- Traditionally, #plantain and/or #banana suckers are #propagated by extracting them from one field to another. This method lends itself to two weaknesses: (a) diseases and pests are spread and (b) large quantities of planting materials are not easy to acquire within short intervals.
There are two major methods of #plantain or #banana #sucker #multiplication or #propagation: (i) #invitro and (ii) #invivo
#InVitro #Techniques make use of laboratories wherein cells are cultured to produce plantlets. This is quite expensive.
#Invivo techniques have to do with bending the #pseudostem and #decapitation. There is a great problem of disseminating diseases and pests if the mother plants are infested, but not treated with chemicals.
#Invivo #horticulturaltechniques of #propagation are used to avoid major loopholes inherent in above techniques.
These include:
i) #Multiplication of #decorticated stem and
ii) #PIF = #Plants#issued from #stem#bits (Plants Issue de #Fragments de #tiges)
Here, we use #plantain#buds, #dormant#suckers, #sword#suckers as well as #maiden#suckers to rapidly propagate clean #banana/plantain #plantlets.
In this video, we demonstrate how young #plantain or #banana #plantlets are #reactivated to produce more
wow ! the is the best video and technique I have seen so far in my 30 years experience here in Venezuela South America . Thanyou so much my dear friend!
Thanks for for comments. Please try it out and let's get your experience out there in Venezuela
Wow thank you so much I just had a contract to multiply 4000 of them but I never knew there was a methought like this .
Thanks for compliments. In fact the PIF method is such a great technique that allows you to rapidly multiply homogenous plantlets which are also true to type
Very good video
Thank you for encouragement
Thank you sir
We are grateful
thank you sir i love banana so i hvae it but up till know i didn't eat any
is getting long time before fruiting will this tachqniqe makes is fruiting in a short time??
Thanks for complements. This technique is to have many plants only
The simplest explanation I have gone through. Sir how long does it take for new plants to sprout after reactivation
Averagely in 4 weeks depending on your temperatures and moisture content as well
