60 years old is the senior citizen age. we celebrate the 50th birthday because it’s the golden year anniversary/birthday.

CJ has the idea of what filipinos do in their birthdays. In my family, we often celebrate birthdays in beach, swimming pool or just in our house... We always have our karaoke for entertainment, beers for older people, parlor games for the children, and we always have spaghetti, lumpiang changhai, macaroni salad, ice cream, biko, letchon baboy or manok(chicken), adobo, dinuguan, caldereta, cake ofcourse and soft drinks... We often invited our neighbors and our uncles, aunties, cousins, and friends.

There are 4 big birthday celebration for Filipinos (base on my experience here in luzon area idk on visayas and mindanao)
7 (for kids because this age is where they will start attending elementary) , the debut 18 (girls)/ 21 (boys), 60 for senior debut and 100 (for this milestone the government reward the person Php100,000)
For the bday parties, noodle dishes (spaghetti, pancit, palabok etc.) are there for the representation of long life. Birthday parties are also made with "program" not just eating. There will be games, singing hbd/congratulating the celebrant, intermission performances, speech from the parents/relatives/friends etc. specially with the 18/60 debut. One more thing is souvenirs, the celebrant prepare small gift tokens for the guests showing their appreciation for attending the party.

i understand the lil' struggle of the first speaker in speaking english.
she's still 'kinda' torn with sentence format of Hangul and English.
Since Hangul is more on SOV rather than SVO like English.

As a filipino its my first time to hear about that tradition clapping on what your age was.
The "Balot" thing is not really a must. Its up to the person who own the birthday if they want to give u a take out or its up to you if u wanna bring some.
    Senior Citizen age is 60.
We celebrate birthdays in any age, but i just know that special age is 1, 7, 18 for girls, 21 for boys and 50 above too.

Idk uf it is a culture, but sometimes friends of the person who celebrates a birthday throw raw eggs to them, some also throw flour aside from the egg, especially when I was still on junior highschool.
