    I haven’t seen a full animatic for this song yet so I was happy to feed the people. 2/5 songs done. I am absolutely going to have arthritis after this saga.

    I love the idea that he had a wedding ring as a necklace. That's why the siren assumed he had a wife and went based on that info and what Ody was saying, kinda just making shit up on the way in response to him. It makes more sense than her knowing about Penelope but somehow not knowing he doesn't have a daughter

    While I will always mourn the fact that Jay didn't use the accurate description of the sirens (although some animators do add feathers to their siren design for this song, which does makes me feel better) and instead used the mermaid version (I completely understand why he did it, but still), this is still a fantastic animatic!

    • @Luthi3n3
      @Luthi3n3 Před měsícem +8

      There isn't an "accurate" version! The Odyssey doesn't describe them as either birds or fish, and both versions exist in other myths

    • @aizaluna5184
      @aizaluna5184 Před měsícem +10

      @@Luthi3n3 Actually we can say the accurate version is indeed the feathery version since that's how they were portrayed in ANCIENT GREEK art. In pottery, statues and stuff. The fish-like Sirens are versions from After Christ interpretations.
      So Odyssey's Sirens are 100% the bird woman, but Jay decided to go with the other interpretation for convinience. The only myth that portray Siren as half-fish is the myth after they lost to the Muses, who plumcked off their feathers and threw them at the sea, making them turn into half-fish, but even that is a strech since another ending is them drowning and becoming Islands.
      Both versions of the myths are nice, but I can understand people that are tired with the Greek Siren and World-Wide Mermaid mix-up 🫠

      @@Luthi3n3 no ANCIENT GREEK ARTWORK portrays them as part bird women NOT MERMAID LIKE.
      Also in what myth are they described as Mermaid like? Because in their biggest myths aka the Argonautica and the Odyssey they LIVED ON ROCKS not in the water (and also lured sailors with what they wanted most. ex: knowledge of the future).
      The mermaid version is a much more recent idea.
