The King of Queens is an Emmy-nominated American sitcom that ran for nine seasons, from 1998 to 2007. The show was produced by Hanley Productions and CBS Productions in associaton with Columbia Pictures Television (1998-1999), Columbia TriStar Television (1999-2002), Sony Pictures Television (2002-2007) and filmed at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California, USA. After the series finale broadcast on May 14, 2007, The King Of Queens became the last American live action sitcom that premiered in the 1990s to end its run. All rights reserved. - Komedie
i love the hell out of this show..i just wish they did more with kelly, Deacon's wife.

wrong answer , He was written out of the show when is actor who played the part, Larry Romano, asked to leave for another sitcom. His final appearance is in Paint Misbehavin' in season three, his only appearance in Season 3. He could also be briefly seen in the ending montage in the series finale episode.

the "straight man" as in "the other guy", the normal guy who has his life together. Doug would be the guy who always has an issue in almost every episode

a 'straight' man is the buffer to the comedian. if you think, in every comedy double act (moreorless) one is the crazy one and the other one is often serious or put upon. think bud abbott, dean martin, ernie wise, oliver hardy, bing crosby (to bob hope) - they were the straight men to their respective partners.

Patton and Gary's characters actually make quite a cute couple, and that's not something I often say about two guy pairings regardless of the relationship.:)
agree. :o) it's harder being the straight man because their role is 2 make the funny guy look funnier; by comparison. ergo, the funny guy is liked more (arguably) by the audience & it's easy for the straight man's effort 2 go undervalued. but w/out them relinquishing their ego (the performer/showman seeking 'approval'), in favour of his partner getting the focus, the funny man would have no buffer and not be as funny. for an actor it's a real learning curve. that's what victor was saying :o)
They should do a spinoff with Spence, Danny and Arthur.

there wasnt any hidden hostility he said that it was hard being the straight man but after awhile he learned that there was nothing wrong with it and he took pride in that after awhile so its all good

no, the actor who played ritchie wanted to quit because of some other show and they just cut him off without explanation just like carrie's sister Sara. it's called the Chuck Cunningham Syndrome.
btw.he was (is) good actor...i missed him too :)
@ReservoirPunk They ran out of storyline ideas for him so he was just slowly and quietly removed from the show.

@Richie2k6 No he wasn't he wouldve went with the others to become an even more regular but wanted to do another show so he stepped out the other show flunked out after 6 episodes 7 unaired he just made the wrong decesion and couldn't get back on the show as a regular agter all that in Season 3

Nah. I think he was fired. Everyone HATED Richie. He was a poorman's Joey from Friends or Vinny from Welcome Back Kotter . He was so obnoxious and one of the worst characters in sitcom history. I'd take Carrie's sister any day over him. Should have kept her over him. The show was so much better without him and I happily watched when they replaced him with James' brother. He ruined the first couple of seasons for me.
I agree. Richie was really boring and annoying. But Carrie's sister was also awful and I am glad she was fired
