greed
I think this all tells a theme of hubris, and how man's mistakes could have disasterous consequences, from a city-wide unrest to straight up zombie apocalypse

Idk if it's fair to call it "supernatural" though. There seemed to be some virus or mutagen that the Spanish attributed to a "curse"
The zombie/vampire things in I am legend are similar to this and that isn't considered supernatural by most.
Yeah I wished 4 had a supernatural aspect to it.
I remember knowing a bit about the zombies, but was on edge on when they'd show up. When they did, I was terrified, and when my dad came in, he thought he bought Resident Evil instead of the Uncharted series
The levels with the descendants were straight out of Resident Evil, no wonder your dad thought that!

Try playing the game at the age of 6, not having watched a single trailer, only to suddenly have these thing’s appear out of nowhere.
I had LITERALLY NO IDEA these things were going to even show up.
Those things scared the shit out of me when i first played this. That generator room was just a nightmare lol

My thoughts on the corpse in El Dorado:
In reality (according to Wikipedia), El Hombre Dorado (The Golden Man) was the name given to a mythical tribe chief in South America who covered himself in gold. Over time, the myth grew from a man to a city, called El Dorado (The Golden One).
Using this, I think the corpse is of El Hombre Dorado, and the curse is the evil, the greed that plagued his ways (he did cover himself in gold, after all) and the proof there is that when Roman turned, we see the instant 180 on his character, from a polite man with too much ambition, to a monster with one goal: kill, more speecifically kill Navarro (his first word after turning was 'Navarro'). And the Spaniards too; they turned and almost immediately tried to kill Francis Drake. Also the descendants evolved (or devolved depending on how you look at it) to fit their purpose of killing.
The uncharted eldorado wiki page explains that one of the developers said that what transforms humans is a virus.

Uncharted Drakes’s Fortune was really fun, the Descendants were the highlight for me, the creature design was really cool, felt like apes in a way, heavily mutated, the way Naughty Dog teased throughout the game that there is something else on the island was really well done, I got chills when Eddy Raja said something other then Nate was killing his men, the Bunker section felt straight out of a Resident Evil game, so atmospheric with Descendants everywhere with the dim lights!
It was great to see Eddy and Nate team up against the descendants 👏👏👏
What scares me the most is the unknown history behind the mummified corpse within the Sarcophagus. Where did the virus come from? And who knows what happened to those that sealed it away long ago...
this is definitely the biggest mystery in the Uncharted universe.
Not to mention, if there where Mauled Nazi’s on the U boat in the amazons.
Are they lurking about in the Amazon Jungle?

Probably all got infected by it by opening that el dorado you saw those creatures those are people that opened the el dorado and got infected

Uncharted was one of my first story driven games I really fell in loved with way back when so I've just always thought about this lol
I get how the Spaniards built their stuff before they transported the coffin thing, but the rest is kind of unexplained.
Also, some mutant zombies must have escaped into the Amazon since they attacked the German U-boat, so are they still there? Did they form another "community" or whatever these ones did on the island?

You gonna do a history of the rise and fall of Libertalia from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End?
The particularly scary thing about Uncharted is that they don't know anything about the supernatural beings beforehand. For example, in The Last of Us, Resident Evil, Bioshock, or series like The Walking Dead, you know right from the start that there are zombies/monsters. This is not the case in Uncharted. They arrive at the island thinking it's just an ordinary treasure they want to find and in the meantime Eddy's boys are murdered by the descendants. Exactly what was scary about Uncharted also applies to parts 2 and 3.

Seeing Eddy and Nate team up against the Decedents was the highlight of Uncharted Drake’s Fortune for me, sad he got killed, would have loved to see Eddy became an ally with Nate in future games 👏👏👏

the human Ophiocordyceps unilateralis mutation is the recombination of this zombie virus + the cordyceps.
I don’t think I remember seeing those things in the DreamWorks El Dorado movie lol 😆. This is more like “I Am Legend”. Also what scares me is that they’re still on that island! Nathan didn’t kill them all. Dude in real life I would want the US military to nuke that island! Can you imagine being marooned in that place by accident? I can’t wait to see how they’ll handle this in the uncharted sequel film.

Same, but then again Rafe drove himself to madness and greed which brought death to him from above, and Eddie Raja was proving to himself he was better which led to his heroic death.

When I was going through my first playthrough with my dad and we got to the treasure vault chapter where you click the top button and it shows a zombie running way in the background and I remember my dad saying it was probably one of Eddie's pirates, only to get to the chapter where you and eddie fight them and I got so scared when they grabbed the guy and jump of the edge. Definitely the best game in the series
The first time I saw these monsters I got so scared I spent days without sleeping bc of the monsters
The descendants design and movement and behaviors is almost identical to fallout 3 "the pitt" dlcs "Trogs"

So basically el dorado must not leave the island but it can't stay on a island tho you have to destroy it so the curse goes
It couldn't leave the island because it would have destroyed civilization. It could stay on the island because the island is already screwed, but by leaving it there it could have been picked up by someone else. It's not about the possibility to destroy the curse. I doubt there would be even a way to cure it

@@kieronspiteri they are the Spanish colonists who found and became infected by the mummified corpse inside. Becoming animalistically feral and attack anyone they see uninfected. Several hundred years later,the Germans found El Dorado and moved it to their bunker. Which,proved to be the whole "you suffer the same fate as us scenario" one was documented being infected and once broken free,went on a bloodied rampage,killing the rest of the nazis. That is why when you go in their bunker In chapter 18 you can find their mutilated bodies scattered around,as well as their MP40s

Whether it’s the “ark” from Indiana Jones or the el Dorado. Maybe some myths of treasure are best to be left alone. Whether it’s true what you see here and in movies, I am Not touching that treasure or even “opening” it. Overall, stick to your gut and don’t open things that you’re unfamiliar with. Especially do your Research 🧐

I have no idea how I got into this game since its outside my game genre but this was among the best games i have ever played. Felt like a darker version of indiana jones. Just world ending weapons hidden through myths.

Considering that these are the Spaniards that traveled with drake, as well as Nazis occupying the islands, some are over 400 years old and others are probably in their nineties.

That's true because we don't know what they really look like in the brass vessel. and the djinns in drake's hallucinations are not real.
There is a hint of what the djinns might look like. in chapter 11, the left puzzle with the gears. When you have completed the puzzle, the 2 round symbols turn around. The brass vessel is formed on the lower one and an evil face on the upper one. This could really suggest that they might look like this, but we'll probably never know.

Gabriel Roman was just an unwitting means to an end for Atoq Navarro. Roman thought Navarro was just some hired help, but Navarro was the one who was really pulling the strings.

The spaniards werent cursed nor were they zombies they evolved to best suit their surroundings. They grew longer limbs to traverse faster their skin became pail to better blend in to the jungle their nostrils became bigger to smell prey and they have enough nolledge to set traps. Not a curse just mother nature doing her thing. But those guys in uncharted 2 were just on meth.

It is definitely some sort of curse that can only be caught through inhaling the dust from whatever in hell is the thing in that statue, these beautiful gents don't spread it to humans by themselves but still aren't any friendlier, like you said they did evolve and reproduce for god knows how long

Thats pretty much bullshit. The golden men bares a curse. The spaniards opened it and get cursed. Which ment they changed into unhuman but still somehow humanoid, zombielike creatures. The people on the island where killed and driven off, the Wehrmacht and SS who came later was killed by the ,,zombies".
