Well it's more fun fouling a 9.70m than jumping a valid 7.80m
True
I wish I could have ever reached 7.80's though. Heck, I'd even take any 7. but I never got farther than 6.58
It s easier to jump 9.7m when you make a step more ;)
@@nicogif77 Tell that to Mike Powell
Wow really. Thanks for info.
It was a mega scratch, he took another step after the board. That's why he cruised almost 1 meter past the world record.
Actually, the world record is 8,95 so...
Emilia Oliveira That's why he landed almost past 10 meters. I don't understand the point of your comment, I already know the world record. Please give me context.
Aram Dovlatyan Worldrecord is 8,95 which is like 9m. 9m + 1m is 10m. You said he jumped 1m longer than the wr, which is wrong. But its not a big deal.
El Domenico He landed past 9.5m, I generalized it and said it's almost 10m, which is almost 1 meter past the wr.
Okay true
They should change the rules in long jump, so that it doesn't matter where you take off, only how long you actually jump. We have the technology for this today, why do we keep these rules and miss out on some amazing records because jumpers have to be at a very specific spot when they take off? How does that benefit the sport?
Precision is also part of competing
@@p3rk4n27 most people only care about the actual distance of a jump, not the irrelevant specifics to try and make it a competition when it doesn't need to be that way.
@@p3rk4n27 the track and field die hards on the other hand will probably be more conservative on the matter
@@injata yeah you can also say some people only like top speed in sprinters, so lets remove 100m track, lets remove start, and just use devices to calculate top speed...
@@p3rk4n27 this isnt an opinion ive heard before, but if it exists fair play. it would be interesting to have world records listed based on speed not time.
0:15 look at where he started jumping !

Yes... many think he jumped longer than 10m but it's not so
He took another step after the board
@@hov11.02 Ha, ha ha who thinks that? Most likely he didn't even jump 9 metres!
That was like a 7-8meter jump he took another step over the board 😟 huge fault
No way
@@luke_222 yes way, probably closer to 8.
@@synchronium24 dude I’m pretty sure he was joking
@@synchronium24 he was being sarcastic.
That looked like the most pedestrian approach I've ever seen.
the guy was way off the board (over a metre)it shoes a pic of one of his feet over the board mark by about 3cm but that was not his take-off leg, he took over near the edge of the front of the pit.
where was he supposed to jump from? (maybe give the time stamp as well)
@@Skulltroxx 0:15 the board is obscured by the person in the blue shirt and white hat on the at the left he is over a metre after the take-off board and took off from the edge of the pit.
@@Skulltroxx I did this when I was a kid so I don't completely remember, but I'm pretty sure your jumping foot cannot pass the white bar. It can go on top, but not past it
@@Skulltroxx You can see the line where he should have jumped from at 0:18 from another angle.
Who here randomly found this on their recommended
👍😄😄
It was about 7.8 meters.
Plot twist: He is Anakin Sywalker. He hates sand.
He didn't have the high ground.
You tube recommendations really worth it!!
Plot twist: He has sand anxiety
Dude almost cleared it to the grass lol
right leg on the board, left leg in comment section :-)
lol true
Funny, even the crowd at the stadium laughed, and the announcers too!
You can see him stutter step near the end. His run up was waaaaaaaay off.

Your right, There are exactly 2 meters from the edge of the sandbox to the plank. I saw it live and he went at least 1,50m over the board.
Wasn't even over 8 meters, he took another stride beyond the board...
No he didnt
@@francescodalonzo9270 yes he did
@@francescodalonzo9270 he did
As a former longjumper I have to say we can jump easily over 8 or 9 or even 10meters. It depends how much distance do we need to step over the board. Once I jumped out the pit. Not a big deal for a 7.6m jumper....
Were you hurt?
@@guillaumelecam6257 just scratches
what would the distance be just measuring from where he jumped? would it be close at all to world record or well short?
Amazing 9m over long Jump 😁
It's more like 8,he did another step after he should
Im looking for that clip, please link?
He took one additional step post hitting the board 😂
Give this dude a spot in the NBA watch him break NBA records the first day!
fake.. he jumps 2 metres fault!
gos skarl You don't call it fake then, it's just a faul xD. The title is just misleading.
gos skarl 3 metres
Finally, somone clever
What would do without you.
Bruh its just one step
i belive when i see! put a video of that :)
just 1.50m foul :D
he took a full step after the board
Awesome 😯
Mike Powell almost had a heart attack..

OK VERY NICE GOOD JOB BRO
Does he have to jump before the white part? Or before the green and yellow part?
that was a double jump rather than a long one
It is not about landing point ,
It's about , when he reduced the speed
still he did well ❤
Champions✌✌👍👍👍👍
Good for you!
Oh okay!
У Самары своя сборная?
Прыгун из Самары, горжусь
Bermudan triple jumper Brian Wellman did that in the World Championships a few years back, was about a 21 metre jump
He literally flew
If you are right footed you need to have an odd number of strides I use 18 because i am also a distance runner and I can hold the sprint. You should also start out slower with a wider base and slowly get faster. Make sure that you are pumping your arms and when you are jumping do not hop off both feet spring off with one while throwing your hands up
... and if, like a normal person, you start your run on your left foot .. ?
when it showed him stepping on the board, that was his 2nd last step
Woooww 9 meterss
С его длинными ногами конечно перепрыгнешь этот песок. ☺
kenenisab: Yeah, I watched it again and I saw it now...About a meter over the boardXD
But still impressive...Hope he qualifies for the final at the Olympics...
OMG GET THE CAMARA
what a jump with such a choppy approach! looked like he slowed to a walk and still flew, when i was jumping in high school i practiced in the living room with a bell on a string hanging from the ceiling, i would run down the hall and leap trying to ring the bell with my head, once or twice i hit the ceiling, i would love to see a modification to the sport to show the max height these top athletes reach, like in basketball, the distance is great but their height is also impressive!
Look at the last steps. He did not have much sped either.
Deceptive. The photo shows him 3 inches over the board, but you can't see the jump board from the side view, and you see him hitting a second board just prior to the pit, so it makes you believe that the full stride past the board was where they took the photo of his foot. Otherwise, that was over 31 feet, but really more like 25 feet.
If you pause at the right moment, you can see his foot almost touching the sand. Judging by his run and how small were the last steps, he ran 2 more steps than he should have. It was a jump of maximum 8m in reality. The picture of his foot where he fouled a little was from another jump
That close up was of the stride before he took off
The video they showed was his second to last step, he took a step afterward that was nearly a meter past the board. If measured from where he actually jumped it must have been a 26 foot jump at best.
He didn’t want to hurt himself so that’s why he landed in the sand.
If I were a long jumper I would forget about the mark.
terribe start. Even without the jumpoff he'd jump no more than 8m
I’m no expert, but from what I deduced among the comments is he did something or other a whole stride past a board or whatever. Tough break, fella.
Oh I get it cause when they showed his foot touching the mat up close, it gave him extra spring
パウエルもびっくりやな
Why is this just now being recommended to me?
Thank you. I don't get why that dude doesn't believe it. I was only that good early on because I started jumping in 7th grade.
Agree with you, It just makes me laugh :') (sorry for my english i'm french)
How do you say that in French?
@@mikestewart5194 I can't remember why i posted this comment. I don't know if it was a reply or if i talked about the video. But in french it would be "Je suis d'accord avec toi, celà m'a juste fait rire".
@@SaiyajinJump Don't you hate that?! Especially when some "Le Miserables" really pushes your buttons, and you can't remember what the big whiner was referring to! I think it might have been how people were talkin about how far a guy jumped-when he fouled to begin with-and took an extra stride!

not jump, fly!
he's right though he stepped over the line
These announcers should watch the long jump battle from ‘91 btw Carl Lewis and mike Powell. A cpl of Mike Powell’s jumps were fouls similar to this guys. This wasn’t a good jump his technique nearing the board could use some work but his approach was good.
he took a step after the board
Wow, came down mate. I've obviously misread the tone of your reply, which I'm sorry for. The funny thing about this whole situation is that, and this is completely true, I'm picking my glasses from the opticians tomorrow after learning that I do in fact have quite bad eyesight. Sorry about the misunderstanding, have a good day :)
you're right
O i forgot to say that I am a left footed runner
THIS IS THE BEST COMMENT...YES..the foul was indeed worse because he took off with the other foot, rather than the foot you see just on the plasticine!!!!!
I lol'd so hard when I saw this Live, jajaja
It's over 9000 (mm).
He stepped an other one after that 5 cm foul.
Ref hoisting a red flag looks at him like,,Really??
Where did he jump from ? What was the real distance he covered though
landed at 9.70m ... minus 1.80m over the board = 7.90m
But we all know that we have this guy
arada 1 adim atioo yani 9 metre değil 2 metrelik tahta yerine yolun sonundan basiyor buda9 metre değil 7 metre yani siradan bir atlayiş oluyor bebeler
you are right
He only went over by 5cm.... + a whole stride! Haha
(For all supporter)
when you see 0:15, you will realise that the replay 5cm+ is surely fake. His step is actually in front of the pool with nearly no more distance.
I bet ppl could clear the entire box if they wanted, there just scared to get hurt
Why aren't the commentators making a bigger deal about this? If he had taken off just a few inches shorter he would have destroyed the world record. But they're just sitting around laughing about it.
What if he would have landed where there's no sand?
he didn't jump from the board. he jumped off his left leg and on the close up on where his foot was postioned on the board was his right foot. he jumped and from the start of the pit. thats why it looked like he was jumping far.
Find: Helsinki 2012 Long Jump M Final
and tell me if that take off board in 2 feet away???
when u make 268 lj in cs
He's not lying. I jumped 18 when I was 15, so it's possible
18 inches?
Yeah, the foot you see passing that green line is his before last step.. ;p
J Prior, I believe what you say. what those other guys are saying doesnt even make sense or add up.
1 year old 3 meters!! :)
That sand pit IS TOO SHORT AND INFACT QUITE DANGEROUS, ATHLETES MIGHT END UP INJURED. WHAT A ...
I realise that but I can't see the other step at all in the footage, it goes way too fast.
inches???
Wow
