Years ago my family took a road trip to the Star House, still in good shape. It was the reunion powwow of Quanah & Parker descendants! We sat on the porch enjoying the festivities, a great honor ⭐
I commend you for your outstanding dedication to the history of the past American native peoples, they lived through some really hard times and I'm glad to hear his family still live on.What was done to these people was a travesty , driven from their land and to despair. Its good to know Quanah Parker became successful.
Interesting he was very smart and ahead of his time.
Rhett, I enjoyed this video about Native American Chief, Quanah Parker, he was a very interesting and talented man. I appreciate the great investigating of the various topics that you did for this historical Native American culture. Also, enjoyed the various photos of the people and scenery. Take care 🐎
I really like your new channel name! So sad about the house falling into disrepair :-(
Thank-you Rhett! Very fascinating history. About makes 'ya sick to your stomach to see the house just setting in rot. There was a bed frame I'd just about give my right arm for!
Beautiful cemetery. I hope that somehow or someway his house gets restored someday. I always enjoy seeing the older houses restored to how they originally were.
I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones that show the history of Oklahoma and the people who shaped it. I visited Geronimo's grave a few years back but didn't know about Quanah's gave when we were there. I think I need to make another trip to Ft. Sill to pay my respects to this great man. Thank you for keeping the history alive.
Beautiful cemetery. I think it’s good that people who once enemies are resting together.
I sure did enjoy the history of this man . Thank you so very much ..
Great story Rhetty. Very interesting. Sad to see his home in that condition. Would be nice to have it restored. Thank you my friend.
That is very interesting history on Quanah Parker. As always you did an exceptional job of researching and presenting your information. This is a period in time that is rich with historical facts. One photo you showed with Quanah Parker and President Teddy Roosevelt in the same photo was taken when Roosevelt and a party came to witness an Oklahoman named Jack Abernathy who caught wolves.Abernathy caught wolves by chasing them down on horseback, jumping off on them and running his fist down their throats so they couldn't bite. Roosevelt was so impressed with Abernathy that he made him a deputy U.S. Marshal in Oklahoma. As fascinating as Jack Abernathy is the the story of how his two young sons traveled the country alone on horseback at only 9 and 5 yrs. of age is worth checking into. Those two boys were fearless and lived a lifetime in a very short time.
Hello Rhett!!! I knew quite a bit about Quanah but you opened my eyes to information I didn't know. History teacher you are and I thank you for that...Peace!!!
Thanx for this video Rhetty. I became interested in Quanah Parker some years ago after reading the book- Empire of the Summer Moon. I sure hope his house can be saved and preserved. Thanx again😎😎😎
My great-grandfather lived many years of his life in the Lawton/Fort Sill area and he knew Quanah Parker. He was a very young man and Quanah was an old man but he was my great-grandfathers friend.
Hopefully someone will get the ball rolling on the restoration of his home. It would be a rotton shame to just let it rot to the ground!
I am Australian but I like watching your you tube channel especially when it is about the first peoples of your country.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. I love all of the pictures you showed. Quanah was such a vital part of Oklahoma and Texas history. I have got to get down there again and see all of those places. I am very interested in the Parkers and in Oklahoma history. Thanks again. God bless.
We went a couple of years ago and paid respect to
I'm decended from Chocktaw from Louisiana and supposed Cherokee from TX. I'm not sure as the 1890 census was destroyed. Thanks for the history lesson
