Wood turning can be a dangerous hobby. My videos show my methods of turning and if you do not feel comfortable with my methods please do not copy them but rather use a method you feel comfortable using. Your safety is your responsibility as is the safety in your workshop. Enjoy the videos, hopefully something inspires you or helps you along the way. Irish woodturning is a craft that is dying out and should be preserved so that the tradition of Wood turning in Ireland stays alive and well.

Over 30 years ago my daughter picked a teddy bear that had the face stitches slightly out of line, and one ear smaller than the other. She had at the time what felt like a tribe of 1,000,000 teddy's the quirky one was the favourite, 30 years on it is the only survivor of the tribe of billions and is now loved by her daughter. Sometimes the quirks are what makes the piece, that 4th "branch" isn't wrong just different.
That is a good point Pete mate.

I agree with Ed, stick it on the stall because I had a horrible tree that, like your blank, gave me loads of grief. I set it beside the fire in the workshop for the next time I lit it and a friend happened to see me in the workshop as she passed the house so nipped in for a chat. While we were talking she spotted the tree and said it was beautiful. I laughed and said "Yeah, beautiful firewood". She immediaely lifted it and told me she was taking it home because it looked perfect to her as she loved the inconsistencies. So, maybe we are too hard on ourselves? Someone said "Woodturners are the only people who like what they make for 5 minutes and then hate it". Certain truth there.
By the way... Tir na nÓg is on Brankin's Hill just outside Portadown... well, the football club is anyway.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Cheers Brendan.

Your tree has style
Thanks Alan.

Very well done Shay. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you Roger.

Hi Shay, I wish all my mistakes came out that nice and I agree with Brendan and Ed I think you should put it on the stall.
I used to listen to Tir Na Nog in the 70's and loved their music.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw mate. I made a decision when I started doing markets that if a truning is not perfect it does not go on the stall. My reputation is n ot worth what I might get for an imperfect turning. That what is in my head.
Shay
@@BBTurning I fully understand the sentiment on this mate.
Cursed Indeed Shay. Good job persevering to a finish well done Mate
Cheers Brian.

Stick it on the stall, I'm always surprised by how many people would rather something that isn't perfect.
anything that doesn't get thrown (with force) into the F&%ckit bucket is a win in my eyes 😉
and my other excuse is that no natural tree is perfect 🤣
Lovely piece as always!
Thanks Ed, I like that, a F&*kit bucket lol, I might just nick that mate.
Shay
you're welcome...😄
very nice
Cheers Mark but it could have been better mate.
