    Lots of comments on insulation on concrete wall. I agree. 1 inch foam first then wall then electrictical then fiberglass. Then vapor barrier. And you need more outlets. Looks awesome though..

    This is so great and encouraging! I'm pregnant and need to add space to the house in order to fit in a nursery. I'm planning on paying for drywallers but doing everything else myself. After watching this I think it's definitely possible!

      That's awesome! First off, congrats on being pregnant! The wife and I remodeled our entire house when my wife was 4 months pregnant - I definitely appreciate the stress! I had never done all this alone before and so, to you I say, it is definitely possible!

    Wonderful and very inspirational. The "time lapse" makes it look like - easy peasy! But I know it isn't and it takes time and tons of work to get it looking good. I have a finished "rec room" in the basement of my 1956 small ranch style home, it needs some refreshing, so I've been watching videos by people brave enough to take on their basements and turn them into something useful, which is a lot more than what I'm thinking about doing. Wondering (1) is there something you could do to hide the cords dangling down from the ceiling and (2) would prefer seeing the metal posts boxed in to give the entire room a finished look.

    • @BenSliwa
      @BenSliwa  Před 3 lety +2

      Good question! I'm no electrician, and when we first bought the house there was pretty severe water damage down there - especially electrical related. We've had an electrician out since to do the repairs. Most of the power i was pulling from the adjacent laundry room.

      I set the walls back substantially to make up for moisture and all that

    Great job. I don't know how you did it under $2k ... I have a 1200 sq ft basement and it would cost me over $1200 just to frame it (I have plans that include interior walls) - if I were able to get 2' x 4's! Even now, they are quoting me at least 2-3 months at the local big box store. Last year they had all the 2' x 4's you wanted for $12 a piece ...

    • @BenSliwa
      @BenSliwa  Před 3 lety +1

      Sure! They have paint called ceiling paint made specifically for what you need. It comes in white typically, but I assume you can color mix it. If you can't I'd suggest a matte finish paint. And pick a brand that covers more each coat (our least favorite part of the whole project was painting the ceiling)
