Here are 9 facts about Baha'i temples, also known as Baha'i Houses of Worship.
Baha’i temples, or Baha'i Houses of Worship, as they are also called, are places of prayer built by Baha’is, but open to people of all faiths, religions and beliefs. In the Baha’i Writings, they are also referred to as Mashriqu’l-Adhkar, which is Arabic for “The Dawning Place of the Mention of God”, and they are not simply buildings, but are considered sacred institutions.

The 9 sides is due to 9 being symbolically representing of the word “Baha” in the Abjad numeral system of assigning numbers to letters and words for poetic purposes; Baha being important for it meaning Glory (of God) in Arabic and representing Baha’u’llah, founder of the Bahá’í Cause.
It is also explained in the Bahá’í Writings that 9 is representative of unity and wholeness in that it is the last single digit and includes all previous numbers within it, in a way.
But, the nine sides doesn’t represent the nine world religions, which is often mistakenly explained as the reason.
