This is what I love about us 70-ish, seniors. Old school realism where we are comfortable in our space. You gotta love getting this far in life to enjoy it.
I have a CRUSH on this gentleman. I am 67 and appreciate a self-confident man that is kind, calm, and has a great sense of humor. Your future will be bright and the world will be your oyster because of your attitude about life.

The problem that I see as an older American who is in her 70's is that no one pays too much attention to the elderly who happen to travel in vans. Though there are a few who have medical problems, it is nice to see one of the elderly coming out and talking about their own ideas on overlanding. I'd like to see more videos on the elderly set and their vans; not just the young 20-40 ish professionals who happen to be videographers, or are hand some and beautiful. I'd like to see our own reality...

I was very fortunate, actually blessed to meet a man like John in Australia. Absolute gem. He taught me and lived with me through building our van, redoing it to suit our needs and camping through Australia. Plus he pretends that I contributed more than my share. 🤣

I love all the fan sounds, I can imagine sleeping in this van with a cool nighttime breeze and the fans going. What a great van build and it's nice to see someone his age out there on the road.
After doing the same thing for a while my only concern is the outdoor shower. If a person takes a shower on grass it's fine, on dirt, not so much. Water and dirt give you mud. I had the exact same hot water on demand heater but with a 25 gallon water tank and set it up for an outdoor shower but with a shower tent. (also called a changing tent) Lots of places to buy a shower tent, they are available on Amazon and many stores that sell camping supplies. They roll up into a nice tidy package (once you let them dry out) and using a roll up mat to step on once you're done keep your feet clean until you get your sandals on.
Ah...we’re not old..we bring experience to all our adventures. I love what he’s doing. I leave tomorrow myself for Albuquerque and won’t be back in Ohio until it’s cold out west.
What a great “alternative life” when you want it, you have created for yourself. Love the van set-up. Agree with you, a indoor shower in a smaller van is not the best use of space. Showering outside is so enjoyable that I had an outdoor shower built in my backyard & use it so much in warmer months. Enjoy your journey!
And there's also sponge bathing (collapsible wash basket to stand in) and washing one's hair in the sink (really easy if you have short hair). The visual space of an indoor shower would make me claustrophobic.
I’m 58 and travel about 3-4 weeks a year in my van. The ridge is my favorite part. Well spoken Gentleman. Love your confidence and enthusiasm. Favorite part seeing his pride when speaking of his granddaughter and daughter. Mini mouse makes a great travel companion.
I really like the roof vent/skylight (in addition to the MaxFan). 'Haven't seen one like it before. I also like the cedar-paneled ceiling with white wall panels. 'All nice and bright and cheerful. And your refrigerator/freezer and stove/oven are much better than the typical units for vans. The antenna-lift, composting toilet, etc., etc. - all well thought-out. Waking up each morning in the middle of nature is fantastic. Enjoy your travels across Nomadland!

I too just began travelling in my class B, RV. I just turned 70 and travelled 18,000 km across Ontario, thru Gaspe Quebec and all the eastern provinces all the way to the most eastern coast of Newfoundland. I can hardly wait to see this winter end and begin travelling thru Northern Ontario, all the western provinces and ending up on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Its great to see another 70ish with the travelling itch.
I just can't get pass the T-SHIRTS hanging on the line, blowing in the wind, it's beautiful to me.....I appreciate you sharing this video. I'm inspired👍🏽

I am only car camping in my ford escape. This will be my second season of a week each camp. Last year i brought practically every thing i owned. so this year I am already downsizing. Lesson learned.

What a precious fellow! I caught the camping bug from watching CZcams videos too! I'm 66 and just getting started camping a little at a time...better late than never! I have a tiny Runaway camper (basically a bed in a box with air conditioning), and I tow it with my Honda CRV. I still have trouble getting it hitched up to my car by myself but I'm getting there. I'm learning how to back it up but it sometimes takes me a while, lol! I'm always encouraged to hear of people in my age group giving this lifestyle a try. Enjoy camping in your wonderful van!

Check out putting a shower pan under your floor with a cover, shower curtain on rod gets lifted to ceiling and you use your kitchen faucet extension hose for water. Use it at night, in morning drop it into pan, drop lid and go your merry way. I’m a retired CRNA hoping to buy a Promaster in the near future. Good luck
I once rented a room to a traveling nurse. More of them should get an awesome build van and travel that way. Then you're literally sleeping in YOUR bed every night. I can't handle hotel/motels.

My pleasure. I completed this van...not all my doing. Added paint, fridge, roof deck, shower, Weeboost, awning etc.
