I thought this fight was over 5 times before Jiri finally did it. One of the better title fights we've had recently

I've watched since about UFC 40, and this is the craziest fight I've ever seen. With exception of about 20 seconds total, someone was dying every second of this fight.

Yeah some people truly don't appreciate what an incredible feat it is to defend the grappling of an elite and vastly experienced jiu jitsu practitioner like Glover over 25 minutes. I don't think anybody could have fared nearly as well as Jiri there. Not to mention actually choking out Glover in the end. Legendary fight.

That was one of the most legendary UFC battles I've ever seen!!! Both fighters constantly swinging momentums in their favor and absolutely giving it their best to show the beauty of martial arts.

@@thenotorious1785 nah it was a legit RNC, the arm was under the chin and Glover tried to fight it. If you want an example of someone just quitting is Jan tapping to Glover or Amanda Nuñes tapping to Peña: those submissions weren't fully locked in

Jiris takedown defence isn’t great but his defensive grappling was elite
It was better than I had expected, much better actually, considering how good Glover is.
I think Jiri wanted to prolong the fight and was in control the entire time except when he was stunned and Glover had a chance to win but he went back to grapple! What an absolute war.

exhaustion was more so what led to the choke, Glover could barely control himself let alone Jiri on the ground
Heartbreaking to see Glover not make it out with 30 seconds left when he likely would've gotten the decision, but this is what makes MMA so exciting, it only takes one moment to change the direction of a fight.

This was not the same as Amanda Nunes situation. The choke was in all the way. Glover was exhausted, but the choke was fully applied. Not the case with Nunes vs Pena

Jiri had an average of three reversals per round. Glover averaged on 2. That literally means it was a gigantic back and forth, which is exactly what I saw. Besides the first round (and even the end of that one), this fight was a nail biter from both men the entire fight. Glover with the gnp and submission threats and those brutal right hands in the fifth, and Jiri with the constant pressure, vicious body shots, uppercuts, and knees to the face that knocked Glover down more than once.
Glover was ahead one round on my card, but this was far from a sure victory bro.

Rakic is a boring decision machine unless he's fighting people he's far superior to. Ankalaev has been champ material for awhile,smith has been looking good lately so there's lots of fights there. The second jones left the division it got fun, he was barely winning title fights by decision and now its dog eat dog and theres alot of good contenders. LW the most entertaining it been in a long time.

He was just lucky. Glover is the real champion. This is the clown (Jiri). Just a sparrow. Jumping back and forth and hack. He can't defend himself, he always has his hands down. Hes head stays clean after hit. Here, too, he almost went down to the floor in the 4th and 5th rund. Every hit landed cleanly on his head. A REAL big warrior like Jon Jones would beat him smoothly.
