- Hello guys welcome back, In today's video i showed you guys on how to make some delicious Mexican lentil soup, it's a good source of iron and not mention it's perfect for these cold winter days. Hope you guys enjoy :)

INGREDIENTS:
8 cups of water
1/2 pound of lentils
6 bacon strips
2 tomatoes
1/4 onion
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 jalapeño
1/2 bunch of cilantro
salt or chicken bouillon (to taste) - Jak na to + styl

I love Lentils. I was married to a Hispanic Man & we ate alot of different Classes of Beans including Lentils. And other ones too. My Kids too back then. Liked eating different Classes of Beans too. . I love , love Lentils Beans like I do Pinto & Black Beans. Thank you for your Recipe. I will try this one. This Recipe reminds me of a Ranchero Pinto Beans Recipe. I never thought of using Lentils this way. I usually cut up Onions & Tomatoes ,& Garlic with my lentils. So, I will try your Recipe here. Thank you. We did not have alot of money back then. And Lentils is such an Inexpensive Staple Food & Beans that I always bought them. Abd made them on a Regular Basis. Plus ,more importantly " Lentils " is such a very healthy Food to eat too. I love Lentils. And back then & eaven today I added the Tomatoes & Onions because they didnt Cost very much then. The Vost of Living is up. But, thank God I can still buy Lentils & make them to this day.
Lentils have so many healthy vitamins that can help keep your vision good.

When I was a little kid living in the poor city of Neza, this was the best meal ever! My mom makes it now, and it just brings back so many memories!
I'm Mexican and I love lentenjas! My mom would always make it with spinach and other veggies. I have never had it with bacon (I'm vegan). Also, don't use boullion. It has tons of sodium and preservatives. I replace with veggie broth or *Better than Boullion * which has quality ingredients and it very flavorful. Mexican dishes are incredibly versatile without meat or animal ingredients. Mucho mejor para nuestra gente ya que gran parte de nuestra cultura tiene enfermedades del corazón, presión arterial alta y diabetes. Todo esto se puede eliminar sin comer carne y productos animales, y aún tener platos increíblemente sabrosos. Muchisimas gracias 😊

I left out bacon but added cabbage and sweet peppers and this was so good! I loved the cilantro and a squeeze of lime!

My doctor told me that the iron is better absorbed if we eat our lentils with a source of vitamin c, like the tomatoes in the broth, or I drink a glass of orange juice after my meal. I add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the lentil soups too, idk if that helps with absorption, but I think it adds a nice flavor.

Mi mama made them with tomato paste instead of tomatoes to make it creamy and red colored. I looked up bacon lentils in hopes of learning how to do it again, miss her food. This is essentially the same recipe and I'm going to try them again soon. Thank you!

I made this recipe yesterday it was great I used hotdogs instead of bacon it came out like frijoles charros I definitely will use this recipe again btw I never cooked lentils before thank you for the great recipe!
