      The media MVP, yes. The majority of those voters don't know the history of the award (i.e., the criteria), are too prone to confirmation bias (media members are stupid in general), and are "analytically challenged," which is a euphemism for some other word. It should be 1. Harden 2. Kawhi 3. Westbrook

    people don't realize that when a guy is as ball dominant, it takes guys off their rhythm and lose confidence. So when he's out they're already out of rhythm and have no shot. That's the issue. Russell makes them rely on him because of his style and as a result, it weakens their teams natural ability

    • @scottbennici4689
      @scottbennici4689 Před 7 lety +13

      M.A. 2.0 what people don't realize is that they're just not shooters. McDermott is the only known shooter on the team. Ryan Anderson=known shooter, Eric gordon=known shooter. Lou Williams=known shooter. Whether Russ's teammates are in rhythm or not, you can't rely on them to consistently make shots.

    • @Android602715
      @Android602715 Před 7 lety +4

      M.A. 2.0 wrong, if you watched the game, guys were getting involved up until the fourth. Even parts of the game before, russ would make a pass, and the guy would pass it back to him. In the fourth NO ONE SHOT because they kept handing the ball to him, he had 13 assists, its not like he wasn't getting people involved, but the fourth quarter they didn't want to shoot. The only basket i can think of was a long three from oladipo at the end of the 3rd, after that he kept dumping it back to russ

    Even though he has a sub-par team, no excuses for the fourth quarter performance. If he is great he can will the Thunder past the Rockets like in 2007 when LeBron willed that trash Cavs team past the Pistons.

    • @quintonlovett
      @quintonlovett Před 7 lety +14

      AK740 yeah I'm happy Westbrook is in the paint when he chooses; you see him block a 7 foot tall Capela and take the ball up the court and score? Oh ok!! He picks his spots if you watch the games; not just when he needs a tenth rebound or assist

    I have no idea what happened to Westbrook, he was playing great ball in the first 3rd quarters, but he decided to play hero ball in the 4th. There's a reason why KD left, he plays too much hero ball and chucks up dumb shots.

Durant shot 32/81 and 7/28 from 3 in games 5-7 in the WCF. He shot just as poor as westbrook and when durant isnt shooting well what is he good for? The argument that his team mates are bad is one of the worst I've ever heard, Westbrook shot 17/43, if harden did the same he would easily get 50 points a game but the rockets wouldn't be winning, Westbrook is the reason they lost, this guy is still chasing the triple double, that's why they lose.

    His triple double occurred before the fourth quarter began. He also shot well until the fourth. He sat down with 12 pt lead and came back in a few minutes later with a 3 point lead. They had zero offense with him on the bench, so they brought him back early. Fourth court his legs were shot and you could see it. He could not get to the basket and settled for jumpers. Jumpers with no legs = 4/18. Also he couldn't get to the basket so that's why he couldn't get his teammates going in the fourth since most of his assist come off drive and kick plays. They need to get him his rest going into the fourth, so they can close out a game.

  • @laurentkelly150
    @laurentkelly150 Před 7 lety

    Colin is right about Westbrook's 4th quarter where he played horribly but to negate the fact that Westbrook carried the team to the big lead in the first place shows him up as a hater. It was not OKC who were outplaying Houston in the first three quarters, it was Westbrook who was outplaying Houston. He went from Jordan to Jamal Crawford on a bad night in the blink of an eyelid.

    I can't take Colin serious once he said OKC is the same team as it was last year, no it's not. Last year they had Ibaka, Morrow, Waiters, Foye, Payne, and KD. The only people from last year is Westbrook, Singler, Adams, Roberson, Huestis, Kanter and Collison. And of that group only Adams, Roberson, Kanter, and Collison(from Russ's rookie days), have played with him long to be comfortable on the court with him.

  • @nflprimehighlights1060

    People say Westbrook doesn't pass the ball yet he's top 5 in assists. People also blame Westbrook for the Thunder losing against the Warriors but seem to forget how Kevin Durant only shot 38% and 32% when the Thunder had chances to close the Warriors out before having to play a game 7 and if Westbrooks teammates were that great why didn't they step up when Westbrook and Durant struggled and won them the series.

    Let's all play the Colin Cowherd drinking game! Take a drink anytime Colin brings up any of the following:
    -Brings up Lebron for no reason
    -Mentions his divorce
    -Makes a marriage analogy.
    -Making fun of triple doubles
    -references Kevin Durant leaving OKC
    -Makes an unfunny joke.
    -Any use of the phrase, " This is why...."
    -Talks about Russ being the only player he would take his son to see.
    -Compares Russ to Iverson, Steve Francis, or Stephon Marburry.
    -Uses the term ball eccentric point guard.
    -Makes an analogy that doesn't make any sense.
    -Prefaces that Russ is a great player then rips him.
    -Interrupts Kristine.
    -Use of the words "Dude" or "Brah".
    -Awkwardly laughs at his own joke.
    -Says something around this is Why Kevin Durant left or this is why no one wants to play with Russ.
    -Mentions the MVP of MVP voting.
    Reply how many drinks you took!

      I mean true, but Westbrook wasn't penetrating to get open looks for teammates. He was legit iso and just jacking up random shots. They need to build the team around him and get him better spot shooters like Klay thompson or Korver, Or someone like that. And then pray he uses his brain and passes the ball sometimes.

  • @keiferjanz3197
    @keiferjanz3197 Před 7 lety

    The thing with Westbrook and okc is that he is so damn ball dominate that if he's not taking the shoot it's a shoot off his one pass. You don't see okc swing swing making the hockey assist. In the playoffs it's easy to lock in on a player and team that plays this way. That's why harden is the better player and in the better team is he is not only great at making open looks and his teammates better playing the puck and role but he is also willing to make that initial pass for the hockey assist to get the ball swinging and the d on its heels. That's why he is the MVp this year, he lets the game come to him, trusts his teammates, puts them in successful situations and has played the right way this year. Russel is stat chasing, forcing off balance shots, 3pt shots, wild drives, over dribbling, not guarding the 3pt line.... he's the most athletic player in the league but he relays to heavily on it

  • @Shaunchiprue
    @Shaunchiprue Před 7 lety

    I never seen a MVP candidate that doesn't have an affect on his most average teammates in a way that they play at levels inspiringly higher than they ever have. Triple doubles or not. Having that extra unmph that makes your teammates believe THEY are all MVP candidates is what (I thought) was part of the MVP skill sets. This is new new.

    I'm tired of everybody saying Westbrook's teammates suck. Last year Steven Adams was a beast in the playoffs. Tsk Gibson is solid, Doug McDermott is an above average shooter, and Enes Kanter is a contender for sixth man of the year. His teammates are at least equal to Harden's if not better

  • @RCortez1986
    @RCortez1986 Před 7 lety

    Anyone who thought the Thunder could stand a chance against the Rockets just doesn't know basketball.
    With that being said, Westbrook is still the best player in this playoff series.
    He basically almost beat a much better team with little help from his team.
    He is a coldblooded killer that knows the best chance his current team has of
    winning is by him doing exactly what he is doing.
