I'm PRETTY sure Franz Shubert isn't going to sue anybody for use of Ave Maria, considering he's been dead since 1828. That's more than fifty years ago, this should be firmly within public domain.

Paul Dana hit it out of the park as the Riddler. They actually made him a legitimate unique threat to Batman and not just a Joker-wannabe that happens to tell riddles. Also outside of Falcone, I like how the two main rogues: Riddler and Penguin lived through the movie. I liked how the Riddler lured Batman into a mistake (and a very legitimate one if you didn't see it coming) where he inadvertently led Falcone to his death. Hated seeing all these superhero movies where the villain(s) all get killed off at the end, so seeing them survive is a nice change of pace.

Fun Fact:Robert Pattinson's audition/screentest took place while he was in rehearsals for shooting Tenet (2020) in Los Angeles in May 2019. Pattinson had to lie to Christopher Nolan about it, but Nolan, who was no stranger to Batman and Warner Bros., immediately figured it out. Pattinson: "I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said it, he goes: 'You're doing the Batman audition, aren't you?'" When Pattinson was told that he won the role of Batman a day before principal photography for Tenet began, he was surprised that Nolan also knew and congratulated him, although Pattinson hadn't told anybody about it yet.

I heard how The Batman was similar to Se7en and I checked it out after I had already watch the Batman. I actually enjoyed Se7en and see why it's a classic. I thought I wouldn't like Brad Pitt's character but his character fit the movie. But yeah, Paul Dano's character is obviously inspired by Kevin Spacey's character.

In The Comics, there is a connection between Thomas Wayne and Carmine Falcone but it`s far looser than later adaptations imply.Basically the big mob boss in Gotham before Falcone and Maroni was this dude named Lew Moxon and Thomas through his philanthropy forced Moxon into bankrupcy which left a power vacuum in the Gotham underworld which Falcone,Maroni and later Penguin,Joker,Riddler et al would go on to fill. So in retaliation , Moxon hired Joe Chill, a nobody thug, to kill the Waynes and make it look like an everyday robbery in Crime Alley. When Bruce revealed himself to Chill and Chill in guilt confessed to his criminal friends "I created The Batman",they beat him to death in prison and an assassin called The Reaper took Chill`s corpse as a trophy.

The only flaw or kind of plot hole of this movie is the fact that Batman punched Gordon, and fled the police station and the next time we see hum with police they just work with him like nothing ever happened. I personally love it, cause it gets annoying having the police fight batman when batman is just trying to help. But also they never established why the cops were trying to kill him in the police station in one scene, and then the next scene when they are capturing Falcone and capturing the Riddler the cops just work with Batman like nothing ever happened lol.

But if you read stories like Batman Damned, Batman Year One, he really isn't any better then the criminals he fights there's a line of Dialogue in Batman: Hush where Poison Ivy has Superman under her control using planet spores infused with kryptonite. Something I just noticed, which I think is one reason why people feel this is kind of elevated higher than The Dark Knight, or the other two films is - the lighting. I just noticed that in legit I think all of Nolan's films, he uses straight natural lighting. And this film theres A LOT of stylized lighting done either on set or in post. However I don't think the natural lighting in the Dark Knight should take away from it's accomplishments as a cultural phenomena, and with that - I maintain the position that The Dark Knight is still the best Batman film ever made. There is something to be said about Batman, but perhaps every superhero - and that is they are only as good as their villains. Now while I do think Heath absolutely stole the show, I don't think his performance completely overshadowed Batman, I really don't. I think it elevated him. In this however, while the Riddler was definitely creepy and disturbing, and Dano's performance was excellent - I just don't think the riddler character in this was very interesting. Whereas I found The Joker to be exceptionally interesting.

7:23 28:38 46:23 47:32 It's cool just learning about camera lens and now I'm noticing which type of camera popular movies are being filmed on. They are using an anamorphic lens here as indicated by the oval glare. I'm noticing changes in depth of field now too.
Can someone else with film knowledge tell me what else I should be able to notice that give away the camera being used?

That last third really fell apart, imo...
Based on the BtS stuff the director said, a second guy came in to "help him rewrite it". I'm guessing studio-mandated large-scale action scenes and easter eggs. The general quality drops, in how much the earlier parts made sense, so much.
Well, except for the single other large-scale set-piece, which is the batmobile chase, which endangered the lives of a whole lot of people, AND didn't even hand the Penguin over to the police, so it was totally unnecessary and could easily be cut out of the movie.
It's interesting how both the last third and the chase seem to be noticeably way lazier in detail.

got to see the featurette for the car chase and it just blew my mind to see just how much of it was done practically. they even had stunt guys operating the back areas of trailer so that they could drift them.
It's this movie's insistence upon using practical elements to ground everything else that makes it look visually solid. And I am a sucker for good contrast. So this movie was a visual feast for me. Esp. after being tired of the general blockbuster flat images and shoddy CGI implementation.

There is a prequel book for this movie that mentioned that he and Alfred were the one responsible for making all the tech (also he owns wayne enterprises so it'll be easy to acquire parts that he can use from his company's r&d department) but mostly its Bruce since he traveled the world learning the best there is like in chemistry, advance gadgetry, and combat etc so basically this is a smarter batman than most of his live-action counterpart but he is still on his year 2 so he's still figuring it out and most of the techs that he used seemed to be a prototype that will improve soon just like that wingsuit he had he may tailor that into a cape that he can use to glide when jumping off rooftops kinda like Nolan's memory cloth cape, also there is a deleted scene of joker and batman from this movie you should check that out

@@silentgrind34 was talking about live action though, the closest to detective we got before this movie was Keaton when he was solving the Joker toxin patterns, all the other batmen are more brute than brains as far as the movie goes there were subtle hints during thr dark knight where Baleman analized a bullet but thats it not that I dont love batman who kicks ass kinda like BvS warehouse scene but most of these batmen seems to be more of a brawler.

Paul Dano is a phenomenal actor. idk just how much of his filmography y'all are aware of. but def give Prisoners (2013), There Will Be Blood (2007), Little Miss Sunshine (2006) (ALL THREE would make for a great reaction, btw. Especially the first one). he also wrote and directed the movie Wildlife (2018) starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal. It's a pretty good movie. Def check it out on your own time if y'all are looking for a slow-burn drama. It's not too long either.
And check out The Lighthouse with Robert Pattinson & Willem Dafoe. FANTASTIC movie. Great reaction potential.
