    Also, another delusion and misinforned narrative I have been fighting with a lot lately, Stray kids level of involvement in the production of their music and the fact that Stays completely ignore, dismiss and at times disrespect the professionals that do absolutely help with creative production of Stray kids music. I have been seeing Stays all over the comment sections of reactors saying things like "stray kids produce 99.97% of their music all by themselves" and calling producers that work with Stray kids "just friends that help with tech." I saw a couple videos that the co-composers and their friends of The Sound posted and Stays were all over the comment sections being rude af, and getting mad that these producers were excited to have worked with Stray kids because they felt like they were trying to take full credit, when they weren't. I have been trying to spread factual information on this subject in the comments sections of some new reactors I'm liking here and there and the amount of arguing and hate I have been getting is ridiculous. I've been called a liar, a hater, I've had people assume I must be new and uneducated. Even when I directly bring up that the JYP official track list images list other producers, and analyze every credit given to other producers on KOMCA, I've been called crazy and wrong so many fricken times. I know it shouldn't be that important to me, but I just feel like so many Stays spreading this false narrative and attacking producers that are excited about working with Stray kids is only making Stays look toxic and delusional and might eventually limit the opportunities Stray kids get to collab with other producers and artists.

      Exactly! And jungkook just released a full English song with jack Harlow today and Idk what to think abt that 😭 like ofc it's a good song but I feel like since the BTS members do their solo's, their songs have become sm more like western music. Even when we still had group activities. Like the last Korean comeback was yet to come and before that we had permission to dance, butter, and dynamite. I'm actually so upset and disappointed that BTS and the members keep doing this, like it's called K-pop for a reason. And this is just not it 😭

    I hate minors debuting in groups as well.
    A lot of people say that minors have been debuting only during 4th gen when in reality minors have been debuting for years (ex: boa,taemin,suzy, IU)

    • @SaraSans
      @SaraSans  Před 11 měsíci +2

      are u kiddinggg?? debuting minors is one of the oldest traditions in kpopppp❤‍🩹 can't believe people say that hahahaha

  • @BeccaFaye1314
    @BeccaFaye1314 Před 11 měsíci +2

    Ugh the debuting minors upsets me so much, too. 17 year olds, can be acceptable, but all these 14 and 15 year olds debuting does bother me too. Especially because almost all of the really young artists are girls, and there is a problem with grown ass men being fans and gross and creepy at fansigns and stuff. It creeps me out so much, because I just can't help but worry that these grown ass men are sexualizing and romanticizing these children just because they are idols and they think they can now get away with that. I am a woman who is typically a fair bit older than most of the k-pop idols I like (I'm 32). There is a maybe weird disconnect in my brain where I just never find any idol whose birth year starts with a 2 sexy or hot or anything like that. Like Felix and Hyunjin, the IT boys of 4th gen as some Stays like to call them, I like them, I like their voices and dancing. I think they are talented and beautiful men. But I never look at them in a sexual kind of way. It's like to me if the birth year starts with a 2, they're just a baby, and that's it. In fact my motherly feelings kind of start to kick in at that point. Lol. Now Bang Chan, Changbin, and Lee Know though, sometimes I can't help but find them sexy, especially Chan. I know there's technically not a big gap between Hyunjin and Changbin, and all of Stray kids are grown men now, not minors, but there is still that disconnect in my brain and I'm not fighting it. That is the big difference, women generally are just not as creepy at sexualizing as men are, but any grown adult sexualizing a child is always wrong. Not to mention, the emotional toll these kids have to experience to have so many people constantly critiquing everything they do, their bodies and faces. The hate that is spewed at them so much. It's revolting and must be so damaging. Just has me feeling so motherly and worried about all these baby idols nowadays.

    Westernization is cr*p, I totally agree. It takes all the fun, uniqueness and authenticity of K-pop.
    In fact, that uniqueness is what called my attention in the first place when I saw DNA by BTS back in 2017.
    I am so NOT interested in collabs. You know, IDOL with Nicky Minaj was something new once. Now? I am completely done with it.
    I wish idols didn't feel like they had to be part of the western culture. I don't think they gain much from it.
    It's like Sara says, artists are free to do whatever they want to get to the point they want in their career, but whenever I see a group getting too close to our beloved US, I start to worry. No ofense to anyone, but when an artist starts releasing most of his/her music in English, jeez, that makes me mad...
    Anyways, the K-pop industry has changed a lot in the 6 years I have been a fan. I'm now realizing that I care less about everything, I just enjoy some music from time to time. I definitely do not care about numbers, sometimes it's a signal of a group being overhyped imo. My favourite albums this year have not had the biggest sales. For example, I am obsessed with D.O's "Expectation" and I don't see people talking about it. Sometimes you just need some chill, beautiful and cozy songs and that's enough.

    I don't know if something as the westernization of kpop could be applied to the group itself. I'd argue that it can happen (and it has happened ofc) with a song, or a few songs, but in my (not so experienced) journey as a kpop stan, I haven't seen a group that has completely lost their essence. With the example of BTS, sure they have released (literally 3) songs in english, with characteristics that can be considered more western, but it doesn't mean they've totally changed their artistic view. If you don't like those songs, it's all good, I just feel like we shouldn't be acting as if they've abandoned their kpop sound. Doesn't if feel a little bit radical? Even with the members' solo work, most of it I wouldn't consider it kpop (mostly because it's more rap, r&b, jazz...) but people don't critize it like they do with the music that is more popy and in english. And the same goes with collaborations with western artists. I'm not saying that none of them do it for clout, but the fact that it's not genuine in the way that we want to think it happens, doesn't erase the fact that mixing two different sounds can have a good impact in two different listener profiles, bring them together and help them discover new music.
    Everything else I pretty much agree with lol.
    No seriously, STOP debuting minors.

    Isn't all of K-pop music inspired by Western music (specifically Black American R&B and Hip-Hop)? Most, not all, but most of the songs are inspired by Western music from the 90s and 2000s. Even k-pop music from the 90s and 2000s was inspired by the popular Western music from that time, it hasn't changed, the industry has always done that. If you want to listen to K-pop that sounds more Korean, I wouldn't recommend listening to K-pop at all. I understand why the sudden explosion of K-pop music that features Western locations and English lyrics is distasteful to a lot of people, it does feel like they're needlessly kissing up to Western audiences, but they've always done it, they are doing it, it's practically the whole foundation of k-pop. I believe, and I may be wrong, that what you mean by Korean music and a more Korean sound is just K-pop music from the 2000s, which was inspired by American music from the 2000s. For example, BTS' "War of Hormone," and the "Dark and Wild" album as a whole, was heavily inspired by American sounds and artists, they've addressed it in interviews and address it throughout the album. I've met so many people, especially Black Americans, who adore that album because it's amazing, one, and, two because it's heavily inspired by Hip-Hop, Trap music, R&B and from the 2000s. Groups like BTS, NewJeans, TxT, Black Pink, etc aren't doing anything different than what countless other K-pop groups have always done, including EXO, they've just changed the genre of American music they're taking inspiration from. Sometimes groups are inspired by EDM or alternative music from the 2000s or R&B or 2000s pop music, either way, the sounds are Western for the most part, not all the time of course, but majority of the time. There are literal clips of famous K-pop producers and choreographers and lyricists talking about how much of the music made is directly inspired by American music, and that's okay, because the music is still good, it always has been and will continue to be really good.

  • @AyalaBlack
    @AyalaBlack Před 11 měsíci +3

    I will start with that one because it should NOT BE an unpopular opinion: MINORS. SHOULD. NOT. DEBUT. Like ohmygod that should not even be discussed the whole newjeans thing is giving me major creeps. Boystory? They are CHILDREN. Babymonster? Like pls. Let those children be far away from an industry toxic even for adults. Like does all those idols (Boa, Hyuna, etc...) telling you horror story of their childhood in entertainment not enough ?
    I do enjoy some western collab? Like Going Dumb by Stray Kids, Alesso and Corsak is so so fun. Seven ft Latto was also pretty good. But i haven't listen to many so I guess i can't say much.
    The award thing 😶 yeah i'm with you on that one. Like how the f you wanna award someone for their presence and not because it's DESERVED?
    Thanks Sara that was a fun time actually 🫶🏽

    What I personally believe is that every good thing has it's time.. Even if it took long.. If a song is good or an artist is good it's just a matter of time for them to blow up and get love I sincerely believe in hard work tbh so I need the industry to stop trying to fit in other industries like the western the Latin and else and use their sound... Just like the 2nd and 3rd gen kpop idols can make it to the big stage even with their original sound

    I understand where you are coming from. I really enjoy BTS for their authentic and personal lyrics. I however don’t agree that BTS should be limited to creating songs with that certain feel. I think that we can agree that BTS is beyond being limited to K-Pop. They include a variety of genres in their discographies because they enjoy creating diverse music.
    Saying that they became “too western” for creating this popular music is an example of the barriers they have to overcome as Korean artists.
    It is also apparent that they are not simply creating popular music for the fame. This is proven through their solo works. It’s important to acknowledge this and allow BTS to grow how they desire to.
    If you're still unsure about BTS's english songs, check out this video by Boracity magazine:
    czcams.com/video/dOjX72xwPx0/video.html
    It's only 11 minutes long and can help people understand them :) 💜

    I love your videos
    I Agree with you
    In my opinion
    Winning by Numbers isn't mean talent fans need to realized that just because they love someone doesn't mean they deserve
    For example
    Btob is one of greatest group now days because they doesn't promote numbers or beauty visual or dancing they promote real music talent which they have
    For me same as you said BTS those era's which sounds more like kpop are my fav but after dynamite it's no for me i just don't want to listen western music that's why i listen kpop if i have to listen western music then i simply just listen to them but kpop isn't western music so stop ittttt

    See… majority of ppl use English to communicate with foreign fans… American market easily achieved global success cuz English is widely used… meanwhile korean… is mostly used by Koreans… and hence it’s surely kinda harder to achieve global success with less used language… Korean isn’t as widely used as English… like- if we are talking about language 😅
    But as for music style… yeah… like- as ya used BTS as example… I have to say I do have a great connection with BTS’s older discography but I recommend ppl to check out the BE album or Agust D’s solo songs… I really- like- REALLY love Daechwita !! Run BTS and Dis-ease are great too !! Check out Suga’s new album… he always serves… I loved Seven too tbh… it’s just A GOOD SONG… no matter how it sounds… it’s still a good song to me… tho Suga’s / Agust D’s releases are my fav out of all ig I really loved Haegeum too… the lyrics!! His songs screams “lyrical genius” !! They all are doing great and I’m really glad they are… tho yeah… I will wait for their Korean mini or full album… it’s a NEED!! I want a concept that they had during debut to I need u or run away era… those eras have most of my favs songs and for bsides… wings album too (including TT too ofc) !!
