- The best boxer in the whole of MMA, Ilia Topuria. He’ll rip the head off anyone in the entire featherweight division, and most of Lightweight.
Shame he’s gonna retire early otherwise he’d have an incredible amount of title defences
What makes his boxing so dangerous is he can really concentrate and go out there and swing because he knows his wrestling is strong. Most guys who are elite at striking are afraid of takedowns. Ilia can do it all.
Nahh most strikers that have no Takedown defense are so dumb. They always gets taken down the most easiest way

The way he put his left out in the scramble to get a sense of where Volks chin was and then just slam full force with the right was such a thing of beauty.
Itts called framing.. and yeah its crazy. But its more impressive the subtle little steps he takes to the right to get in perfect position before the framing

He said Canelo is a big inspiration and we can see it, for his frame its the perfect style, mixed with the fact that he is not really afraid of the wrestling / ground aspect that makes him a true juggernaut

And many "MMA experts" don't know that Ilia's Grappling/Wrestling is much better than his boxing. Only he hasn't needed to use it yet. Topuria started doing KO's once the UFC signed him. Before his UFC debut it was all submissions in the first round.

The most I can recommend is never try to get in a fist fight with a boxer. It's a battle you'll lose most of the time.

Even Yan wasn't like this with his boxing, it's on the same level in terms of skill and obv Yan has a deeper tool bag for boxing with the elbows and spinning back fist, BUT Ilia has the power and more traditional boxing. Ilia makes Sean Strickland's boxing look like weenie hut Jr.
Yan got worse and worse sadly. His boxing was great. Ilya seems like he can progress for a long time. In a couple of years no one will remember that comaprison, i want to be wrong though
@@northpaul3276 It's not that Yan got worse, dude literally didn't have the opportunity to showcase it when merab is shooting 100 takedown attempts on ya. In the Yadong fight, it was a 3 rounder and since Yan is a slow starter hes not been able to show it, plus i think in the Yadong fight, Yan made it clear to grapple more. So we cant really say Yan got worse when ever since the o'malley fight hes had 2 fights after that and the Merab he got cheated cuz or Merab's hax and in the Yadong he made it clear to grapple also.

Strickland is known for being a basic striker lmoa
Yans a different style of boxer plus he’s more more Thai oriented overall. He used a long guard to try to control the lead hand of his opponent and set up his read hand and a high guard to catch punches and shoot counters. Ilia relies more on an active high guard, shoulder rolls, slips, and pull counters to pressure and counter his opponents counters. Petr is more like Issac Cruz while topuria’s more like tank Davis.

Max can win, key is movement and staying elusive not getting stuck against the fence, teep kicks to the body and leg, draw out Ilia combination which are usually 3 strikes or 4 and punish him at the end of it
@@jmz2144with the propensity max has for getting hit idk if trying to draw out ilias combos and waiting till the end of them is a good idea. I think trading with him might be a better idea. Ik that sound contradictory, Hear me out. Max should try to find his own shots when ilias throwing not wait until his combos done cuz ilia is really good at putting his guard back up and taking a step back at the end of combos. If max draws out Ilias offense & mixes up his own offense, clinch entries, knees up the middle, low kicks when ilias closing distance counter uppercuts he can give ilia a problem. Rewatch the Herbert kick that dropped him, the kick head while ilia was was retracting his right to then throw it and Herbert caught him while his hand was down in the middle of him initiating offense. Not after his combo was thrown. 0:57 is didn’t land clean but the most open ilia is is when he throwing.

@@ItamiTemplar you sure? For at least half of max’s career trading in close range was max’s style. He’s only recently become more defense oriented and patient. If any can trade and find opening with ilia it’s max.

Petr Yan is world championship material with the best pure boxing at bantamweight, and chito vera has the three of the best chin in ufc, max, vettori, and himself, and if you're calling 5'7/5'8 midgets, then you must be 6'4 plus. Gane was knocked down by fat tai tuivasa who lost to marcin tubby man tybura, o'malley was having none of that with petr yan, who's the best boxer at bantamweight, and vera who is one of the three best chin in the ufc who's also tough to get hit clean and o'malley 50-45'd him.
