I was feeling bad for Folger until he almost had infinite mana
Always assume a Hermit Druid deck is about to pop off at all times regardless of board state.
As somebody who has played a Hermit Druid deck, you will tend to be hated out of the game at all times, regardless of if you're feeling like you're developed or not.
It's a good surprise in one-off random match ups online on Spelltable, but in an LGS settings, 'your reputation will precede you'.
He took a one land hand. He though he could fall into green at some point to use his hermit druid. It was not a good play on open and I'm sure he knew that.
@@christopherfrawley2560 While it is true that he kept a 1-lander he did have a brainstorm in his opener which usually should guarantee you find your 2nd land at which point he would have just been able to go off
@@themage1115 yeah, I see where your going with that but he had to have known there was going to be some kind of interaction from the other players. I'm not saying he should have seen a blood moon coming or something equivalent but your safe bet is just more lands.
@@christopherfrawley2560 I'm with @TheMage on this one - it was a calculated risk and a good one. Mulling away a 6 card hand that includes Hermit Druid just for a second land would have been much riskier.
The classic Grand Arbiter vs the world strat. Classic.
I forgot how much I hate that guy
It's a classic classic
This is the best EDH channel. I can't pin point what makes these guys the best.. You make minimal gameplay mistakes, narration is on point, it is always well explained, animation are decent and the games are fun since they are lots of time on stack and the viewer doesn't need to keep up with each players huge board, rarely games are arch enemy. You got sense of humour, too. And there is probably more, subconscious elements.
PS: I always wondered, is one of the player narrating?
Ryan is the narrator
Thank you very much :)
@@RedneckMetalhead79 I thought so, since he was on Prof's podcast :)
This is a very good channel i agree totally. Went back and watched every other video lol.
174 cards milled. Now that is indeed a mill deck
Adam's cyclonic rift decided that game. If he left Elesh Norn alone, Zack would have won
I can't believe Adam failed all four flips on the lightning bolt, there is only a 1/16 chance (6.25%) of that happening!
Just some bullshit luck. Lol. You get used to it in a game that is pay to win basically. Sometimes even bad players or cards that shouldnt be good end up being really really powerful. Also wanna say if it werent for badluck than i wouldnt have any so theres that too lmao
i once flipped 36 coins for mirror red enchantment during draft and lost all of them.
sometimes obscene bad luck just happens, just like obscene good luck
@@kinkajuu1 facts lol it is what it is sometimes lol.
Sean Carhart dude What
Folger had some serious mana problems with that Magus and a 1 land open.
Morning Cedh with my coffee to start my day. Thanks for the video guys.đđœ
Kenrith, the Mana-Starved King
Iâm always impressed when that deck wins. Itâs surprisingly potent!
Never been this early, excited to see some spicy plays
Wow that was a damn good game y'all. Did not see the end of it coming that's for sure.
I love seeing the Krark/Sakashima deck đ
I thought this was a reupload, but this is a different video than last Augustin Mill :)
It's always nice to see a mill deck throw down. :O
Love you channel!!
The Tyman and Tana list is wrong...I'm getting to a Godo list
Great vid
Derp. Thanks. We will update it!
Updated! Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG You mean it wasn't intentional?!
godo brrrrrrrrrr
The Git Probe set up the tag team blow out on Elesh Norn and that was pretty cool.
those petitioner decks have an insane win rate on videos and seems very fun. I start to think about building it now.
The best part of waking up is Folger on my feed.
Rough day at the office for ol' krarky boii
I've watched this deck win twice now. I'm slotting in Ulamog.
I love REOs deck, great build!
I still love my sakashima/krark deck. I was hoping for it to win
Ok, that victory was sick. Great game ^^
This is why I like having a Kozilek or Ulamog in the library so I don't usually have to worry about a Mill strategy beating me.
I mean you still lose to yard exile against mill regardless
Awesome game!! :)
8:18 Combo kill with Sharpshooter, Magus is holding everyone back
Seeing grindstone as a thumbnail? This is going to be good
More please!
Zack fed the Petitioners the game if weâre being honest. lol
Wow, this was a good game!! I'm just now realizing that this was played remotely - what camera setup are you guys using? My friends and I would love to play this way!!
We use Zoom for our setup
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG What do you use for cameras? phones /webcams on a stack of books?
@@StormEcho We use Webcams for our setup. They are attached to either camera arms or desk mounts. Nothing fancy.
That foil vamp tutor đ
Dask/Dawn is not on the Gran Arbiter list! it changed after the game?
a MTG Jeopardy Video would actually get a lot of views!
I would probably choose Ellis Norn, because it will very quickly threaten a win without having combo potential.
As a resident Timmy and seeing somebody suffer that badly, my Karmic Guide is choosing Elesh Norn to be as big as possible, especially with a board presence like that.
Is there any chance weâll see a Koll the Forgemaster deck on the channel any time soon? Iâd love to see Boros combo off again :)
Havenât seen any lists that stand out at the current moment.
You guys should try out first sliver food chain, the deck went under a huge change recently
I have been playing Food Chain Sliver for a while now and will be trying the updated list tomorrow
Reo's mat! So few people got it lol, I thought the only one I'd ever see would be my own.
Do u know where i can buy same mat?
How did folger produce 2 mana for his swan song right before he died?
Sorry, what happened with the Dockside Extortionist at 10.00 ? Why would Folger be able to have infinite mana? And why couldn't he?
Sorry, lots of questions but I'm relatively new to the whole CEdH stuffđ đ
Dockside Extortionist is a 1/2, but with Elesh Norn on the battlefield giving it -2/-2, it becomes a -1/0. That means that it dies as a state-based action as soon as it hits the battlefield due to having zero toughness (but the ETB effect triggers anyway). With that board state, Dockside was creating 7 treasures on ETB (11 if the other treasures hadn't been sacrificed). If he had been allowed to create the 11 treasures even once, he could've sacrificed 5 to cast Kenrith, then 5 to activate Kenrith's last ability to bring back Dockside. Dockside would again die immediately (since it'd still be a -1/0 creature), but since it would create more than 5 treasures, it'd be possible to sacrifice 5 of them to repeat this all over, creating a loop and generating infinite treasures. Kenrith's other abilities allow using those treasures to win on the spot.
I would really like to hear why Adam kept that 7. Iâve been playing a lot of Krark/Sakashima and it seems like one of the worst keeps. No acceleration, no tutors, no card draw
What I'm missing from the second Elish Norn cast? Is there another -x/-x effect on the table? If no, then why all of the petitioners die if Elish Norn was cast in the second main after the damege clear step?
Damage is only cleared in the cleanup step when the turn ends
@@FPRobber oh so was it the damage they took from the saprolings that killed them ?
@@saienmoodley2104 Yes, at that point they are -1/1 creatures with 1 damage marked on them, so they are destroyed due to damage.
Wish other grand arbiter builds were showcased on this channel, other than this obviously suboptimal mill version
Mana crypt is a coin flip so with Kark's Thumb you should have been rolling two dice, it didn't matter in this game.
What happens to Gilded drake? Shouldnt it return to the battlefield under the control of ADAM?
That near miss on infinite mana tho. Lol
That GAAIV deck was hilarious, might just be what my brother is looking to build.
Awesome game!
I love Mesmeric Orb.
blazing volley in commander? is this a meta call or is the card specifically good in a spellslinger list like krark\sakashima?
Pyroclasm is definitely a strong card in cedh, so I can see a 1 mana version being useful as a specific meta call. It is definitely better in krark though, being able to get a couple copies makes it a 1 mana pyroclasm, and even if the first hit fails, its unlikely to cost more than three mana in total
There is a chance of being more than 1 to each creature according to the Krark's ability
It's specific for this deck because of all the copying making it stronger. Creatures are usually smaller in cEDH.
@@blinky101 In Krarkashima, you don't want your board wipes to hit your own creatures, as your main engine is a couple of 2/2s.
My friend told me last week my mill deck might be cedh viable. I wanted to see if it had been done. :) it is successful. I am going to tech lantutn of Insight and Zur's Weirding for that added layer of information and manipulation
Paused the video, Iâd guess deal with E-Norn and hope someone else has a response for the cheaper creature combo piece.
Why didnât the Partitioners have summoning sickness at 13:22? A few times after as well
Because he tapped 4 of them to petitioners ability which just says tap 4 untapped petitioners
@@sethdayton8076 not that last final one to win the game.
It was after his upkeep - they were around since the last turn??
@@MTG_Ronin Abilities that don't have the actual tap symbol in them aren't affected by summoning sickness. So in this case, you wouldn't be able to active the first ability (that costs 1, T), but the second ability doesn't use the T symbol, so you can still use it on the first turn.
@@Lasersharp tracking all that. Go back and watch it again. At 12:26 he activates 2 of them, on the end step while 1 was still sick. The one I was mistaken about is because GA is an advisor.
13:18
Hold on, how did that happen? Arent Petitioners 1/3s?
They all had 1 damage marked on them due to blocking the saprolings right beforehand.
Please include more competitive decks
Please ask reo where he got his playmat from, it's amazing
Hey this is Reo. The playmat was a limited time Seb McKinnon Kickstarter where he collabed with Sheya for his movie.
@@Rekecko14 aw man, that's probably one of the best playmats I've seen other than the narset one
Doesnt Karkâs thumb plus mana crypt make you flip 2 coins? I feel like they missed that
It does make you flip 2 coins. He didn't miss it. He missed all 4 flips.
Yâall have a discord league going right now that people can sign up to play in?
We discontinued that in December of last year. We are looking to setup Virtual FNMs on our server here in the next month or so.
The Tymna/Tana link sends me to a Godo list
We've updated the list. Refresh the page and it should have the correct link.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG thanksđ
That was a pretty awesome game. 174 card milled đ
I need Reo's playmat.
Where can I buy!?!??
Hey this is Reo. Sadly the playmat can't be bought anymore. The playmat was a limited time Seb McKinnon Kickstarter where he collabed with Sheya for his movie.
@@Rekecko14 feels SUPREMELY bad lol thank you for letting me know!
Time to get a ticket to pound town in the ebay market place
How did the persistent petitioners survive the Blazing Volley @ 4:52
It should of died with the dorks right?
Petitioners has 3 toughness
(Facepalm) riiiight....
The cyclonic rift hitting the elish norn was straight up king making
Maybe, but Adam knew he stood little to no chance alone with Elesh Norn disabling both of his commanders.
Lmao Wut. That was crazy
Mill tier 0 in cEDH confirmed! Get your Persistent Petitioners while you still can!
They're relatively cheap right now. I know back in the day they jumped to around $5 a piece
A persistent petitioners deck won on a cEDH channel. Maybe if the other 3 players weren't playing beat down on each other and Folger and instead took care of the threats on Reo's board there would be a different outcome.
Anyone knows reo playmat?
Hey this is Reo. The playmat was a limited time Seb McKinnon Kickstarter where he collabed with Sheya for his movie.
Two krarks one thumb
it felt like there was a real hateboner for Folger while he couldnt do anything, meanwhile the mill deck just sat silently doing its primary goal
Wow, adam kept a really bad hand.
Norn any day combo kill only win you can do it in one turn
from what card is the art of the thumbail?
Millstone from Core Set 2019.
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG thank you
I have been googling the whole, Elesh Norn Vs ETB's thing, and everything i'm finding says that the ETB will still trigger and resolve.
One of the bits i found: magicjudge.tumblr.com/post/128616524647/if-my-opponent-has-elesh-norn-and-i-play-something
Yes, the ETBs still happen, but the creature also immediately dies, so with Kenrith's reanimation Folger could have made infinite treasures and mana
That's what happens and what they say happens in the video, yeah.
@@shawndiaz7528 maybe i missed something. my mind processed it as "no treasures were made because of Elesh Norn"
@@killroy458 Folger still made treasure, just not enough to cast Kenrith and activate him the same turn.
Elish norn!
I'd pick Elesh Norn
I watched this game again because itâs one of my favorites. You know your deck is good when someone has to use an Assassinâs Trophy to take out a...Mesmeric Orb
You'd think after the first time milling seven Zack would've been hard targeting the mill deck
there used to be a douche on mtgo called ssdu or ssdu79. He only played grand arbiter with boardwipes and NO Wincon. His strategy was to just bore us all to conceding.
#justiceforfolger ...wait is that infinite? almost? gg folger
Someone played thassa oracle and didn't just win?
What?
To be fair, it's not only a win con if you mill yourself out but also very good card advantage.
EoT brainstorm is so bad, especially if he's digging for that second land.
I think it was more for the mill play, draw three put back two mill 1
This sucks soooooooo much , I canât stress that enough
Poor Folger. mana and color screwed.
Reo reminds me of why i hate Augustin so much.
Great video, loved the jank
At 6:26 Zac pays for smothering tithes by tapping a land that should have damaged him but he didnât lose life. Was that missed or am I wrong
Magus of the Moon made it a mountain so no damage was taken.
Magus of the Moon was there at the time, so the land became a Mountain.
Yea that makes sense đ
As a main Siskel and Ebert player (krark/sakashima), I honestly would NOT have kept that hand. What was adam's reasoning for keeping it?
Also, something you missed, but had no impact on the game: krark's thumb also works with mana crypt :D
Ffffff thisssss dudeeeeeeee
is it just me or do they ALWAYS have insanely good and lucky starting hands?
When the card quality is so high in your deck, this is what happens. We also mulligan more aggressively.
Who would have known all these stax and taxes would slow a normally explosive game into a crawl to the finish? White isn't the color of removal, but it IS the color of balancing the playing field. The equalizer. Rather than give white card draw and ramp, make it the only color with exile manipulation.
Hey everybody, pay 1200 dollars and you can play commander 12 times a year
Always fun to see Reo's deck go off, such a neat cEDH strategy!
Can't wait for the day Adam and everyone else stop playing Krark/Sakashima. The deck is boring to watch and equally boring to play against. Always take 10+ minute long turns where nothing actually ends up happening.
Agreed, Krark Clone was neat for a short while but it's now boring
I have no sympathy for folger. Blood moon is the natural enemy of Hermit Druid lists, and the Hermit is never being used to do anything fair
Magic .... isnât .... fair ..... ?? This is the point of a 4 player pod right? 4 times the chances of seeing - magical outcomes!
Yooooo first!
Imagine paying 100 to play one game of magic lol
zacks a real ass for killing folger lol.. folgers actual first turn of playing while the others are just going off... makes no sense
Kenrith could reanimate D.E. and probably win him the game
@@PhoenixRNH I forget about the cedh aspect of it. Playing to win, I like to play to win but at the same time if a player is struggling like folger was I wouldnt be targeting someone who isnt doing anything
Reoooooooo sucksssssss
Screw mill. I get is cEDH so anything goes but I refuse to play against mill
I really wanted to see Krark shenanigans
