    Nice review. While this is an improvement with the handles vs the old Smallrig cage, I was really hoping Smallrig would have factored that most people serious enough to use a cage like this will be using an SSD with their iPhone 15s. All these "male to female to another male adapter to the SSD" these cage makers are requiring make it seem like an afterthought. I owned the older cage and it was super frustrating that I couldn't connect bluetooth mic adapters, or any L shaped adapters besides 6" messy long cables which didn't work well when on a gimbal. Everything else was fantastic - the build quality was top notch and I loved the multiple ways I could mount the cage to tripods, however I always felt it was a huge misstep with the USB port on this product, and again the new one seems to have the same issue. They could have just made the bottom port area wider and flatter, similar to the Beastcage. This new one is a step in the right direction, but it would have been so much nicer to see a new cage that actually had all of this factored in to provide mobile filmmakers what they really needed.

      yeah we kinda need a nice and easy solution with SSD and ND Filter

      @@MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl Exactly. I really like the lightness of the Smallrig cage vs Beastcage. I wish someone would make a cage that is lightweight, can allow lens and filter attachments, has built in USB C passthrough for charging and simultaneous connection to an SSD, and has a built in or modular clamp for various SSD drives sizes. The Smallrig cage is so close, but not factoring in external drives is bummer. Also, I kind of prefer the look of the older cage. The gunmetal finish gave it such a professional look.

      @@TheSpacemanSpliff yeah ... well the Neewer cage is on the way now, hopfully here by the end of the week, lest see how that one works ... still mostly the same "design" but a few little things are differnt that might make it a bit more usefull (on "paper" at least)

    Tanks for the video. Can you please test also the possibility to mount a magsafe battery and (at the same time) an ND filter? (When your adapater arrive). Tanks. Maybe is possible also mount an nd filter + magsafe battery with an SSD on top 😅☺️

    How would you rate this cage after using it for a while Michael? I am wondering which cage to go for for iPhone 15 pro this one or the beast grip one. What do you think? Thanks Glenn

    I saw on several websites saying that this Smallrig adapter only works for microphone/audio. You tested with SSD, did it work? My intention is to use it with a hub and connect the equipment. Because I live in Brazil, it makes more sense to buy on AliExpress than on Amazon USA, so I'm looking at a Hagibis adapter, I don't know the brand, but it's the solution with the best reviews on Ali that I've seen... Nice review!

    I personally didn’t like this cage because of the inconvenient connection of the filters. The cages and cases I'm currently looking at are LiteChaser, Fotorgear and NEEWER. But there are also disadvantages there, unfortunately!

      yeah I will test a few more accessories for this cage and also compare it to the Neewer Cage when it arrives late November (current info from Neewer)

    Someone needs to make a normal case that you can put a standard 52 mm filter screw on filter but with a removable adapter so when not using it for filming can use it as a phone all this magnetic crap I just want to use filters I already own. Might go back to just taping the filters on my case sick of these companies forcing you to buy new filters only for their systems big scam

      I ended up getting neewer cage as the latch on the small-rig was too loose and the filter adapter that came is threaded so I can use my 67mm filter from my Mirrorless cameras also the the threaded holes on the cage are higher then the button, so when you put it on a Gimble, it doesn’t depress the buttons

    Hi, ich nutze das SmallRig mit meinem iPhone 15 Pro und der T7 Touch. Eigentlich genau das gleiche Equipment wie du es nutzt mit dem USB-C Gummikabel. Allerdings habe ich von ArktisPro diesen MagSafe Magnetring. Dieser hält die SSD perfekt. Probiere das mal aus. Grüße

    Did you figure out a way to keep dust off the lens when the cage is on? For me since I carry my iphone with me everywhere, each time I want to take a photo or video, I have to remove the iphone from the cage and wipe the dust off, even with the filter attached. That is really annoying.

    This is the new Brandon Li designed cage I’m assuming … if it’s anything like the 14 Pro Max I’m there … I was about to get the lite chaser Polar Pro cage but found it to be US made & they make total JUNK. It didn’t even support mag safe battery. SR do & it’s been solid as rock.

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl
      @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl  Před 10 měsíci

      It is basically the Brandon Li cage … just a different color and without the signature and no included Fader ND Filter… built quality is great… like it always is with smallrig. Sidehandle has its downside’s but is overall quite good …
