    I bought a John Kennedy Mystery Box II 12 years ago. It was the one gimmick I could never do. When I got back into magic after regaining use of my arm that box was my goal. It was so rewarding to be able to trick people the way it was meant to be used. It makes me want this one...

    I've had this for a few weeks . I'm just a hobbyist but, verses other card revelation boxes that have come out over the past 5-6 years, I see how this would be much better for close up. Great product and I am very happy with mine.

    Thank you, I always look forward to your reviews. I have had the mint box and a wooden card to box, but the last few years the very best is, a folded card in a paper clip, I hand it to someone to hold before I begin, then mercury fold, and just do a fake switch when I take the clipped card back( just put it on top of the folded card and pretend to slide it out, It has never failed and always receives an amazing reaction. Also, no one has ever tried to open it before I ask. Cost, a paper clip and a little misdirection.

    The only issue I have with it, when you pull it out it just seems to “fast” I think it should be done smoothly. Like Jay Sankeys Paperclipped, you can pull it off smoothly. That’s always my go to and with good audience management you can even them have them hold the paper clipped card.

      I agree. The "move" is too obvious and looks completely unnatural. Not for me.

  • @nathanhorne1

    I have a similar device, Mystery Solved. I use it a lot, but I've started covering the box with a wine glass and a handkerchief. I've always thought that people should not see the playing card before or during the routine, as they will assume you just switched it. A card can't be in two places at the same time... If you cover it and only uncover it after the final vanish, then they will wonder 'how did you get it into the box' rather than 'how did he swop my card with the one in the box?" Hope that makes sense.
    Looks awesome though!

    Hello David, I have a question about vision box 2.0. Is it true that it makes a loud sound when you do the switch? And if you build it with a red card can you change the thing in the box to a blue card or a billet?

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  Před 3 lety

      no sound - and as I said in the video you need to decide what your going to do (red or blue) before you assemble it, I would not recommend taking it apart after you put it together very often

    I often hear you talk about billets...what are billets? I would like to get the Vision box 2.0 but it's gonna have to wait. Do you know if there is much difference between this and the original?

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  Před 3 lety

      billets are blank pieces of paper that we usually write predictions on

    • @lektsok6
      @lektsok6 Před 3 lety

      @@magicorthodoxy Thanks for that, makes sense. In England a billet is a lodging place for military personnel, which would be difficult to get in the box! LOL

  • @ColinUnderwood
    @ColinUnderwood Před 3 lety +1

    Wondering why you have to jerk the card out rather than smooth? Also the original I have needs a tiny object to reset. This reset in corporate setting was awful. ( although good for examination)

  • @effyiew7318
    @effyiew7318 Před 3 lety +1

    Lol it's great to find someone doing magic as old as I am because if you didn't do magic through the 80s, then you don't have an idea how badly made or how macgyvered a lot of the gimmicks were. Back in '87 I paid $75 just for a crappy spring loaded tube with fishline from Tannen's just so I could make dollar bills float! haha Nice review by the way - no wasted time. Just straight to the point.

    If that interested I have 2 videos on the vision box. One teaches how to fix the gimmick so it can be interchangeable and the other offers 5 new handlings. If you own the device these videos can be found on the secret Facebook group also in the penguin magic discussion board. Also if Hocus_Pocus is interested I can send them the links to post if they have a digital instruction page as well :)
