I can go out and skate 10 miles in 2-3 hours going from spot to spot, but realized recently I've reached the point of diminished returns and need to focus on shorter & more intense sessions now that cardio & conditioning are in place.
@@StevesSkateExplosion Only my first ACL (left knee) was from being a young, dumb skater. I hucked myself down stairs, my knee popped, and I was too scared to tell my parents, so I rode the pain out for 2 years, which made it worse until I got it repaired. The second ACL tear (right knee) was from a military incident in mountainous terrain. The third ACL tear, along with lateral and medial meniscus tears (right knee), occurred during another military incident while coming out of a helicopter. Then, the big one: ACL, MCL, medial tear, and tibial fracture (left knee), again military-related. I think after 15 years of service, my body was failing due to improper recovery times and inadequate rehabilitation. I've been out of the military for about 4/5 years now and i'm taking better care of my body and re-rehabilitating my injuries, which has allowed me to start skating again. Keeping the knees supporting group healthy will definitely reduce the likely hood of any of the knee injuries I mentioned. (Hamstrings, quads, IT bands, Hip Flexors, Calfs ect ect). No fancy gym stuff...just at some home body weight things. Long response 😂 I'm a talker
@@StevesSkateExplosion The street skating has been a lot harder since theres a lot more mobility and squatting motions. My back leg which has the most damage has been the one to lag behind. But as far as pain or weird nuisances, nothing really yet.
@@StevesSkateExplosion Yea I've watched, think I've watched all your vids, I just wanna see you progress onto making them a part of your regular runs. You got it dude :)
At least this time of year the kids are still in school when I go around 10am. But soon I’ll have to go around 6am partially to avoid people and partially to avoid heat of the day.
@@StevesSkateExplosion I like bowl skating but between work and family I have limited time to drive to skatepark which only has 1 tight bowl.. Maybe I could put a small ramp in driveway. Skating a local walk path is more doable and then throw in some ollies
@@StevesSkateExplosion local park is 15 minutes away and yes there are others an hour away. My real issue is working 6 days a week and finding equal time for skating and family
your going to increase stamina lol . i dont know if you remember back last summer when i was making fun of you and saying you had white man itis? i was saying to throw those arms up ? your doing it now, if you would only learn to tuck into your drop in now. just squat down on your board before you lean forward to drop in and it will shoot you out of that first transition like a rocket because you will get that perfect pump. it kind of spring loads your legs. i take that back your form is good there
@@StevesSkateExplosion no i was mistaken. your doing it right. it was a bad angle but then it changed i could see that you were right where you need to be. a world of difference in that year man.
Keep it up! You are inspiring us elders. I'm glad you're still using the salba vx, I have the same one with 58mm 93a dragon rat bones and it's fun
Dude I was totally just looking at 93a last night. Either the nano cubes or the dragon wheels or spitfires. Not sure which though. Or maybe all!
Today's a perfect day for a bowl day. 🤙🤙
Killin it!
Bro!!
55 y/o working on pumping the bowl, I still can't seem "rock out" of the bowl like you. I'll get it.
Awesome dude. Incredible job. Thanks for reaching out.

Wow you’re doing incredible! Love that dude. Thanks for watching.
Another fire video brother 🔥🔥🔥
Human Pendulum strikes back Bowl days are best!
Its pretty cool where youve got to. The 180 kickturn rolling back down was cool!
Bowl days are more exhilarating than Ollie days, but I gotta Ollie at some point, right?
Yeah, or you’d be being lazy and its not about that. Its about being not lazy when you skate 😉
lol - dude it took me a second to get what you were saying. Love that. Don’t skate lazily
Feels good to get the G73SkateExplosion fix, thanks man!! 🔥🤙🏻
Man, you are too kind!
Loving the bowl line you got going, great pumping and use of the roll in the middle. Smooth vibes 😎
Hey what caused you to need multiple knee surgeries? Was it from skating?

OMG that was a lot. After all that you’ve been through, it’s incredible to see you skate dude! Does the impact of street skating give you troubles?

Do you think the skating helps build you back to being totally strong again? Or does skating make it worse?
Nice work my dude
Thanks bro!
I need to see some lip tricks dude, rock fakies, half cab rocks and rock n rolls would be awesome :)
It’s several videos back but I’ve got some rock to fakies and rock n rolls for you. Think it says in the thumbnail.

Oh dude I’m so close to that. That’s why I gotta get all this pumping going because I haven’t strung tricks together before.
@@StevesSkateExplosion Full send! 🤟🤜🤛🤟
😄
Love your videos. Are you still on the Salba?
Yeah I’ve been switching around some stuff but this video has Salba with 92a Rictas I think. Softer than my usually 99a.
What time was that? I have a bowl at my skatepark, but there are always plenty of people inside/in the queue with me...
At least this time of year the kids are still in school when I go around 10am. But soon I’ll have to go around 6am partially to avoid people and partially to avoid heat of the day.
your videos are great . I want to better at bowl carving but I don't have time to go the park enough so may incorporate some street style.
Dude how far away is your park?
I find bowl skating is so great for the cardio, and honestly it feels like less potentially damaging to me than street.

maybe I'm overthinking everything just my nerves getting to me. I just need to get back to skating. 😅 hopefully in a few days

Okay, so I need more squatting at the drop in? Or the swoop up the quarter?

Thanks dude but it kinda feels slow to me. Perhaps if I was half my age it would go faster.
You should find some other old timers to skate with....and do some stretching yo...
Definitely need to stretch. Appreciate the feedback. 👍
lol.
