It's fine that Ukrainian players don't want to shake hands with Russians and Belarusians. I understand the reasoning and thinking behind it. What I don't respect is someone like Kostyuk who couldn't put that into words but instead invites hostility. Svitolina either needs to sit her down and have a chat or completely disassociate from her.
I'm sure Svitolina has a few detractors from within the Ukrainian tennis community. I'm sure her recently retired male counterparts don't agree with her being too civil with the likes of Kasatkina.
Big ups to Baindl though. The only Ukrainian who continues to shake hands with Russian opponents. Whether it's because she doesn't see herself as a visible, big name in tennis or she doesn't care for adding fuel to the fire, I'd like to know her thoughts on this. Interesting.

It helps more when I see that my enemy is as normal as I am and we are kind of the same. So a handshake is always a good start. Why must tennis players incite instead of showing that russians, belarussians... whoever people can be friends. In my opinion this hepls more than being disrespectful.

Sabalenka, Kasatkina, ect. are genuinely nice players on the tour. They don’t support the war. I don’t like the no handshakes. The union of Ukraine and Russia creates peace, not division. ❤

Sabalenka is nice? Are you kidding? At the Roland Garros she on propose stayed near net when she beat Svitolina, it was very stupid to watch. She knew that Ukrainians players don’t shake hands with her but she stayed there, for what?🙃

I think you are offending Kasatkina, by comparing her view on the war, with Sabalenka's.
Or you miswrote Sabalenka instead of Zvonareva.

Yes but i think it's adding damage to the whole situation and doing THEIR game by absorbing external facts into tennis...like the war on flags, as if they were trying to delete those nations from the world...why don't they just ban those players?!
