@@KBThaBandhead so, There was a BOTB and southern was about to take the field. Jackson played power interrupting the start of the field show. So, southern at that point wanted blood. Su gave them ever bit of the smoke they wanted.

@KBThaBandhead I hope you read this and take it for what itâs worth. Me being from Jackson Mississippi, first and foremost. Live 5 minutes from JSU Campus all my life, Marched in the band (high school) played quads. The Boom being my number 1 love and SU being my 2nd love Iâve always gave true to heart opinions about this infamous love/hate rivalry. And by you being in the band yourself you probably can relate to what Iâm about to say. What sets SU apart from all other bands is they donât classify their band students, meaning JSU still uses the old traditional way of classifying their students 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th chair. So if JSU marching 40-50 trumpets, only 10 at the most play above the staff. Whereas SU March 40 trumpets all of them play 1st chair. Thatâs why you get a more balanced sound from JSU than just pure power like SU. And that goes for every section. This particular year though, 2010 Dr. Murray wanted to prove that if need be JSU can match the power of SUâs trumpets which he showed. Now in ending since I first started marching in the band in high school 2001 up until now the score between SU and JSU would be in my opinion SU-13 JSU-7.
Sheeesh BOOM đ„!!!!!! JSU!! This was a good battle. Itâs always entertaining with these 2-bands. JSU arrangements/book is đ„đ„đ„đ„.

Jackson upper brass section was deep.. This battle is always fun to watch, the other zero quarter I think is fire between these two was the rain delay game.. they played for over an hour straight wit' banger after banger.. I think lightning in the area caused them to stop otherwise they would have been there all day.. Both of their catalogs are too notch every year

As pertaining to the video, the energy in the city itself was out of this world. You knew once State blew "Power" on SU 3 months prior at our annual BOTB, you knew it was going to be a blood bath. Southern wanted revenge but State was more than ready for retaliation. The stadium was packed from top to bottom and you knew it was going to be a long but special day. After the Boom played Love the Way You Lie back, we knew it was over for Southern. Su still was blowing but they weren't expecting the beast that was awaiting them in Memorial that day. This game was and is the reason I went to the Boom and the university when Fall 11' came around. #Mydearoldcollegehome

Southern is the best by far, because they're the most consistent and songs they played 20 or 30 years ago will still blow you out.
