    New for 2024, the Capita Aeronaut is a cambered, directional, tapered board that is pretty quick.

    Hey Lachy, you nailed it! I've been riding this board & the Kazu Pro in South Island New Zealand for the last week. I've also spent a fair bit of time on the Mercury in the past. I like them all, but I've really been enjoying the Aeronaut. It feels like it has more camber than the Mercury & a bit more precise, but a bit more forgiving than the Kazu. It does feels very fast & is very stable at speed. And it has pretty good edge hold on harder snow. While it is directional, I have found it pretty easy to ride switch. I totally agree that it could very easily be a 'one board quiver'. Love your work!

    • @Calisnr
      @Calisnr Před rokem +1

      which is more forgiving the Mercury or Aeronaut? I've heard the Mercury is twitchy at slow speeds due to the change in effective edge from about the '20 model.

    • @rogerpye1865
      @rogerpye1865 Před rokem +2

      I think my Mercury is the 2020 model. I would say the Mercury is more forgiving. I think the Merc is a bit softer and as I mentioned , it feels like it has less camber. I know it's all personal preference, but so far I like the Aeronaut more. I do tend to like boards that are a bit stiffer & have more camber. One thing I didn't mention before is that the Aeronaut is surprisingly easy to flat-base. Makes those annoying cat tracks a breeze.

      @@rogerpye1865 so I have a mercury I’ve never been on, brand new. However, keep reading how catchy it is at slow speeds but a lot of people say it’s due to incompatible bindings or stance. Plan on mounting atlas pros. Is it a pretty competent and fun board, quiver of one?

    • @rogerpye1865
      @rogerpye1865 Před rokem +1

      I honestly don't think the Mercury is catchy compared to other boards that are stiffer & have more camber. I think the Mercury is a pretty good all-rounder. If you use a medium to stiff binding I don't think you can go too wrong. But as with all boards, what I like you may not. You should ask Lachy what he thinks - he's ridden all these boards.

      You could still ride the 159 or 157 if you want. If you want to only ride fast, then the 161 would be alright, but I would ignore the weight range and go a little smaller to make keep it easy and quick to turn.

      @@itsssssjohnny that's a positive side effect, but it's mainly just because it generally gets me close to a stance width that I like. Good review Lachy. Im at beginner / intermediate level currently but in love the look of this board. Question is, would it be way way too advance or too stiff for someone at my level or could it be a slow burner and something i'll appreciated more and more as i get better over time. Or do i just cut my losses now and get something like the Burton Process or Salomon Assasin if theyre going to give me that softer forgiving feel at my level right now. Any suggestions or opinion would be appreciated.

      @SnowboardRobot  Před 10 měsíci

      You could get a board like this, but depending on how quickly you learn, it might not be that fun at the start. I would look at something like the Nitro Dropout instead bit.ly/3FunWFX a bit softer, still with a bit of shape that would be fun straight away.

  • @jonnynails
    @jonnynails Před 8 měsíci

    Really having a hard time deciding between this and the Mercury. I already have a Burton Gril Master that I really like and it shreds in powder so i don't need float out of another board. My riding is generally riding the entire mountain carving, slashing, and going fairly fast but not mach 1 while looking for every small/medium side hit/roller/drop off I can jump. I rarely go in the park(when I do it's more stock stuff on boxes and small/medium jumps) and I do spend some of the day going slow on a green with the wife, but just for a few runs. I do find as I get older that I like a board with some dampness - tons of chatter and getting bucked around is not so much my thing. Specs: 6'1 tall and weigh 210lbs with size 9.5 boots. Is it a coin flip or would I be happier on one over another!

    • @SnowboardRobot
      @SnowboardRobot  Před 8 měsíci

      I think you would have more fun on the Mercury, I think the Aeronaut is going to be a little too close in shape/style to the gril master. I don't think you will get much chatter on the Mercury, but if you do want it to bit a little lighter, could look at the Mega Merc snowboardrobot.com/snowboard-review/capita-mega-merc/
      Though it is probably overkill for you need it to do, the regular will cover all the bases.
