4:11 Hey dude, love your videos nice and concise. One thing I would add though is to start off by showing the location of the parts being worked on, like is shown in this frame. Because at the beginning where you showed disconnecting the wire from the starter a lot of us don't know exactly where you're working at.

You do not have to lower the sway bar! You can remove two bolts holding the brake line move it aside. the Automatic transmission dipstick comes apart right behind the frame rail. The top of it unbolts from the block. Starter slides out from the fender well.

just done this today wasn't too fun but doable mine is a manual transmission... manual there is a bracket shaped like a triangle attached to the transmission two 14mm on the transmission 1 14mm attached to the exhaust if you have a manual transmission you don't have to take the sway bar off you can sneak by the rack and pinion lines but gently moving it aside the fun part is putting the new one up and holding it up to line the bolts in the hole without crossthreading , thanks for the video it helped me out

Fantastic video - thank you. I bought my '01 4Runner new and now have 540,000 miles on it. The starter has never been messed with in any way. But I know it can't go on too much longer. :)

Clear and easy to follow. 2000 2 wheel drive was a easy swap. Thanks!

Nice job! Thanks for sharing. What led you to change out your starter? I have a slow crank, no start situation, so wondering if this is my issue (bought a new battery a few months ago).

Starter comes right out, wiggle it straight down, never needed to remove anything, when getting to the two bolts on the Starter, just remove exhaust bracket for clearance, from the time the car went in the air, and back down. 90 minutes, with floor jack. When doing anything electrical on your car always remove batterie terminal,. Difficulty level 3 out of 10. Save money do it yourself

Did you jack your truck up at all or just lay underneath?

So I have a 3rd gen 4runner limited and I watched this video and it was simple enough for me to handle it. I followed step by step and for some reason my starter doesn't even click and it keeps blowing my starter relay. Any idea? the only thing I've noticed is when I plug the single wire into the starter it doesn't click into place no matter how much force I apply.
