Gino Soccio is a Canadian disco record producer. His heritage is Italian. His only US Billboard Hot 100 entry was the #48 hit single "Dancer" in 1979, but he did hit #1 on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart twice ("Dancer" / "Dance to Dance" in 1979, and "Try It Out" / "Hold Tight" in 1981, six weeks each).

Used to hear this song late at night on WBLS in NYC 1984. In the dark this song always made me feel like I was on a gigantic intergalactic space vessel travelling to the stars. Gino Soccio's music had that power to put you into a dream. One moment there is singing, then next your on a musical journey. In "Dancer" there is an interlude where you are just floating in a world of reverberation. In "Turn It Around" it feels like a happy sci-fi space odyssey mixed with music and romance; not Star Trek or Star Wars, but more like Buck Rogers in the 30th Century.

They used to play this at the all night clubs and to cool down the dancers around 4-5am. Also when the main crowd was leaving the club and only the the die hard dancers were left. Since I was a due hard dancer, I loved when ppl. started to leave and only the true dancers were left in the dance floor and took the floor back. They also played the best songs at those hours bc the djs didn’t have to cater to the main crowd. I used to always a half hit of mda and around 12-1am. go to m friends car and just mellow out and avoid the big crowd inside the club. Then come back into the club and half the crowd had gone home. That when the mda fully kicked in and the dance floor was pretty much all mine. This principe San Francisco dancer once told me she loved watching me dance. I was like really???

Its unreal how I get thrown back in time playing this one ....I`m back in `82 behind the bar in the most popular Discotheque in my hometown. Working there was such a dream and pleasure , best view on the dance floor and entrance....making great money while seeing all your friends ( and girlfriends!! ) and getting treated to the best music there was that time. This was a place where almost every night at least a thousand people showed up , in their best outfit off course , going off on the latest USA import 12inches....like Sharon Redd, Gary`s Gang , KASHIF , Gwen Guthrie , T-Connection , Chemise , KLEEER , Class Action , Change , Rose Royce , the Players Association etc etc etc.....Gód am I thankful I was there !!..KEEP ON DANCIN` FOLKS!!!
