No, it's because John White is a pressure player. He doesn't try to win matches with length and width but with pace and relentless attack. You don't see a ton of pros on tour adopt this style mostly because they simply aren't capable of doing it! Gaultier is a pressure player as well. It's way harder on your body adopting a style such as this, which is why they don't typically stay at the top of the rankings for very long using a style like this. Imagine using a style such as this to win a tournament? Do that for 5 matches in a row compressed into 1 week. Few people on the planet are capable of it. Power has stated that he could never even match Nicols pace for more then 3 games. This is some crazy high level squash.

I don't think so. There are were many others who had/have an attacking game better than him.

It is a rather strange feeling watching this game now. I have been following psasquashtv for the past three years now, and comparatively, in this game between Nicol and White, the lengths, widths and short game seem rubbish somehow. Do you think the game evolved that much or is it simply the camera ?

tin was lowered in the late 2000s, which is why the short game today seems better. Whitey was always a bit of a wild card with his precision, but the power was just so disorienting. Nicol's precision with his length and width is still elite
