Throughout time, men have waged war. Some for power, some for glory, some for honor ... and some for love.
Brad Pitt stars in an epic tale of passion, heroism, betrayal and war that has been passed from generation to generation since the dawn of civilization--the story of the battle for Troy.
A thousand years before the time of Christ, Trojan prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) abducts the legendary Greek beauty Helen, queen of Sparta (Diane Kruger), starting a war led by heroes Achilles (Pitt) and Hector (Eric Bana) that devastates the ancient world.
Based on the epic poem The Iliad by Homer.

Make these types of films again Warner. This was a great phase in the early 2000's. Also, the directors cut needs a 4K release.
Petersen destroyed the Iliad on purpose with this abomination. One of the worst movies of all time.
"I wouldn't want to fight him"
"That's why no one will remember your name"
Even the credits have him as "Messenger boy" 🤣
And so a great meme was born
😂😂😂😂 really!
Pitt was born for this role
That is why no one will remember your name. Coldest and best line ever.
Director’s cut music: fantastical
Original music: suspenseful
Sean bean narrating
my brain: “MONEY”
My brain, CIV 6
@@ekrenz5268 Totally the man's a legend
Troy was the
last great historical action film. There was some CGI used. But, not to the obscene extent now used!
I love historical war films and this is one of my favourite.
The last samurai, 300, braveheart and kingdom of heaven are some of the best
no they aren't
You also just picked some of the most historically inaccurate movies to come out of Hollywood. But yeah, they're all great movies :)
KOH Directors cut takes it for me. Truly an epic film.
Wow, you actually did manage to list all the absolutely ZERO historical accuracy movies out there))
But, yes, I also love such movies
I'm talking about great movies not historical accuracy.
If you want to learn history from Hollywood then you're biggest idiot.
What do you mean "preview"? The film is 20 years old! 😂
Any way, thanks for the upload
Ugh can't believe it's been 20 years already. I was a junior in high school when this movie came out.
is it not because they will release the directors cut?
@@satioOeinas Probably, yes! 😄 But I watched the (or "a") director's cut of Troy eleven years ago. I specifically remember a scene in the beginning where Hector confronts Paris about a secret affair (Helene) the night before they sail from Sparta back to Troy. Not sure what this one will be about. 🤷🏽♀️
Old Movie but one of the bests, alongside 300. I hope one day we will be able to see more exceptional and astonishing movies like this!
the problem with Director's Cut is that music is changed so much to original that it's like watching different movie sometimes.. Please release original cut with old music.
Exactly that. Hate the directors cut. Really wish they'd release blu ray of the theatrical cut
Yup
Well, that's the point of a director's cut.
This is the director's intended score of choice.
@@AngrySilence and its better more dramatic and tense
The worst is how hard is to find the theatrical cut on blu ray.
One of my favorite movies
Never thought I'd see Mad-Eye Moody, Legolas and Bruce Banner sharing a feast.
Except for the music editing, Director's cut would be a masterpiece.
I agree. Changing the soundtrack ruined it.
I wish they bring this movie on 4k
I knew there was a reason I was waiting to buy Troy on Blu-ray
Grand Maester Pycelle in his prime lol
Logan Roy is fighting for thousands of years
Him and Grand Master Pycelle
I missed to watch this epic in theatre...😭
Fact: Pitt suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon during filming, the irony.
“that’s why no one will remember your name”
kid took this to heart and became Alexander the Great
Trojan war and Alexander the Great are hundreds of years apart.
no matter how long the directors cut is, I will never forgive how dirty they did my boy Menelaus.
I didnt know Achillies Fought Johnny Sins.
I love this film.
One of The Best Fighting ! Even only a view seconds
I had to go back and watch Between two Ferns with Mr. Bradley Pitts.
Mr. Pitt’s greatest performance💯
🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠
The director's Cut of Troy is faaaaaaaaaar superior to the theatrical cut.
Except for the music, which was butchered by the director.
No idea there was a directors cut
“May the gods keep the wolves in the hills, and the men in our beds”
Release it on 4k UHD disk!
The music in the theartical cut is way better than the music in the director's cut.
first fight the best offf all fight movieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
The music in Directors Cut is horrible and doesn’t fit most scenes mood.
Bought it but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
The first five shots are on Monty python level hilarious
One of my favourite movies of ALL TIMES!!! Watched it on release...studios had big BALLS back then, not like now, i swear the last time ive seen something this big was Kingdom of Heaven/Mongol and few others probably.....all of these movies came out more than 15 years ago! Hollywood is completely dead.
WB for goodness sake, why isn't this video 4k? Reupload it right now!
I have this on blu-ray
Is that Sean Bean narrating
Just looked it up, yes it is.
Yeah he's like a mentor figure I believe @@snitox
Cant believe he survives the siege of Troy.
@@UncleRuckus2134 he is Odyseus, he survival everything 😂
Yes. Believe it or not, Sean Bean actually lived to tell the story
I remember it getting panned heavily for historical inaccuracies and anachronisms but it honestly was fairly good. "Buhh the god stuff wasn't real hurr hurr". Well yeah. Obviously Dingus.
I loved that outlook. The truth behind the myth captivates me much more than corny fantasy.
"That's why no one will remember your name!"
🥶
I swear that little boy in the beginning looks like a kid version of Orlando Bloom ( Paris).
Do not like the directors version the music being cut out is atrocious. Wish they'd release a blu ray version of the original cut.
IS THERE NO ONE ELSE???
Present 10 Hours
"My King! Achilles is not with the army."
"Where is he!?"
"I sent a cute boy with a British accent all over Thessaly to look for him."
Director’s cut has been out for years I have it on blu ray what is this all about??
At this point hollywood aint even trying no more, they re-releasing films that are good but not classics.
"At this point"???....
This Directors Cut was released in 2007... stop, take a breath and think about what you actually know before you say something.. too many people are too quick these days to blame Hollywood for this or that when they don't have have any of the facts right. I've see people like yourself even go so far as to blame Hollywood for movies that weren't even produced in the United States....
Hollywood is rife with problems, yes. But lazily blaming them for most everything that occurs in the media is also a cultural problem that needs to be worked on.
Is Bernard Hill part of this movie?
Who's the guy at 5:22 saying "Look at the men's faces..."?? He sounds identical to a voice in Sea of Thieves but I don't think it is an actor related to that game,
Edit: It's John Shrapnel, now deceased. The actor who plays the Mysterious Stranger in Sea of Thieves really sounds like they're channeling this guy here.
So how is this different?
Is this a different release? There was a directors cut years ago with Achilles’ mother , a few other things.
2:55 HAMZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAĞĞĞĞĞĞ 3:18 SÜÜÜÜLEEEEYMAAAAĞĞĞĞĞNNNNNNNN
Did they put a muscle suit on Nathan Jones for this scene?
The original soundtrack when achilles puts his sword out agains boagrius was epic and fits the scene perfectly , this one just completely ruined it and I ask why ? 😅
Ευκοίλης!
Im I become director now,😍
es mascherano ese
Is this a new thing or what?
Cause I liked Troy but if I am getting a Kingdom of heaven style directors cut I will buy ten.
How do you think Agamemnon would do as CEO of Waystar RoyCo?
Well said
Warner Bros UK and Ireland? Hehehe.
Did anyone ask for this... No... Are we disappointed... NO!
6:20 Here's where Roman Reigns stole the Superman Punch.
The original was way better, the score change so much is this version
This movie shows an underrated version of hector. Hector was equally strong as Ajax and skilled as achilles. This movie shows that achilles killed hector within couple of minutes which is highly impossible. It would have been a long fight.
That did feel like they did Hector ugly. I would've loved to have seen Bana put some fear in Brad Pitt, if only for a moment
We are talking about Achiles the best of the best..the greatest Greek warrior 🤪💪
This movie wanted to make a more grounded, more realistic Troy rather than a mythical one. These are "real people" and there is nothing supernatural about them. Achilles is also not immortal in this film and doesn't have any superhuman abilities, he is just a man who is a highly skilled warrior. There is no such thing as "fighting for days" in real life between two people. Most fights end in seconds, some last minutes, very rarely they go on for a long time and if it's long then both are probably severely injured by the end if not dead with these weapons involved. I like the original Iliad but I prefer this more realistic "what actually could've happened" approach to the film rather than gods, demi-gods, supernatural magical stuff etc.
@@GaborGeorgewhat i mean is that hector and achilles fought 3 to 4 times before the final fight.
First one here
the directors cut was released in 2007... why show this now on youtube ?
Bcz Selling Cut Versions Too, Bcz Many Pples STILL DON'T Know IT
So Sean Bean will die in this cut?
Why you want your name to remember ,mortal don't live for ever, are you begin remembered after a century, maybe.but you won't know ,from the moment you are dead ,you know nothing
Theatrical version is far, far better.
The music here doesn't fit any scene. It's way to dramatic in non dramatic scenes, and way too non-dramatic in dramatic scenes...
If the bold guy had worn the armors he would have a good chance to win alas he was bare chested
My leading frustration with this project is the casting of very scandanavian looking men into mediteranian roles.
Such a cool movie otherwise.
There has never been a country called Greece in history, why are you teaching people a false history! ?!
Achilles has ADHD. I'm amazed no one diagnosed him.
For fk sake use the original soundtrack!!!!
no coz Id pay $1000 each to watch DUNE 1 and 2 directors cut.
How about the naked girls?
The Director's Cut...^^
Ah yes, from the writer who butchered Game of Thrones, the film that portrayed Achilles as straight
Awful movie
Let's make an awful movie even worse!
It's 2024, that's the whole point.
Stupid movie.
Not stupid. Amazing!*
Its definitely not perfect but I know lots of people who say they liked it. There is definitely some objective entertainment value to be had from it but I'm sorry you didn't experience that...
What movie from that year did you enjoy?
