- With two new AMOLED screens and a more integrated control surface, Maschine Studio is now the flagship hardware in the range, with a major software upgrade in V 2.0 which also is compatible with the existing Maschine Hardware, there's a lot to digest. Gaz Williams takes us for a deep appraisal of the two new components.

This is the first time I've seen this presenter. He's enthusiastic, detail oriented, and clearly understands what users want to do. Thumbs up for this guy.
not as good a speaker, though. Even so, he'll get better :)
yeah, but he hopefully got better since 2013 because I could just not listen for more than 3 minutes.
Glad I wasn't the only one
Well, 8 years later Gaz Williams has a fabulous independent channel
This guy has so much character, I love it.
at 00:00 i just thought he was going to say " hey, i'm drunk "
LOL
been laughing for a minute because of your fucking comment
LMAO he looks like it
Love the new features, but the best part of this video Is Gaz Williams!
More reviews from Gaz please :-)
Great overview Gaz, many thanks !
A great and concise review! It's well worth a prospective buyer's time to watch. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the product.
wow, great job on your first big sonic state review Gaz! Looking forward to seeing more reviews and even more extreme hair in the future!
Thanks Gaz! A work around could just be doing automation on receive tracks in your DAW. Just wanna say, your enthusiasm and good nature really make your reviews and podcasts that much more informative and fun. keep up the good work!
Great review Gaz, love your style, keep up the good work !
Really nice review there! Would love to see more reviews done by Mr Gaz Williams!
I love Sonic State, I wish that the developers and manufacturers would use these guys for more promotion stuff. Always come with a great review, easy to understand and in depth. Just they dont get given enough stuff to review! Give Sonic State the first looks guys! :)
I love this review! This guy is awsome. My favorite part is where he said,"The buttons have a little click to them giving you a sense of positive action". I couldn't have said that any better !
Gaz has such an enthusiastic manner, you can't help but like him. As for the Maschine, an incredible feat of engineering, I love it. I'm still learning at the min and it's like an Aladdins cave of features and power. Thank you for the review and demo Gaz.
You can trust sonicstate to do the review I was waiting for :). And nice surprise to see you doing the review Gaz!
It's great to see thm making improvements. Nice review.
Great job Gaz! Hope to see more reviews from you! Also, need my Sonic Touch fix!
Man, I'm sold on this. Getting as soon as I can!!
This guy is the Bob Ross of reviews, apparently. Well spoken. Really enjoyed this video, I feel well informed now and highly excited for Studio to arrive tomorrow afternoon!
very good review, BIG thumbs up!
very excited to recive my Maschine Studio! :)
Great review Gaz!!!
Incredible piece of equipment
I'd still like to be able to use the encoders to adjust the mixer on the Mk1/Mk2 hardware though. I am sure that will be functionality that they add I hope.
Amazing review! Thank you!
What a great review! Cheers!
I like the conclusion.. made sense.. I like this guy.. good work mate !!!
Excellent review!
Great overview thanks. As an ableton suite and machine mk1 user . . You just helped me make my mind up machine has to go to help fund push
I like it. I want it. I want it now.
Great review!
Excellent review
great overview mucho appreciated, bring me more
Great Review - Thank you!
Outstanding review!

Gaz... Great job on this review!
yay for the drum synths feature !
got mine coming in today =] Super stoked.
how do you like it so far? I've had mine for about 2 days now hahah..really nice and I'm getting used to it already. I'm new to native instruments products. Only thing I don't really like is that it's not stand-alone thus needing a good cpu and sound card is a must. I might need to upgrade my comp soon :-(
Just got V2 and it looks great.
Good review! You should do a tutorial focused on layering the drum synths inside machine 2.0
I love this guy. As I was watching him I felt like he was missing a drink in his hand lol
Loving the hair, crank that volume up to 11! Would love to see more reviews from you including your thoughts on your OP1 (inc. a few of your sounds).
Very good review :)
Great reviewer! thank you!
Good review.
Good review
love those screens !
Very good review. Would have liked to see the 2.0 Software in action on MKI hardware. Nonetheless I updated my Maschine and must say that I'm really impressed by what NI has achieved. The Drum Synths alone are worth the 99 Bucks... And the performance increased significantly. And Gaz, I liked your style of reviewing this baby, very joyful to watch.
Good job, Gaz... and thank you for mentioning that NI have still not added the one feature that should have been there from the start.... Swing on Note Repeat
Ah good point but I was referring to being able to access the mixer view on the hardware and to control it with the encoders. Perhaps I didn't make that clear enough thanks.
Only to the three preset levels like in the v.1. Small, medium and large. In standalone there is also still the full screen mode too.
about 10.15 'accessing mixer view on the hardware not available for MK1 & 2' yes it is it's done by Shift + Navigate. I just found this out also on the NI forum. so thought I would share the knowledge here. Love the enthusiastic video. more! :)
Amazing work guys. Great editing and pacing. I've been using the new Book of Echoes expansion with Maschine 2.0 and being able to load in unlimited kits is really helpful. I can't imagine someone thinking this is only good for live???
Love this review. I can tell the guy loves this machine because he always looks like he has so much to say about it, but gets jumbled up. It's not that perfect sales pitch bullshit, it's real talk from someone who loves the product
to access the mixer view from the mk1 or mk2 you have to press shift + navigate!
good video Gaz
+Elite Beats - | Hip Hop Instrumentals | Rap Beats lol
Workflow is perfect, They have come a long way with 2.0
plus they have a lot of cool expansion packs like Bass Vortex and Book of Echoes
Hopefully they'll do. I can imagine that this is a "most wanted" feature (at least for me...), since this would be the fastest way to adjust the levels. The screen res should be more than sufficient for this.
Awesome review. Im considering upgrading to this. It is expensive for just a controller. Hate to buy it and find theres something better in a few months. My choice i guess..
I have just upgraded to Maschine, being a MPC studio/Renaissance & got the Maschine studio. The learning curve is a little overwhelming, but I love it! Definitely a sexy piece of hardware
what an awesome halloween treat!
Thank you for your response. I already bought Maschine Software 2.0 and I am really impressed. The lack of a mixer view will be due to the resolution of the mkI displays, nonetheless it is great fun to play with the new features. Sadly the Studio Version is out of my budget... I hope to see more reviews of you! Cheers!
They should've gave us a choice of how we want the shorter scenes to act. I would love for the shorter scene to not be looped unless I decided for it to loop. Hopefully they add that in the next update. Can't wait until my Studio gets here tho.
defo interesting update for sure..i'd want to wait to see how akai repy to this with any update to the MPC Ren software or a new product maybe?..i'm not in any desparate rush though so other feel free to jump aboard!
I really like this review, and the way the presenter was reviewing in very interesting way. You remind me of apple advertisements but without being full of shit and targeting snob side of humans.
Nice Video
i like the way he talks - so cool !
Alex Gregory flaaaagship
this tool looks very useful.
Are you going to do an ID Review of the Maschine Jam with 2.6.5 software? Maschine is a totally different beast now.
I love this guy I could watch any review of his..he is so to the point with added character...doesn’t just run his mouth for nuttin
gaz has some serious heartburn
Question though: As this is not a standalone DAW, how does it integrate into one? Using Cubase, do I have to manually route every effect bus / group / signal into my DAW or is their some kind of ReWire / VST functionality that gives me control over both softwares at the same time?
Fading out when it gets interesting at the end? :) still a great review. Thanks for that! :)
Great review! Gaz, can you guys over at sonic state tell us if you are able to automate effects ACROSS scenes? Or on the master track? I'm asking in case one wanted to do a filter sweep or similar from one scene into another. Thanks!
One question Gaz, in the beginning of the clip you made a point of noting that Maschine is not a DAW so that we should make sure that we don't compare it to a daw and rather see it as the beatbox that it is, but the features that you referred to are features that are in the mpc series from the 500 - the 5000, and the mpc is clearly far from a daw but a very old drum machine sampler. outside of the vst compatibility is Maschine a step backwards ?
Very good review. I missed how the 2.0 software looks on mkI Hardware. How do the screens show the arrange view, do we have a mixer view..? But the new hardware looks terrific...
Good review, I'm really taking to the drum synths too. I noticed how you didn't want to call them analog drums, haha. With the scenes though, I too was surprised when I couldn't delete one of the ghost patterns but I'm seeing now if I can maybe record some mute automation or something. But I do notice that I cannot get hold of the macros. For some reason they won't let me edit them. Any ideas why?? Thanx in advance!
great review!
only thing I personally disagree with is that they should have added an audio interface. I think most people who would consider shelling out this much on a controller will have an interface that suits their needs far better than something built into this ever could...
keep up the great work!
No I don't think so, automation would be written into whatever pattern you record it into so if you used those patterns again later in the arrangement they would contain the automation too. I am fairly sure that you can't automate master effects either. I could be wrong about this though.
Can the jog wheel in the studio be used to adjust the start and end points of a sample while in the sample edit window?
So it seems highly recommended pairing an audio interface with this device, correct (since it does not have its own)? Would my Saffire Pro 26 work?
Question: I have both Ableton and maschine plus a Mac with 16 Gbs of ram BUT my Ableton always crashes when I drag and drop my audio from maschine into Ableton. Has that ever happened to you? I love both live and the maschine but I might have to do standalone in Maschine. Any advice would be helpful.
Can you mute midi notes yet in maschine 2.0?
Nice
No mixer view as of yet on Mk 1 hardware and a very basic timeline in arrange view. The Studio with its big colour screens comes into it's own with the arrange view.
You try to give the video more brightness it will be great if you do
Gaz Williams - the Wolverine Years ...
He's currently modelling Nick's follicular allocation.
Is window resizable in 2.0 software's vst mode???
I have maschine 1.8 and I cant get to any sounds I always get an error msg.
can you use version to software with the old MK1? is it free?
Hey guys, Maschine became my number production tool, I think I'm not gonna go for the new harwear, since compared to the MKII there's not so much news.... But does the MKII really reflects the new software. Thing is I would hate to have to look at my laptop screen again. THX in advance for your answer.
Can it make feedback loops ?
I like your review!
Maschine Studio is great, minor issues, like no arpeggio, when you duplicate and move a pattern, then it is not easy to get it on the right place, also want to automate a scene, and don't want to have this effect on the other scenes with the same pattern.. hope soon a new update to get it 100% ok!
look here for a track i made in maschine studio;
NI MASCHINE STUDIO 2 DEMO Yan beats, with voices of stephanie kay and billy dragon.
Bella!
Love his hair
@ 18:45... One thing I learned from doing sales is that you never show or talk about the old product while giving a demonstration of the new product Lol When he showed the MKII I saw it was exactly the same as the Studio as far as the button lay out goes. Now for $400 less I'll live with a smaller unit & screen. Make it more portable also
Though I do see the extra functionality
My control pads are not working, nothing is working on my controller not the play button, browser button, nothing but the software on my windows 8 ,
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?
Decent review ... I personally refuse to update until they offer real-time time stretch/pitch shifting.
tnx the idea but show more live how it wrks coz i am little bit interested by action tnx
really? in what way. outside of the vst compatibility and those screens what is better on this than any other sampler? I heard you can't even record mutes on this thing.
Indeed, hair was something that was lacking in previous sonic state reviews
