Years ago my brother told me to listen to this song when I went on my first big trip to Africa. I put it on my MP3 player and listened to it constantly, when feeling sad, lonely or scared. Now that my brother passed away the song got a new meaning for me. Instead of offering comfort, it offers a painful truth. Life goes on, even if you don't feel like it.

I was looking for this song years ago, but could not find it since I only remembered some of the melody vaguely, and then I even forgot that. Last night when I was cleaning my house the CZcams algorithm blessed me with this song while listing to wathever. I replayed it 50 times since.

Holy shit. I almost went crazy searching for this song. I heard it in a TV show but the people were talking in this scene so I wasn't able to hear the lyrics. I heard the song and remebered that I used to love it but I didn't remember the name. I finally am here because after a thousand repeats I was able to understand the lyrocs and google it. I am searching since 11 pm, now it is 2 am. I can go to bed now...

When my sister left for university in 2011, I felt abandoned in our conservative hometown homeschooling with our strict parents, but she left me with a drive full of music and films she felt I was finally old enough to watch and understand. Noah and the Whale's songs let me know she didn't leave me and that my time would come too.

Still a classic song after all these years
Named my 10 year old boxer dog Noah after this band. He died last Sunday from cancer. Noah had a lot of heart and spirit and lived every day of his life like it was his last day right up to his very last day xxx

i dont even know how i found this band anymore, i think this was the first song - then five years, then i bought all four albums and savoured each of them. i listen to them all every month, i make a point to do so.
but the point isnt how i found them, the point is that i did find them, or maybe they found me. i know they're no longer a band, but their music will remain forever and life does go on, and its bittersweet. but my god, i am so thankful for this song. this band. this music and my life right now in this moment.

This song reminds me of two other songs... 'Lola' by The Kinks and 'Dont Come Around Here No More' by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. It has kind of a Tom Petty feel to it...very likeable. Thumbs up!

Perfect song, most people don't realise how lucky they are and forget that they already have the things that mean the most in the world.. family and friends. My parents died in a car crash when i was 8 and only me and my sister in the back survived.. you'd kinda think i'd be depressed eh but at 19 im going to university, driving and loving life in general at the moment as i'm happy with what i have! :)

Before Noah and the whale i thought the music industry was going on a down hill completely, but this band gave me hope, There music is what music should sound like, it's unique, original, gives hope, brings across good messages, and they can sing, very well! Just like what music used to be. The fact that they dress in those cool blazers and suits just makes me smile, bringing back real music, and bringing back the formal fashion sense, Amazing.
What hill? Music scene was pretty much dead by the 90s. It's been worse every year. You can't expect one palatable act to change anything amongst the plague of absolute crap that was killed the world. That's like expecting one ant to fill in a canyon a 100x miles wide in just a week!

This year has been more downs then ups and so many times I've felt awful but, I'm still here and while I've lost more than I've gained, I appreciate what I have because otherwise I'd be so lost and maybe wouldn't of survived this year. I remember hearing a little boy on the radio calling into the radio station to ask them to play this song in Perth, WA. I was sitting in the car listening with my mum. A random memory really. But now here we are in a flash, 12 bloody years later because lifegoeson and that little boy who asked for this song to play that my mum and I just by chance happened to be listening to on the radio is probably an adult out there somewhere in the world and created a core memory in me.

This song hits me hard... I was driving to a gig when I took a call that my grandmother had fallen seriously ill, and likely wouldn't make it through the night.
Devastated, I set up for the gig, (which was a wedding for a friend) and put on a 3 hour playlist for the guests to arrive to, as I set off on the hour and a half round trip to where she had been taken ill. Having had only a few moments to talk with her and saying goodbye, I had to head back to the gig and put on a smile, for someone's happiest day of their life, meanwhile, my 99 year old grandmother was having her final moments.
For the last song of the evening, the bride and groom requested this very track, and how fitting it was. Being a friend of the groom, I was invited to the dancefloor where the remainder of the party joined hands with us in a circle, and sung the wonderful lyrics of this song at the top of our voices. There was something so surreal about the whole thing, about how true the words are, about the 'Last night on earth'. I almost felt like the song was written for her.
Sadly, nanna became unresponsive later that evening, and passed away less than 48 hours later.... All I could think to get me through it was L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N....
