- Due to popular demand, I'm going to be doing a mini series of sorts where i'll be going through the little things about Lucario's toolkit which I had originally cut from the main guide I made earlier this year!
Sections:
00:00 Start
01:32 Bonking
03:14 Vacuuming
04:40 Outro
I'm not fully sure how many of these types of videos I will be making on Lucario, it truly depends on how much there is to discover about him still! There are still a few things that I can cover so currently there there will be atleast a few more videos on their way still! I'm hoping to be able to make these on roughly a monthly basis.
LINK TO THE MAIN GUIDE: • Comprehensive Lucario ...
The Lucario cord has some more detailed information on what i've mentioned here, so please check it out if you're looking for even more depth: / discord

I just wanted to quickly type in here to say thanks for helping me reach 100 subscribers! I'm now able to fully change my channel url to Jovinus instead of my old name that I had when I was a teen haha. It really means alot to me!
I love the name bonking.
I’ve played Lucario since launch and had no idea Vacuuming was a thing!
It's definitely handy if you can get it down! But it's something that should be focused on once you're able to recovery with no issues haha
@@JovinusSSB I’ve already used it to punish a little mac that stood too close to ledge. I almost felt bad because you could tell he was not ready to get sent that way.
Even tho i already knew this it was still pretty helpful and easy to understand, keep it up man!
I'm glad it was! Anything little like this will help anyone out hopefully
Yeh same here
I had no idea "vacuuming" was a thing. Love this video and the previous one - there was a huge absence of Lucario tutorials prior. Looking forward to the next video!
Thank you for the positivity! I can't say for sure when the next one will be. I don't keep to a steady schedule and the videos are finished whenever they happen to be, but I don't plan on stopping :)
Very cool video thank you I never knew about the vacuum
Great channel, I just got back into this game and want to main Lucario. You're the only one talking about him and I've killed myself way too many times with Extreme Speed haha
It does get easier over time, it's just practice to avoid sding with his recovery haha!
And yeah, there aren't many people who have modern videos on him these days. If you're looking for more feel free to check out the main guide and some of the other vids that i've made, either way I hope it helps you :)
What....vacuuming.......AMAZING!
Thank you
I love your content keep it up. I hope your channel grows you deserve it.
We shall see! I don't upload too frequently mostly due to time, but I'll try!
@@JovinusSSB it’s fine if you don’t upload frequently because when u do the video will be good.
Great video and great editing.
May have missed lucario being able to wall cling off extreme speed. (And the only character to wall cling after up b too)
But other than that one sentence thing. The video editing was beyond my expectations for a simple smash guide so good job
@@MagnificentCreature I could have mentioned this, but I think I showed this in the previous video haha, and thanks once again for watching!
@@JovinusSSB Oh right, I might have forgot, in that case this video covers the bases for ES, so great!
Greninja can do this too actually.
I was hoping to get a guide on how to actually control where lucario gets sent with the different angles that you can press after the initial direction because I haven’t seen anyone discuss why extreme speed curves the way it does. However, this information was useful.
Unfortunately that's just about the only thing I didn't cover here or in the main guide haha. I know that alot of player's struggle with the angles of his recovery but for me personally it's second nature. I wish I was able to help out more here :(
From what I can tell, if you return the stick to a neutral or up position after inputting an angle for the up b, it stores the angle you had. The up b sends you in that stored direction, and if you angle the stick again it treats the stored angle as the default, effectively stacking the angles.
From my experience (as this messes up my recovery quite often as well) extreme speed controls as if "steering" a car.
If the starting angle is right, then pressing up will continously turn Lucario counter-clockwise. Pressing down is the opposite, so clockwise. Its all relative to that initial angle so adjust accordingly.
I describe the method in detail here, under the overview for extremespeed:
smashboards.com/threads/aura-gym-the-ultimate-players-guide-to-lucario-w-i-p.466160/post-22855730
Some of the exact frame data for some moves is out of date, but the information on extremespeed is still accurate.
Hey something else you could do is a neutral guide with lucario. You could talk about what you should be looking for, what moves are best to use in different situations, what you should be thinking in neutral, and how that might change with more aura. I think that could be very useful.
I've already covered very similar topics to that in my main lucario guide if you haven't checked that out already :)
But I do have plans to cover more when I have the time/motivation to do it!
Pog
There'll be many more pogs to be had :P
Good video.
I can add a tip : You can "Vacuuming" with the Bonk on stage too.
For sure! I personally don't like using it that way since it can be punished pretty easily, but if the other player is sleeping then you can take a cheeky stock with it
Great video, thanks! I sure hate how Extreme Speed is controlled in Ultimate, I always hope a patch reverts it to the previous style.
I don't remember how it was in smash 4 really! I never played much lucario back then but from what I heard it controlled better haha
The music is a bit loud but the video is interesting ! Great work !
I'm sorry that was the case! It seemed fine during editing for me but I'll try and keep the levels down a bit more on the future :)
Are my player lucario favorite!
Reality: it's very easy to sucide with this move à cause du mechanism. When players try to do complicated trajectories (as "vacuming" for exemple) 4:26 .
1:Mechanism:(tu peux expliquer differamment if you like) Lucario is like a rocket with 2 impulsors (his hands): 1rst you chose your direction handling your stick & after depending the direction of the first move you can put a ~5°-135°left to go left (the angle it doesnt matter you always turn the same way) or ~5-135° right to go right, you CANT hold your stick back (180°) because lucario doesnt take any direction even if you already turned a little bit. Its not as complicated as it seems trust me xD
2: when you choose your 1rst direction on the up B, use the C-stick to change 45° of the trajectory of lucario (it helps a lot)
3 you can use C-stick to influence last hit of up B
4 (the bonk): the more aura you have, more high is the "bonk", you can bonk directement to the stage without grabbing the ledge
5 (as teleporting) lucario doesnt have 2 frames if he recovers from the top... (maybe know this can motivate some lucario players to not always try to hit opponents and be free punish when they recover from the top)
I hope every lucario player, devienne plus 💪🏼 fort et plus et plus sur deux mêmes pour que la communauté de celui-ci grandisse 🔥.
Hiya! There's certainly alot to unpack here but you're mostly going into the very specific details of how the move works which is always good! These would be the factors that I mentioned in the vid but I avoided mentioning alot of this since I don't want to scare people away from how nuanced his recovery can be haha
I never knew you could influence the vacuum with the c stick however, that's always good knowledge! I never use it myself but I know alot of lucario players who do prefer to control the recovery with the c stick instead. Thanks for watching regardless :)
Is it just me or are there too many visual effects in this game? I stopped playing this game a while ago and one reason was because there are so many spark and smoke effects that I lose track of my character. It really sucks that apparently it's just me. I cannot believe that got through the development team! Lucario's blue fire is cool though and it's actually one of the reasons I like playing him.
I remember thinking that it was very visual when I was watching the early footage of the game before it came out, but after playing it competitively I've noticed that it doesn't really bother me, I don't really notice it at all! It might be just be an issue with you sadly :(
Hopefully it gets better for you with time at the very least
@@JovinusSSB yeah my eyes are actually kinda of messed up so I didn't think I would be able to make a fuss out of it.
I was hoping a bunch of people on Twitter would but I guess not, damn.
Smash is definitely tying to copy the anime aesthetic.
