Such a shame they killed the boys Version!!! by "polishing" it. The audition was otherworldy brilliant, totally devine. This version here even killed the guys' souls. (Just look into their faces, compared to to glow that had in the audition).
From a sound man's point of view, it's hard to make a poor group sound good, but it is easy to make a good group sound bad. In the actual audition the mix was a good blend of the vocals and the instruments, while this performance had some problems. The high harmony was way too hot. It was in the background in the audition (where it's supposed to be) and in the forefront here. That makes it sound strange, unbalanced and off key. My guess is that the sound guy (on the mixing board) was rooting for one of the other acts. Also keep in mind that the mix that is broadcast is usually NOT the mix they hear in the house, thus the reactions from the judges can sometimes seem way off base.
