    If you notice the power supply wire from the converter to the pump get very warm and if you change them out to a larger gauge the compressor not only runs at a higher RPM but the don't get warm any more. I switched them to 12 ga wire and also changed the switch to a 30 amp because the original 20 amp switch melted in the first 10 days of use. Picked up the switch at Walmart for 5$ in the automotive section. All these pumps are very similar, made in China, but have different name brands on them. They all work pretty good when properly used within the parameters they are made for. Don't try and fill any bottles over 700 cc and even then you may need to take a break and allow it to cool down. I try not to push them over 4300 psi. You really don't need to go to 4500 psi. Hope this helps someone. Great video and info. Thank you.

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem +2

      First initial fill on a 500cc takes about 12-15 mins, then after that about 8 -10 mins to top off as long as it's not too far down in the red. The Hatsan Blitz is a 580cc tank and it fills it no problem.

    Been looking at these budget compressors. Purchased my first PCP, and am currently using the hand pump. Its not terrible to pump by hand, but I’m liking PCP and will probably move up from my budget rifle. How long did it take for the compressor to fill your gun?

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před 9 měsíci +3

      It really depends on the size of the tank on the gun. At maximum, this compressor can handle a 580cc tank. I say that because anything bigger and it could potentially overheat, and you will have to shut it off and wait, then back on again in order to avoid overheating with tanks larger than that.
      The Hatsan Blitz, which is a 580cc tank, takes about 15 minutes to fill from empty to full. After that first fill, it's around 8 or 9 mins to fill simply because you never want to run them completely empty.
      As for smaller tanks like the Umarex Notos or the Hatsan Jet, those take very little time to fill, at around a minute or two max. So very quick for filling those.
      Hopefully that gives you an idea on both the low end and high end of how much time it takes to fill. 🍻

  • @d30gaijin
    @d30gaijin Před rokem

    Reading the instructions for the compressors I have (No Name, Vevor, & Yong Heng) say to put the filter on the fill hose closest to the compressor, not at the gun.

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem +1

      The small 1 1/2" cotton filter cylinder should be at the gun. If you want extra filter protection, then you want a desiccant style filter at the other end at the compressor. Those filters are much larger than the little cotton filters provided with these cheap compressors.
      The reason those small 1 1/2" cotton filters should be at the gun end is because they trap the moisture better as the air cools. So if it's right at the compressor it's not going to filter as well since the air doesn't have a chance to cool before it hits it.
      So that's why you would want a larger filter at the compressor end, and the small cotton filter at the gun.
      No I did not cover this aspect in this video because it's just a review of a cheap compressor that I only recommend using for tanks or cylinders that are 500cc or less in size.
      But in my experience with this compressor for a few months now, I recommend adding the larger desiccant style filter at the compressor end.
      You can get a decent one from Amazon for around $15-ish dollars. They come with a lot of extra replacement filters and will last quite a while.
      That will add a much needed extra layer of protection. 🍻

    Thanks, Riddick, as I start looking to transition from the break barrel and pumper rifles, this information is just what I was looking for. While I do like the Notos I'm thinking more traditional with a wood stock and I'm comparing the JTS Airacuda to the Benjamin Marauder. They seem pretty similar, and I'm pretty sure this compressor would handle either. • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem

      Yeah you can leave the air in. It's actually better to always keep enough air in it so that it doesn't drop too far below the green range on the gauge. Once it's down to the edge of that green, I usually like to go ahead and top it back off so that the needle is up to the edge of the green on the full side.
      Definitely never fill the gun past that green range on the gauge. You can go up to the edge of it, but stay out of the red. The green area is your friend 😎🍻

    Newbie here.
    1. How long did it take to directly fill the rifle shown here?
    2. How often do you have to change that air filter and is the filter replacement a standard size that you can easily find online to purchase?
    3. I notice guys bringing a small looking scuba type tank with them to fill in the field. What size is recommended for that?
    Thanks

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před 8 měsíci

      Sorry for the delay in responding. It takes about 1 minute or so to fill the Umarex Notos. Changing the filter really depends on how often you use the compressor, but I would say once a month average. And yes the filters are a dime a dozen on Amazon.
      As for the scuba style fill tanks, this compressor will fill small ones, but it won't be able to handle the larger ones. 580cc max on tank size. That goes for any fill tanks of that size or guns with tanks that size. 🍻

    Would that separate power supply make this thing longer lasting then a self contained compressor? And do you just hook up that power supply to any plug in your garage?

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem

      Yeah it plugs into any standard electrical outlet. The wiring you see coming off of the power supply is already hooked up from the factory. All you will need to do is plug it into the compressor, and then plug the power supply into the electrical outlet.
      It also comes with a set of wires and clips to hook it up to a 12v car battery if you are out in the field and need to use it.
      I don't think it matters if the power supply is separate or built in. I guess one benefit is the power supply won't get as hot since it's separate. Otherwise I don't think it's going to matter either way.

      Is it the first time filling the gun? Sometimes these PCP guns need a quick burst of pressure to set the seals and start taking air. The compressor isn't a quick enough burst. A hand pump, or getting someone with an air tank to just hit it with a quick couple bursts should set the seals, then you're good to go with your compressor.
      I'm just learning about these PCP guns myself, and this is something I'm recently finding out with these.

      Hatsan Jet - 1 minute to fill

      Just a precaution to keep the moisture down in the lines due to high humidity in my area.
      It has never overheated or even come close to overheating yet in any instances that I've used it, and that's even with multiple uses in one day.
      I make sure to keep it in a cool environment when filling though which helps obviously. The fan on this is an absolute beast and does a great job at keeping the heat down. But the price you pay for that is that it's LOUD lol.

    For that new air gun I would have to ditch the fill prob and drill and tape a 1/8 hole in front and screw in a 1/8 foster fill fitting and just use the paint ball fill cover for a cap that way I won't loss it or forget it and can't find it LoL 🎯💯👍✌️✌️

      Well I can't guarantee anything as I'm not the manufacturer, I can only tell you my experience with mine. It's been running good for well over a year now, but I don't try to fill any tanks above 500cc. It's PERFECT for the smaller 40cc - 200cc tanks. That's really the size it's made for. It can handle the 500cc ones, but you have to fill in stages. Fill for a few minutes, turn it off and take a break, then fill again for a few minutes, etc until full. This just ensures it won't burn up the pump trying to fill a large tank like that. For the smaller tanks though, like the Hatsan Jet, Umarex Notos, even some of the smaller Beeman rifles, it fills those up in just a couple minutes tops. Perfect for those. 🍻

    NO, FAILS every two weeks..not enough rebuild kits available.. clogs n fails light use..you just come back week later and wont pressurize past 500PSI..ok..use the one rebuild given.. use lightly for a week..come back again bam same thing..on repeat..out-of rebuild kits company is hidden in myriad of parent company and leads you to a renewable energy dealer at a corporate only level "hey we sell energy, this what we about".. no parts.. garbage, and they put my warranty sticker over the 110V/240V switch, shipped it 240V enabled and every US customer is voided bc we 110V.. so thats weird? Accident or maybe they dont like pur power grid an wont warranty it and hide those words pre purchase? Stay away, worse $200 i ever spent

      Well that sucks. I've been using mine regularly to fill a Hatsan Jet, Hatsan Blitz, and Umarex Notos and it's been great. I guess it's just another case of "luck of the draw" with these. Mine has yet to even get really hot, and that's when filling all 3 in a row. The Blitz takes 15 minutes to fill, and the other two take about two minutes. It can fill all 3 right in a row and still not get over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
      Maybe I should play the lottery because I got lucky with mine I guess 🤷
      That really sucks you've had that many issues. I guess that's the risk we run when buying cheap crap. 🍻

    Strange how you do not say which brand that is. If it is a Tuxing then,
    No, these are not good. Junk, zero effective customer support. Don't believe me? Well find out for yourself then.

      It's a Hatsan clone. There is no brand to it. It's simply an unbranded clone. Amazon is the customer service. I've had it for over a year and it is still going just fine. It's only for smaller PCP guns, nothing bigger than 580cc. 🍻

      @@OTSA Hatsan does not manufacturer compressors, they rebranded them.

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před 7 měsíci

      At one point sure, but HatsanUSA does in fact now manufacture them....in China. This is a TactAir clone, of their previous model with the separate power supply.
      Amazon provides protection plans of up to 3 years. Buy a protection plan with it, they are inexpensive. Then you will have 3 years of full replacement power if it ever comes down to that.
      This isn't some high dollar investment, it's a couple hundred dollar cheap compressor. You get what you pay for my man. 🍻

    I have this one bought it April 2022 it gave out in November 2022 .Warranty i called about no response from manufacturer.Just bought another compressor with 3 year warranty

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem +1

      The warranty is through Amazon's Asurion. They have to replace it free or refund your money when it's through them, AFTER the manufacturer warranty expires. The manufacturer warranty is 1 year, but if it fails in that time frame Amazon still has to replace it if the manufacturer isn't responding.
      You have to contact Amazon and tell them the manufacturer doesn't respond, that you also bought the 3 year warranty, raise a little hell over it and they will replace it. Even though it says the Asurion warranty covers mechanical failure after the manufacturer warranty expires, you can still get them to replace it. Especially if the manufacturer doesn't respond. That's unacceptable.
      If it's after the manufacturer warranty then Amazon/Asurion replaces it and you shouldn't have to fight with them over it.
      I've had a few items from Amazon that I've had to deal with over this situation, and I've always been able to get an item replaced or refunded. Sometimes you have to get a little frisky with them, but it works.

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před rokem +1

      Well if the old one broke back in November then it might be too late to get them to do anything. Unless they are still unaware? If you had the 3 year warranty on the old one, then definitely raise hell with em'. If you didn't, it will be harder. But for this new one you bought, just keep after them if anything happens.

    how long does it take to fill the gun?

    • @OTSA
      @OTSA  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It depends on what gun it is. If it's an Umarex Notos or a Hatsan Jet, Beeman Chief, etc then it only takes a minute or two.
      However a gun like the Hatsan Blitz will take a good 10 minutes or more.
