The Germanic idea of forest is something like a dark, gloom and scary place with almost no sunlight going through. Dead bodies exist. Watch Lord of The Rings. Dark Elves, giant living trees, witches, dark ghosts and monsters exist there.
Whereas the Celtic idea of forest is something like a green forest with green light all over, full of life, green energy spheres, bowmen, elves, pink mushrooms and pink weird-looking alien plants, fairies and swamps. And one guy with a flute exists there.
Now I feel so high. Damn.
The germanic and celtic idea of forest is a living thing indeed. Full of life and spirit. This is a totally diferent idea from the nowadays image of a resource just to make money

If you have walked in a forest in Germany, and one in Ireland, there is a dfiference (climate, tree species) irish forests may be more open and lighter. Germanic pine forests are dark even at noon, you cannot clearly see where the Sun is even if the sky is clear, so you lose all sense of direction. Must have panicked those Roman soldiers in Teutoberg Forest, no wonder Arminius (Herman) routed them and the Romans gave up all ideas of extending the Empire over towards Poland.
Probably 'Latin/Roman' societies? Although the pre-Victorian societies did fear/hate/despise nature, to the point where they drew shut the coach curtains when passing what we regard as 'scenic' areas -like the Alps !! We always miss what we have lost, hence the industrialised Victorians did begin to like 'nature' again. The 'Abrahamic' i.e. Judeo-Christian tradition has some respect for nature, many laws in the Old Testament condemn areas of cruelty to animals and even promote tree preservation (the Jews were commanded, if they conquered a city, not to cut down its trees, in contrast to say the Babylonians who razed everything, even trees, as if they were 'enemies'. And surely Jesus would have supported conservation?
As for forests, all I can say is I once walked from Maastricht over into Aachen, through a forest, in the 1990s, and it was indeed dark and you couldn't see even where the Sun was so you lost all sense of direction. Same with a forest I saw near Wiesbaden. Irish indigenous forests tend to be more mixed than coniferous, so are lighter - and in prehistoric days, Britain wasn't apparently totally densely forested in contrast to Germania, Britain had patchy woodlands and open moorland areas then. That was what the Romans feared - dense trackless forests where their fighting tactics, of large battalions, failed against Germanic ambushers.
What I love about forest is... just this. If you ever walked on a path, on your right side a dark, deep pine forest, moss covering the ground, and in your left is light, birch trees, fern and large gaps between the forests - you realize, that both versions can coexist. And I love both of them.

im celtic myself and these kinds of music reminds me of running through a forest. The green of the leaves and grass. This music really gives you a calm and almost peaceful feeling
I agree with you. I will, however, never forget the time when I managed to pet a fawn in the middle of the forest. :D Such a gentle creature, so fearful, had to be real slow, ever so gentle. :)

This song makes me feel like I'm a young child lost in a wood full of fantasies, feeling and touching everything and learning, and yet still being entertained by how beautiful and fascinating it is, and then joining a group of folk people in the wood playing this song as animals and hidden people all start dancing and joining together as one :) Adrian's wonderful music definitely takes me to a place that probably many people wish would come true :)

Call me strange, but this in my opinion describes the feeling of a forest with astounding accuracy. I've been through forests, waded through streams, climbed old as hell trees, and learned how to listen to the forest. There's a sense of control yet its wild, plants will take over empty or forgotten spots in a flash yet will remain balanced with each other and the animal life. Portraying life in the heart of a forest is not something man can do easily, and this has it down.

Those who have experienced the breath of the forest will understand the existence of complete other worlds and realms of consciousness. The loss of so many forests created a hugh decline in abnormality, unsanity, magic and so on. Man is practical and powerful. Yet man lacks the knowledge to understand the other world.

Growing up the forest was my sanctuary it was full of life and adventure and it spoke to me in ways i cant explain
