I forgot to talk about two things: no the flight back, I got Nikash a bassinet and sat in economy at the bulkhead (which means lots of space for your legs and the baby gets a place to sleep. This is also a really great option, but the business class is key so you both sleep and kick off your trip right. Second, I mentioned my Doona carseat/stroller in the beginning, but forgot to say how much it came in handy! It was really nice to have one big item like doubled as both instead of bringing two separate ones. Happy travels!
Hi - loved your video. Super helpful as we are going to be going to Central Asia with our soon-to-be-toddler (13 months) in a couple months. You said that you got a bassinet for Nikash on the way back...but it seems like all the airlines I have researched cut off the bassinet usage before her age. But you seemed like you were able to do it at 16 months! What airline were you flying and what were the restrictions there? Thanks!
Susan Yara hi thank you for the great video. Quick question, if my son does not fit in the bassinet then can I use the space to set up a sleeping area by putting blanket and cushions . Is it allowed?
Déesse assez des de💖💕💕💕💋💕💕
Hi Susan, I will be traveling with my toddler soon to Asia. One question i had was, what did you do with the Doona? Did they allow you to take it inside the airplane?
Did you take the Doona base too? Also did you buy the padded carrier for the doona?
The portable highchair is GENIUS! Thanks for this video!
Yay for a successful international trip!
I gotta tell you, I took your shelf stable milk hack and it was a game changer! 🙌🏼 Not just for flights but any outing. I carry that milk w me now and I don’t have to carry a bulky, heavy ice pack anymore. Thank you for that tip!
My mind is blown over when you pulled out that travel high chair. I travel constantly with my 18 month old and I definitely need this.
It's amazing!
I’m so impressed by how much you prepared! You’re a great mama
This was such a helpful video! Probably THE MOSTA helpful one I’ve seen yet. Thank you for posting!
Milk and pacifier clip are great suggestions! Thank you
Your videos are so helpful!! And I always LOVE your product recommendations for my 14 month old. Thank you!
Alaina H Yay! I’m so glad to hear that!
I love the Post It Notes idea! That's a new one!
Thank you Susan for your informative video. My wife and I are travelling from Melbourne Australia to New York with our 16 month old girl in November this year. You've given me a few valuable ideas worth considering
Probably the most helpful travel toddler video I’ve watched thank you
Great information Susan!
Ignore the naysayers. Traveling with small children is unpredictable so you have to be prepared - especially for long trips. I’m sure this video has helped many parents prepare for their flights, short or long.
“They’re kinda like crocs, but better because they’re cute” lol I loved that 😂
You can take it on if your child has his own seat. Then you can install it.
Wow what an amazing video! Thank you for all the tips!
I love the way you film your videos. Straight to the point and very informative. Also, I feel like my friend is over and giving great advice lol
I have no kids & this was so well thought out. Im saving this for the future since i do like to travel internationally & plan to bring my future kids with me. I can tell You are a great attentive mom! 💙 thanks for sharing
Great video. Very helpful. Going on a 11 hour flight with my 15 month old son. This gave me some courage.
Here in the UK and in every airport I have ever been in, infants and small children are allowed unlimited snacks and liquids. I don't know if you knew this. Anything they need, even medicine like calpol or nurofen. Most airports have a family section you can go to to get through security so you don't need to take anything out your bag.
Thank you so much Susan! It really very helpful!
Thank you so much Susan for this video.Nikash and my son Ethan are only few months apart and i can relate well to your videos. Loved your tips on this one. He had his 1st trip to India in dec and I guess I took with me most of the things you have on this video and it was gold!
See I actually watch a lot of these videos not as a mother but as a daycare teacher looking to see things from a mother's point of view. Clearly you have all of your bases covered. I know you've done a what's in my diaper bad video but I'd love to see what happens when you take Ash, in all his adorableness, on an outing. From transitioning from what he's doing to the getting ready process to leaving the house to the park or which ever outing you would go on and back again. Thank you for your content! Hugs and tickles to your cutie-pie!
Oh, that's a good idea! It's a little hard to do since my hands are tied in those situations, but I'll see if someone can help me document it.
You seem like such a lovely person! Love your video.
I'm taking a flight alone with my 3 year old twins next month! Wish me luck! Xxx
Thanks for this! I was able to share with a lot of military mamas that are moving to Korea or Japan and have questions about long flights with their kiddos. This helped a lot!1
Thank you so much. This was so helpful. We are traveling to South Africa this summer. So, I took lots of notes.
This was so helpful. Thank you!!!
That mustard colour really suits you! Much love from Manchester, England xxx
So helpful!! Love this video
You’re such an amazing mommy! Love you
You're so pretty. Also, thanks for recommending the shelf stable milk, didn't think of that!
Thank you so much! I am planning now for a trip to the UK and Spain. Our daughter is 17m old so this was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you! (Wish us luck) ;)
Caution note for parents that let their child play with old cell phones! If there is battery to the phone, the phone can call 911. I am a dispatcher and we get 50k calls a year at my center alone from kids playing with disconnected cell phones tying up our resources that are needed for actual emergencies. Sometimes we have gotten over 250 calls in one day from the same phone. Please make sure you're monitoring your child if giving them an old phone.
Been using the sleep sack since day one. It's the answer to everything for bed time lol
This was really helpful! I have traveled with my baby before but she was only 6 months old, now that she's 12 months things are a lot different! One thing I found really helpful was our Babyzen yoyo stroller which you can take into the airplane with you as a carryon, on our last trip we took our regular stroller which big and bulky and it was a struggle so ended up getting a yoyo stroller while we were there and it was a game changer! It has become my favorite everyday stroller as well! Now I got my placemats, disposable bibs and make-shift high chair ready!!
Moza I love my Babyzen too!! It’s the stroller I keep in my car so I tend to use it the most. I got a Doona shortly after because I had to get a back-up car seat to use in other cars (like nanny or my husband’s), so I figured it was more handy to have since we like to travel.
“Take a sip” 😂
Thank you for this. My son is actually 16 months and we were supposed to travel to korea but our trip was cancelled due to covid. Glad i saw this to prepare for our rescheduled flight.
WHAT THE HECK! SO helpful! Thank you! I love the sticker idea. Planning a trip to Europe for next year and I'm a super planner (type A here). Um, those placemats. Genius. And I've been wondering about the high chair situation. I even asked a stranger what she does with her toddler (laughing face). Great video!
Love the tips!! We don't upgrade to Business Class but use Flyaway Kids Bed to help our 3yo & 18mth stretch-out to sleep & play on the plane. Love, Love, Love it!
Awesome tips! I'm actually flying to South Korea in a few months and my baby will be 10 month old by then and I'm so nervous!! Helpful video!
So helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. These are all great suggestions, some I didn't think about. I'm going to look into the highchair and wiress headphones. Even though I traveled international with my baby at 6 and 11 months, she will be 2.5 yrs the next time we get on a plane. It's a different ballgame then. Oh! The stick-it notes are genius. I am teacher and my stash is endless. Lol
I will be on a 24h flight with two children, thanks for the helpful tips!!!
amazing and really helpful
So helpful thanks!
Great video! I just has a newborn and i wasnt sure if i will feel confidence bring him to Korea or outside of the states when he just 1yrs old because of the long flight, but you make me feel much better.
Im flying to Bangkok in February (24+ hours), thanks for all of the great tips.
Thank you so much Awesome video!!!!
So glad i watched this. Fohnd reusable sandwich baggies. And that highchair on amazon. N the tips were helpful THANK YIUU
Thank you so much Susan. I can't tell you how helpful your video has been. We are planning a trip to india to meet family and I was really really searching everywhere for some tips to travel with a toddler. My daughter is just 3months older than your son, so this video just became my one stop video. And that part where Nikash is walking around in Seoul is just too cute😍
shruthi talithaya Have so much fun in India!
Susan Yara thank you so much
Haha stick it notes! Great idea! ❤️
excellent presentation. thank you
This is an awesome video!
this motivated me to even consider a a long haul trip with my toddler lol
squirtle! great choice Nikash!
I love your videos! I have also been admiring your necklace for a while now - it seems to go with everything. I was wondering where I can buy one like that (if you don't mind me asking)? You are such a stylish mama!
Perfect tips
I'm flying alone with my toddler in a few weeks and I'm stresssssssed. Lol thanks for the tips!
I love your videos!! And, where did you get your top from?!
Thanks so much for sharing all your traveling tips! We are heading from New York to Egypt for 10 days and I am concerned about the jet-lag and adjusting his sleep schedule. Have any sleep tips from your recent trip?
You could also use use powdered milk/toddler formula. I use toddler formula in an avent formula dispenser.
first time flying with my 13 month old. she will be 14 months when we travel. Thanks for all the tips. My flight is only 3 and a half hours so that's not too bad.
You are amazing ❤
Great video! :) thanks
I love your simplicity! I don’t have a baby but I love getting baby tips from you 😅
Where is your top from?
Hi Susan! Thank you for this very useful video! I was wondering if you could bring doona onto the plane or you have to check it in? Thanks!
WOW! don't know really what to say! I'M JUST SO THANKFUL!
I was looking for an amazing video like this, I literally was holding my pen¬e and was noting whatever I missed!
You really inspired and helped me, thank you very much
I'm a subscriber from now
Those headphones are super awesome!! I’m HOH and one thing I’m really careful about it protecting my little ones hearing.
Awesomely helpful video! Where did you get your tote bag from??
This video was so helpful Susan!! Thank you! Here is hoping we can do some traveling in the near future 🤞🏼
You're the best Su
Such a helpful video, thanks Susan! We’ll be doing a lot of traveling later this fall with my soon-to-be (tomorrow!) one year old and I loved a lot of these products-will be purchasing! Is the Doona an infant seat or a convertible? Did you use it in taxis/cars while you were abroad? Also a tip for the iPhone, you can lock the screen in an app using “Guided Access” under the Settings application (we use it for my students all the time). It prevents them from hitting the home button and getting out of the app! Thanks again!
I've been wondering how to lock the screen!! Thank you! And the Doona is for infants, but it can fit a baby up to 35lbs and you just need at least an inch between the top of their head and the top of the carseat. Nikash still fits in it and he's 18 months old. I used it in taxis too becuase it's pretty fast to buckle in.
Amazing.. !!
Hi Susan, thanks for very informative video.. please share the brand name or any link for the portable High chair you have shown in this video..
Hi Susan, great practical video! We travel a lot with our 19 months old toddler between Europe and Australia and I still found some interesting tips to try (post it!!! genius!) I'd love to know where's your tote from?
My daughter is 18 months what car seat combo did you use? She’s 21 pounds and 31 inches long
You video was very timely as we’re getting ready for our first trip to Europe with our 13 month old son. I just ordered the milk you recommended. So convenient. I’ve been stressing about carrying a cooler with us. Glad we don’t need that anymore. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Cristina S2014 The milk saved me! Just know, once you open it, you have to drink it within an hour or so. They might ask you to open it at security, but you can say no and opt for a pat down instead (at least that’s what happened at LAX...other countries didn’t ask at all).
Susan Yara Good to know. Thanks!
please where is your t-shirt from, love the color
I think if you are traveling with a child or children, airport security is ok with water. I also took bottle and hot water bottle + formula and they all pass smoothly
Great tips and cute boy and Mom!

Thanks so much for making this video!
Please could you tell me the name of the travel high chair? The Amazon link isn’t working and I can’t see the name in the video either. It looks so useful!
Thank you for making this video! We’re flying to Croatia in August with my then to be 13 month old. Can you let me know what apps you had on your baby’s iPhone? Super Simple Songs are getting old around here, for us, not her 😄
Thank u so much! Such an informative video. We’ll be traveling to India soon with my almost 12 month old baby and this video will be my checklist 😊
Amazing videos with so many great tips!! I'm taking my 2yo daughter back to Taiwan from the US next January and I'm panicking lol Your video really helps and I think I am more confident that I can make it lol
how was the jet lag there and back home? Did he get back to the sleep routine he had prior to the trip? (longing to take my 18 month to see family in Taiwan, but nervous about the time difference and long flight) Thanks for the tips!
Awesome tips! I was wondering if you gave Nikash cow's milk in Korea. I'm about to travel to Asia with my 13 month old and she just transitioned to only cow's milk but I'm not sure how she'll take the milk there since I know it tastes slightly different. Also did you pack diapers for the whole trip or did you purchase them there? Thanks!
Hey susan..i just love your videos..keep going..
Wanted to know the kids apps from where you can play rhymes offline as well.
Secondly, which seat is best in economy when travelling wd a 15th month old boy.(fyi> he has crossed the bassinet size.)
Must Have!!!
THIS LOOKS MORE LIKE A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FOR PRODUCTS THAN A VLOG
🙈 I’m not going anywhere soon, I just watched because I love you and I love your video content. But I will remember the tips when I eventually go somewhere with a toddler.
Hi Susan, thanks for this helpful vid--we are traveling to Italy soon with our 14 month old--would you recommend the headphones for a little guy that age? Do you think they'd fit ok?
If you get the headphones, I would get them before the trip and make sure you put them on him and show him what they do. Otherwise they pull them off!
Loved these tips. A lot of your product links don't work :( can you update them please? Like the phone case and travel high chair
Loved your video! We're taking a 2 week trip from NC to Barcelona for 2 weeks with our 11months old SLEEP TRAINED daughter at the end of November. We are very excited however I've read horrible things about baby jetlag. My husband and I have been traveling to Europe for years but this will be her 1st airplane trip and timezone change 😫. Any tips, tricks and suggestions are greatly.
appreciated (we are taking the redeye flight there).
I did this with my 11 month old, but we went from Switzerland to Miami. We took off at 1 pm so this is different, but she was still good. I find this was better because when we landed in Miami it was time for my daughter to go to bed. She really didn't sleep on the flight, because there was a 5 yr old and a 2 year old trying to out scream each other. Since she didn't sleep she was hard to deal with at border control, getting our bags, finding our car, and getting to the hotel, but once we got to the hotel and set up she fell asleep right away, and she only woke up 1 time because she was scared. She woke up at her normal time the next day, and napped at her normal times.
Coming back to Switzerland it wasn't as easy, but it was doable. I used this article to get through.
www.bebevoyage.com/three-day-guide-surviving-baby-jet-lag/
So if you cold go back would you use the wheeled luggage bag in stad of the tote bag??? I'm wondering about that!
Hello I am traveling on 14 hours of flight but I am no sure weather to carry stroller with me or not, although I am carrying carry on .
hi, I wonder which brand do you use for the stroller in the video?
I fly with my 3 kids. a teen Twin im for years not worried about them 😅 a few Months ago i flew with my 4 Months baby and in Business class (oman Air and they have basinet). Thank god she was the sweetest. Now we will fly with the baby again but she will be around 1 year. But Qatar airways dont offer Basinet in Business class and i cant buy any basinet because you can only use it in economy. Im a mom who takes everything with me. My sister in law ordered food for her toddler but KLM forgot the food. She didnt had food with her.. The crew gave on a 9 hour flight only icecream and chocolate. So yes even if you have ordered food for the baby/toddler always take it with you 😄😄😄
Can u link the carry on bags u had?
I have a question about the snacks. You packed them just like that? In ziplock bags? I thought we werent allowed any food past the security gate?
Hi Susan! May I know if you brought a carseat with you for your son? Do they require it in Korea?
If you had used a roller bag instead of a tote, what type roller bag would you use?
Love the tips. Was this Nikash's first international flight?
He flew with us to Cabo once when he was an infant, but this was his first overseas flight (though we took him to Hawaii too).
