      I do but not totally, Ian spoilt him as he was the youngest child of the siblings made him think he gets all that he wants & his way.
      Everyone gets annoyed or angry at different levels.
      Everyone deals with it differently, weather it's a temper or just angry, it doesn't mean you take something & hit someone.
      When he hit Lucy they should have been honest with him because he hit her seriously hard & it killed her.
      They should have explained that just because your annoyed, or angry or lost your temper.
      It doesn't give you the right to hit someone or pick up an object and hit someone.
      They lied to Bobby, I understand they where protecting him but at the same time they covered it all up & how can Bobby learn what is right & wrong & how serious things can get when you hit someone.
      They didn't teach him this even after he pushed Cindy to the floor, so he did it again to Jane.
      I know Ian is hurting & finding things very difficult but Ian created Bobby to be this way, & didn't get him help when things got serious.
      The sign was there when he killed Lucy I know he didn't mean to, but it showed that he had a temper problem.

      Yeah, but can he do this against a proper tough guy? When Phil or Ben or Martin get angry, he cries like a wimp, and acts like a clown, he's good doing it, and losing it, against someone weaker than him, but the real challenge, is to do this, and go full steam, against someone who is bigger, and physically stronger than him.

      @@pauljohnson6019 thats a completely different dynamic. were talking about a guy whos son killed his daughter. Here beale is so pent up with anger and is unleashing it. He doesnt truly want to hurt his son though hence the bursts of punching and poking. I think he then throws him out partly because hes worried what he might do to him now his anger is no longer pent up. He wants him out of his sight so he doesnt have to think about his daughter and how his son killed her. Thats my take on the scene any way.

    Ian's been the laughing stock of the show recently. I liked this scene, it was nice to finally see him to stand up for himself. The way how his face changes from passive to sheer fury is brilliant on Adam Woodyatt's part. Much more compelling than the infamous "I GOT NOTHING LEFT". I'm really glad Ian, one of the few characters left from the very start nearly 35 years ago now, is proving himself to be more than just a figure of fun again.

    • @pauljohnson6019
      @pauljohnson6019 Před 4 lety +20

      He finally proved himself, but against who? A gentle 16 year old, who is trying to be a good Muslim, and is tame, and hates fighting, only recently, he got whacked by Keegan, a few years older than Bobby, and was pathetically moaning, and acting like he was dying, where was his fury and fighting spirit then?

    • @finb
      @finb Před 4 lety +9

      @@pauljohnson6019 That's what I'm saying. He hasn't had that fighting spirit in recent times. As for proving himself against Bobby, it doesn't matter if he's 16, Ian still has to live with the fact that Bobby killed his only daughter. In fact, with Bobby being so young, it probably makes it even harder for Ian to accept.

    I can’t help but feel bad for Bobby. Yes, he killed his sister, which is beyond unforgivable (and certainly not the sort of thing that people forget), but he’s just a boy. He’s more than paid for it. Look at the dozens of things that others on EastEnders have done, mostly adults, as well as grown teenagers, and yet they all have the front and cheek to judge Bobby (who is just a kid)! They need to all think about the mistakes that they’ve made before continuing to judge Bobby for what he’s done. Just give him a chance, he’s not a bad person. Just learn how to forgive and forget (like Max has done with him). He’s suffered enough.

    I had Ian Beale down for many things, but a casual bigot definitely wasn't one of them. If Ian can forgive his brother for unintentionally killing someone then why can't he do the same for Bobby?
    He is a failed father who failed all his kids:
    - He assaulted Cindy and threw her out on the street just for wearing Lucy's top (this was shortly after Lucy had died).
    - He has disowned Steven, Lucy, Peter, and now Bobby.
    - I remember him saying some vile stuff to Steven and now Bobby.
    - He had thrown out Steven (in 2008 and 2016), Peter (in 2014), and now Bobby.
    Kathy should've also slapped Ian. If I was Kathy I'd announce that Ian is no son of mine!

    • @firstname1154
      @firstname1154 Před 4 lety +7

      You didn't see the episode, Dennis googled Islamic extremism on Bobby's laptop to frame him for going on terrorist websites, Ian then saw that and they had the police round for a chat, if you see that after someone has killed your daughter of course you're going to think he's a psycho, I can't blame Ian honestly, it isn't bigotry to disown a murderer who you believe is trying to join a terrorist group and then they start saying you're the bad one. Most people would do the same

      I think people are being far too harsh on Ian. Yes he’s FAR from a perfect father and has failed a lot but his children aren’t exactly warm hearted angels...are people forgetting that Steven shot his wife Jane which resulted in her being unable to ever have children and after that he tried to trap Lauren from leaving him by getting her pregnant but all the while shagging her sister and getting her pregnant and THEN pretending to have a brain tumour!! Seriously! How sick and evil could you get?! Lucy was very bitchy and made lots of mistakes but what was sad was the night Bobby killed her she was writing a letter to Ian telling her how sorry she was that she wanted to make everything better and to tell him to wake her up in morning so they could have a nice father daughter chat and sadly Ian never got that chance. He chose to still care and protect bobby which is ultimately what pushed his son Peter away because he couldn’t handle that his little brother killed his (Peter) twin sister and that Ian and Jane weren’t going to do anything about it. Whilst him throwing Cindy out for wearing Lucy’s top was very harsh he was a grieving father and Cindy wasn’t showing any respect for the fact that Lucy had just died and it might have looked like Cindy was trying to take Lucy’s place. And Bobby....yes he was a child and he didn’t mean to kill Lucy but really...to whack her over the head with a heavy hard music box!!!?? That’s not right, but that wasn’t his only offence, he also pushed Jane down the stairs and paralysed her from the waist down after everything she did to protect him. Don’t get me wrong Ian does act like such a toe rag sometimes but this must be so difficult for him, to still love and accept your child who killed your other child and for Bobby to act all high and mighty and forgetting that Ian might have been trying to forgiven him but he has by no means forgotten what he did was a step too far.
