I don't know if it was ever pointed out but Furina's VA is Amber Lee Connors who you may know as the voice of Android 18 from Dragon Ball Z Abridged
Furina is just great all around. One of the best written and performed characters in the series, and an absurdly good unit.
Like you said all of the archons are good units. Zhongli, Raiden, Nahida, and Furina are all characters I'd put into the highest tier in terms of what they offer meta/gameplay wise. Venti is honestly really good as well, and was just unfortunate enough to be such an early character that Kazuha ended up powercreeping him. That being said I'd still put Venti into a high A tier/maybe a low S tier with the rest of the archons. He may not be quite as good as Kazuha, but any character that can easily group enemies is a good character. It's why Sucrose is also such a viable pick despite being a launch 4* (not that that kind of thing matters when looking at Benette and Xingqiu for example).
Fontaine is most based on France; you should not find the idea of the populace wanting to execute their ruler all that surprising. It's probably a little less fair to try to predict Fontaine's storyline than it was when I was doing so last summer, given how much both the summer events and the first wave of minor events featuring researchers from Fontaine did to lay background. Still, aside from paying careful attention to both what you'll be told about that region and its archon right before going there (and remembering who is telling this to you and what it means she in particular is saying these things in that particular way), you only really need to know the following that you might not have heard:
* Fontaine is a nation influenced by Hydro (the element most connected with the concept of regeneration), has a perpetual waterfall hundreds of feet surrounding the nation, has some of the most advanced public engineering in the modern world, and somehow still has an energy crisis.
* Fontaine has a newspaper with continentwide subcribership, with apparent freedom of the press. The Steambird both can and does report on all the private and civic unpleasantness the countries you've so far been in just don't openly talk about.
* At some point in the preceding Hydro Archon's rule, evidence suggests there was a mass migration or exile of one specific magical race. The one survivor of this you can easily meet is hostile, and the ones you could have met in events don't want to talk about what happened or why.
All of that in mind, you should be fine by the end of your character's first day in Fontaine. As for the characters, I've so far failed to pull Charlotte, more or less accidentally pulled Neuvillette, and very deliberately got Furina. Given how slow I am to build new characters, she's by far been the more useful of the two. Furina is a very old-school catalyst user who just happens to wield a sword instead of the weapon type she "should" have. This can be fun.

I think they're taking it a bit too seriously this time around. But the most vocal players in the past have probably been the most competitive, so it's not surprising.
@@DanaOtken I played it earlier today and figured out a flaw, all the Hunter has to do is guard one of the things the Rebels are repairing and wait for the time to expire

Fontaine story is simply too good so its better to not tell you anything about it.
This was probably the best patch in genshin.
It had everything.
Two of the best story in genshin ever made,a new area,one of the best character ever added.
Now this version. Whew boy. This is when the Fontaine characters truly shine bright in the writing department. And how they were able to turn their audience’s perception on multiple things.
It’s a very loved version for a reason.
