How Does SpaceX Build Their Rockets

  • Just last month, Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully achieved the landmark technical feat of being the first privately-owned company to deliver human beings to the International Space Station, on one of it’s celebrated Falcon 9 rockets.
Experts reckon this marks the start of what could be a golden age of space exploration, as independent actors, free from the shackles of unpredictable public finances or whims of whoever happened to win the last election, can accelerate makinds’ long-promised progress out into the stars.
But how did SpaceX actually do it? Through brilliant engineering knowhow, of course, and a cost-conscious, business minded strategy. So today we’re examining the question - how does SpaceX build their rockets?

I thought it was a pretty snappy vignette... but I was hoping they would close on a sub-segment all about SpaceX's iterative design philosophy, starting with their pioneering approach to rapidly printed 3D parts for design testing during Falcon 1 through 9 development and culminating with their production schedule of SN prototypes and, more impressively, their raptor production pace.

A similar thing happens with Elon. He is great at engineering but i suspect that he does not have a P.Eng designation and so with something as safety critical as a human-carrying spacecraft he cannot approve his own design.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences appreciates deeply your explanations about how SpaceX's fin grids operate and landing techniques, as well. Nevertheless, we'll keep on trying to hack Space X's computers. Just leave the backdoors ajar like Lockheed always does.

Is it possible to drill a vertical hole of X number of meters and use the hyperloop technology to avoid completely or combine with the existing rocket fuel to make it cheaper and lighter in weight. Fuel would then only be necessary for one last lift up
