    I love that you showed the problem areas and the resulting fixes. Sometimes I give up too soon when what I'm doing isn't as good as that I see on etsy or Utube. Thank you!

      Sometimes I feel bad when I show how to do something then have to go back later and change it. But I figure it shows how to "make it work". Things rarely turn out how you imagined it on the first try.

    I like the clasp! I recently threw away a couple old handbags, but removed all the hardware that could be re-purposed and started a "collection." Purses can have D-rings of different sizes, swivel hooks, and great clasps, etc. That kind of stuff can cost a lot when purchased as separate notions. Also, the notions section won't have the variety of clasps that are found on handbags. They can provide a truly unique garment!

    I enjoyed your step by step tutorial. I happen to have some very large sweatshirts and wondered what I can do with them. I like the fact that you discussed the possible challenges and how to handle them. I'm looking forward to seeing your other videos!
    Thank you for the great presentation.

    Very creative! I liked that you pointed the mistakes but it didn't take away from how much I love your "new" sweatshirt. I feel inspired to try the same thing and believe I am no expert when it comes to sewing.

    I think you are very creative and have a great eye for style. I would never have thought to do something like this, and I love how the piece came to life as you worked on it. Very nice!

    Good effort at least you have something wearable. as you rightly said an experience dressmaker would tackle the whole project differently. eg cut through all the seams and recut with no centre back seam and no troublesome armpits. This is great as a quick fix for a beginner, well done.

    I'm kind of a snuggly person so I THINK I would of left a little more at the bottom.(not length) Maybe angled it the other direction in front. I don't know I like this design too. Maybe do 2! Lol. Very cute though.
    On the side instead of making that dart or whatever it was under the arm. On that side seam I would sewed that seam out so it would of met the old side seam. Just a thought.

    Love the grey, it really looks couture' to me. I love the clasp at the top, cowl-/style neck, angled front, open-only hooked. Really turned out classy. ignore not my spouse' post, Melissa

    The style of the remade shirt is really nice but I think you could be clearer in the way you teach and lay the piece out more as you explain. I have been sewing for 50+ yrs.

    You for got to wash & dry the sweatshirt to shrink it because sometimes the sweatshirt will get wider & shorter.

    • @TheBusyBeeSews
      @TheBusyBeeSews  Před 7 lety +2

      I wasn't worried about it shrinking because it was used. I assumed the previous owner had washed and dried it many times. It is a good idea when working with new material.

    Why didn't you finish the collar ends by stitching it closed! It looks unfinished. I always cut the front a little larger just in case it needs adjusting I have that option to do so. Also the back and sleeves to give movement ease.

    • @TheBusyBeeSews
      @TheBusyBeeSews  Před 9 lety +3

      gladtidings4all since the edges are all raw I left the collar ends raw, either way will work. Thanks for the fitting tips, it fits me perfectly but others might want it roomier.

    I love the look but what happens to the raw edges when you wash and dry it?

    • @ReadingRhino
      @ReadingRhino Před 6 lety

      Linda Brash, the raw edges have held up very well. This will always depend on the fabric. Unfortunately the clasp came apart in the wash : (
