- In this motorcycle ride-out, Jamie swaps his engine for a battery, and then hits the streets of DTLA in search of transportation inspiration, city sights and a big juicy burger at the end of the day.

Finally rode an electric bike last week. Zero SR/S. For anyone that hasn’t ridden one: it’s exactly like you think it would be. Pulls pretty hard but it’s not mind blowing. They’ve been talked up so much that the hype is surpassing reality. Ignore torque numbers as they don’t coincide 1:1 with crank torque on an ICE motorcycle. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride and even got to take my wife on the back. I was also able to launch it, full-bore a few times to really get an idea of its capabilities. Quick, but the front tire was never in danger of losing contact with the road. The break-neck torque they talk about is a bit of an exaggeration. It rode smooth, suspension felt better than I expected it would. My ‘“good roads” are 30-40 minutes away. The range just doesn’t work for me. Also, it feels a little… dead. My bikes are all Italian (multistrada, tuono, griso) and they all have distinct personality and character. The zero did not. I felt ‘zero’ connection with it. It was 100% mechanical. That being said I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one if it made sense for me. But right now, for the price, and where I live, it doesn’t. Even if it did make sense, it wouldn’t be for “fun riding.” It would be for commuting or errand running. For me, at least. As I write this i’m now considering one for my very short commute to work (bad for internal combustion motors) and my short ride to the gym. Both under 4 miles. Hmmm…. What’s out there that’s cheap and will take a top box?
Wouldn't be a true Motogeo video without a Burger
So I'm assuming that it took until dark to charge up..... 🤣🤣🤣 No thanks, I'll keep my combustion engine bikes...
i looked forward to this video since this came out years ago. i am glad you got a chance to ride one. next up is the might 2022 3rd gen Honda Grom.
That Livewire sound... ;-)
Am not a fan of this electric motorcycle to me they just don't have a enough battery life give me a old fashioned petrol engine great video man 😎👍
Nice to see you wearing the Bike Shed hat. Hope to see you there.
Bike, rides, and eating Burger i miss your vloggers
You could always put a playing card in between the spokes with a clothes peg to give it that authentic motorbike sound! 😂
Loved it, great video👍
What was the cost of the charge? No one shows that cost. And how long did it take to get a full charge?
Was waiting for a new video! Thank you
It’s like the TRON bike.
Great content!
Riding in my backyard. Glad to see you hard
👊
Good stuff Jamie!
I pretty much dig all motorcycles, and will probably end up with an electric one someday. But let’s not kid our selves about “saving the planet” with these. They don’t even make a lot of financial sense (but neither do most of my bikes, lol). You spend 25 plus K to save on gas, your kidding right??? I love the characters of all my bikes, I love the vibes as well. Definitely seems like a tool not a experience.
That T7 sounds fantastic. Great jacket. Brand, please? Not a fan of electic bikes yet. I wondered when you were going to have a burger.
💯💯❤️❤️
