Nice video Dan, I’ve been following along with you progress. We’ve actually been considering ikea base cabinets for a little kitchen overhaul we’re doing. Would love to hear your thoughts on their overall quality / value before we pull the trigger. I may give you a call sometime in the near future. - Petersen

Collin, once they’re finished and I get all the drawers and doors aligned I’ll give you my opinion. They were around $2000 for what you see there. Then the counter tops which will be Quartz will be another 2k. $200 for the sink. Tile backsplash from some leftover tiles. All in without appliances it will be under 5k. And thanks for following along. Much appreciated.

Hello, do you have a video of the finished kitchen, would love to see what flooring you did ?

The “saying goodbye to the Adu” video had the kitchen finished. The flooring I believe I answered in comments on that video but I will check.

Are you installing soft closures or are they built in to the cabinet hardware already.Thank you for the video.

They are built into the cabinet hardware already. The drawers have a soft close as well as the cabinet doors. Whether you buy from a box store like ikea or go higher end you should be able to spec out soft close. It should be standard.

Hi! Thanks for the content I was wondering what was the name of the cabinet line that you used?

They were ikea cabinets. Bodbyn. I’ve heard recently thought that IKEA is having a hard time with fulfilling shipping orders and their customer service is a little slow. We will do another kitchen on our next house build, I probably won’t use ikea.

Wondering why you didn't install the floor before the cabinets. I'm thinking about doing ikea cabinets too and I want to get the order right.

You can do it either way. Flooring is something you may replace or refinish before cabinets. The cabinets sit on the subfloor and are height adjustable. They have a toe kick that hides the end of the flooring. With conventional cabinets I would do it the same. Cabinets first, then flooring. It’s a waste of flooring underneath the cabinets. But if you went with a more permanent flooring then maybe you would want to put all the flooring in first and do the cabinets on top.

    why didn’t u tile first ?

You mean prior to putting in the cabinets? For the backsplash you could. I didn’t because generally the order of operations is cabinets, counter then backsplash. It would be easier to just tile full tiles down below the counter line, but then you would run into other problems.
