I love Taylor so much, but I completely agree. I think the project achieved its goal of letting her release her emotions & thoughts, but as a body of work it’s quite clunky and needed a bit more quality control 😭

To me, the album felt like a letdown from an artist narrative perspective. I watched Taylor write fantastic bops and songs with a lot of personal dissatisfaction with her dating life (to put it mildly).
When Folklore released with lyrics like “"cold was the steel of my axe to grind for the boys who broke my heart, now I buy their babies presents", it gave me VERY REAL chills- it felt like a moment of introspection, humor and growth. I appreciated that same vibe in Evermore and Midnights (Anti-hero felt like the ultimate post-therapy “I think maybe I’m the problem”)
So to then go from that momentum, that arc of growth, to BACK to songs like But Daddy I Love Him? I left so dissatisfied. Your comments on the sameyness of the tracks just seems to heighten that idea of getting stuck in square one again, and NOT in a clever, self-referential way. I’m with you 100% on your thoughts on this! 🤝
I think the only thing I disagree in the video is on Florida, but I’m simply too biased lol- I’m a Florence stan who lives in Florida, so that song was MADE for me, specifically me and not anyone else, clearly 😂🙏🏼

I agree with you about how she was showing huge emotional growth and introspection throughout her career, and then suddenly full circle back.

I’m a swiftie and honestly I totally get this perspective. Anyone pretending like this is an amazing album are just too proud to say any different. Is it good? Absolutely. Does it deserve hype? Probably not

This album isn't for the public ears. It's not meant to have songs people are always craving for. Taylor wanted to emphasize poetry with melody and emotions, that's the concept of the album.
Yeah, I definitely agree it's very personal. but if it's not for public ears, why release it?

In short, this album is not for you, it's for those who has better lyric comprehension.
I just don't understand why you have to be so mean, to quote taylor swift. He kindly & eloquently voiced his opinion, whilst complimenting the heck out of Taylor as a lyricist. Why do you need to come in here & make a comment like he's stupid, like he can't comprehend lyrics? It's just mean, plain & simple.
Calling someone stupid, or at least alluding to it, based on their well thought out & presented opinion, is such a low blow.
Sorry you get my rant, but I've seen way too many comments like this from Swifties & it's not cool. (Coming from a taylor swift fan)
