    Subaru has always had a knack for creating rally-infused products across a wide range of vehicles. So when they took their high performance WRX's DNA, and shoved it into their family compact SUV, the result was the Forester XT! Now for 2017, the SJ, 4th Generation Forester XT is set to take on the best high performance compact SUVs on the market. So has Subaru really got a winner here? Watch the review to find out!

    Not sure why you don't have 1mill subscribers yet. This is by far the best review of the Forester around. Keep up the good work! Subscribed.

      Thanks a bunch! I'll be honest, I feel the reason I dont have a lot of subscribers is because I took a big hiatus for about a year because I was being bullied on this channel before. But now that's gone and I'm wanting to improve my videos and reviews to be a lot more professional.

    Excellent Review. well explained. I'll be buying the forester due to my lifestyle. The engine is also very simple.. not to complex. And I'm 6'7 and i have more then plenty of room for myself.

    To me Forester brand died, when they started pushing CVT automatic. The last non-CVT Turbo model with the air intake on the hood is the only one I'd consider buying, even though they're already considered ancient. Plenty of used ones with 400km on the odo with gasket replacements. Respectable longevity.

    I really like my 2009 Forester XT. It's not the prettiest and the fanciest SUV out there, but it's been reliable and it's fun to drive. The panoramic moonroof is a huge plus. I always switch to winter tires from late Nov. thru mid/late March and it makes an enormous difference in snow and on icy roads.

      Its a small world eh? I now have a deal with them so I can go film whichever Subaru's I want, whenever I want. Just have to message them and tell them which one I'm aiming for. I think either the Outback Limited 2.5 or Legacy 3.6R are on my list.

      sweet can you do the Subaru Crosstrek and the Outback? I was hoping to get a Subaru but things didn't go as plan so i got my first car which is a 2011 Honda CRV EX-L but i would have to wait a year and a half to trade in for the car i wanted. A Subaru Crosstrek, Foster, Or Outback is on my list

  • @digitaltree515
    @digitaltree515 Před 7 lety +2

    Those safety features are standard on all trims for the 2017 Rav4 (including active braking and lane assist). You said you hadn't heard of them in other compact SUV's, so I'm just passing that along.

    • @GrandPrixGTP02
      @GrandPrixGTP02  Před 7 lety +1

      I wouldn't trust the Rav4 in a crash though, just saying...having tested a ton of Toyota's products...they all seem to fold up like tin cans if they ever hit something. Subaru hasn't really had that issue recently.

    • @digitaltree515
      @digitaltree515 Před 7 lety +1

      Nontheless, the point was you touting the particular safety features on the top-trim Forester and stating other compact SUV's don't have them to your knowledge. Turns out, they do. And for one, it's not an extra cost.

    Would you recommend the 2017 Forester 2.0XT Touring or the 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring? Pretty torn between the two.

    • @GrandPrixGTP02
      @GrandPrixGTP02  Před 7 lety

      Depends on what you are using it for. The Forester provides standard AWD but still gets very good mileage for the fact its a turbo engine. The Mazda is FWD from the factory, but can get AWD as an option. Space wise, the Forester feels taller than the Mazda and the Mazda's more rounded. If you want speed, Forester XT all day long, but you're right, its a close call.

    • @brianmustee2279
      @brianmustee2279 Před 7 lety

      I would be using the car mainly for commuting to and from work and typical city driving, but I also enjoy road tripping, camping and hiking. I want the car to be comfortable, fun to drive, spacious, and have off-road capabilities.

    • @GrandPrixGTP02
      @GrandPrixGTP02  Před 7 lety

      I would say Forester XT all the way then. The Mazda's AWD is based more on a FWD set up whereas the Forester XT's AWD is set up to be 4WD system from the factory.

    • @youmongrel
      @youmongrel Před 7 lety

      Even if you never feel the need for speed around town, the turbo is GREAT on road trips because of how easily you can pass people even at highway speeds. I made a 7 hour road trip through the mountains a couple weeks ago in my 14XT and the confidence was inspiring. It's not a perfect car, but it's probably the most well rounded and capable - the exception being its 1500 pound tow limit (not because of its power, but due to the CVT transmission's tow braking I guess).
