I really enjoyed this video , as I really felt the true feeling of being at local Singapore Hawker centre , with really nice Uncles and Aunties working hard as they usually do ... Thankyou I've Subscribed
I feel hopeful about the world because I can travel with you to all these different places. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
It's a rainy morn today..
Hope you're having a relaxing walk somewhere.. look forward to relaxing with your walks 😌
This is one underrated hawker centre. The food here is astounding. The dim sum at the old coffee shop is among the best in S'pore.
Its like this episode that im grateful to u on behalf of these hawkers that u bring attention to this place where no one would hv known if no one went filming. Ckn rice owner service oriented n everyone so humble and polite.
Sometimes it ain't as glamours as one would imagine of hawker centres.. it could just be a few customers here and there in the mornings.. chicken rice stall had his 4yo kid sitting with mom at a nearby table.. I felt compelled to try his chicken rice.. and not go only for those popular stalls.. I wish them well
@@Piggypuggy i could feel the lack of patronage for his ckn rice from the short feature of the owner. I hope after this video is out, ppl give his a try and that he can give his family a better life
Wah the kwey chap looks so good!! And you are wearing a white T Shirt!! Clean eater...no splatter😅😅😅
seeing piggypuggy was literally shaking while handling the food, the kway chap definitely looked good!
& thanks for sharing this hidden gem!
Haha.. shaky hands..
thanks for supporting our hawkers 😊
You been to Jalan kukoh?
Also another hard to find hawker centre.
czcams.com/video/a_nPSOvsjmg/video.html
Tanjong Rhu used to be ship repair base in the old day, also one of the disembarkation point for charcoal. There is another obscure hawker centre behind this HDB estate, across the river. This hawker centre I think was founded pre-PAP, in the fifties 😮
There is still another tiny canteen beside the river near tg rhu. I’m completely oblivious of what this area used to be when I was a kid.. Changi Airport wasn’t even built. East Coast was already like a field trip 😂
Thanks Bro for sharing this Kway chap…I’m a fond lover for this dish…this dish originated from Swatou China..I was there before Covid, please do go there to taste the root of kway Chap..you will be stunned and speechless…
Wow...love the chicken rice..will go these days to support him and the rest of the stalls too..thanks for finding this gem
That sliced chicken thigh looked delicious juicy indeed!
Thank you 😊
Love your style of video
Thank you Jimmy 😊
24:50 I think I would choose the '(5) Spinach Healthy Soup'. Nice video!
Spinach soup came about in the 90s..
Started off with a stall on a Pedestrian bridge in our central biz district area.. it became a hit and popularised itself into a new entry to our hawker food fare
@@Piggypuggy It reminds me of a soup I usually make, the base is a chicken broth and I put lots of vegetables in it ;-)
Indeed very unassuming as it is totally blocked by the 1 or 2 petrol kiosks if you view it from the main road. The vibe is totally opposite from Old Airport Rd Hawker Centre not far away. Couldnt think of outstanding stalls there. Chicken rice stall, western food stall, zhicha stalls and a coffee&toast shop seem quite popular though.
wah the kway chup stall reminiscent of the old kway chup stall set up in the 80s and 90s , an organized chaos food panel of great ingredients. not many kway chup stalls have this type of setup liao
Jln Batu? Doesn’t look like among the list of 27 local hawker ctr with increasing conservancy😮 (but then old airport also not being listed pheww)
My young day in the 70” .. My dad and my uncle owned a factory there, they are dealing with ship engines and repairing services as well..they work with Japanese. Those day that area is a seaside. And further down that area .. there is a Tanjong Rhu Girl’s School. And a few blocks of no room flats. A whole area is filled with kampung spirits and if they have the 7th month ghosts festival..many ge~tai. The first Tanjong Rhu Baos from there.
Thank you so much for sharing these insights.. I was a kid when Singapore started reclaiming land.. never ventured too far out to explore Singapore in those days. It's really shocking to know how much of Singapore is reclaimed land. The whole east coast park.. there was no tg rhu condos.. if only everyone would share their old photos to some national archive
Wait what, are there spirits roaming about in East Park, the spirits of the mariners drowned there when it was still a sea?
The kopi uncle's daughter's stall in Odeon Katong sells very solid food. You should go try.
I was googling it and it does make me wanna go whack some 😂 looks good indeed
Piggypuggy, you've made me a bit nervous about not knowing EVERY hawker centre in Singapore. I'm relying on you to fill me in on where to go when I'm there in early 2024. Hmm, except for the pork belly, I won't be eating anything at the pig guts stall. I'm sure the meat is delicious but I can't face organ meats. However that noodle mee overflowing in the taste of lard and special chili sauce looks perfect to me. How the hell do the owners work so hard, especially at their ages, and charge so little for the food? And as you've mentioned in other videos, most of them stay so cheerful. They are very special people. They are the type of people who made Singapore the success it is. They really are.
In short.. hawkers used to be a way of life.. to support themselves and not earn big money.. which explains why many are reluctant to increase price as they thought it wouldn't be fair to their loyal customers. You might still find some of these old school hawkers in the suburbs and outskirts of Singapore. They're in their 60s to 80s.. the last of SINGAPORES true hawkers
@@Piggypuggy I am so sad this food culture will disappear. But perhaps some younger ones will continue the great dishes of the past, perhaps for some more money?
@@Piggypuggy19:00
Don't say you don't eat. These innards make well are very delicious. Just like I don't eat chicken feet, make so well by one noodle store, we order by the bowl everytime we goes there, then slowly I eat others store and put in the soup boil soft 2 hours, dip with light soy sauce fried garlic and a dash of pepper powder.
I went there because of this video. Totally unknown to me even though I passed by the place many times. There is a Cordon Bleu trained western food stall owner you missed. I think you went there during his break.
Yeah.. I was looking for it but didn’t see it.
Maybe they’re open later in the day 😄
Kampong Arang or Jalan Batu near Tanjong Rhu.
Sadly the fish ball noodles besides the wanton noodles stall is not open when you visited
Greetings from US. That plate of pork with intestines looked insanely delicious.
You spent quite a while at the kway chap stall ah. Also has a lion share of the video but must admit it is good. If not wrong, there is a char kway keow stall too. You should visit again as quite a number of stalls were closed when you visited.
Only $4.30 😂
ALot of stalls were closed..
Is it more of a night time hawker centre?
Uncle piggypuggy so friendly 👍🏻
Planning back to vacation in singapore for the second time, best hawker place to eat? Were acctually staying in jurong west, any recommendation there?
Jurong is an adventure for me.. coz it's very far from where I live. You can check out my Taman Jurong video and the one of Boon Lay Place last week.. I think there's 1 or 2 more I haven't visited. Welcome back to Singapore 😊
@@Piggypuggy There is one at Teban Gardens.
Cheap, the boss very friendly,. 😋👍
Would love to open my own hawker stall
Another hidden one is jalan kukoh hawker centre
Yeah.. you can watch it here.
Went there couple of months ago

Chicken when just 'under cooked' tastes delicious BUT especially in warm-hot climate (or later in afternoond when ch icken has been sitting in warm conditions, ideal conditions for the bacteria Campylobacter to flourish causing intense belly pain and the bacteria resides in intestinal walls causing gut inflammation, nutrients malabsorption, intermittent diarrhoea/constipation, reducing body's immune system)
Some people go on to develop 'leaky gut syndrome', Crohn's disease. Perhaps local people have an immunity cos they're used to it from childhood but hsve seen in others where they're lived for decades overseas, then suddenly suffering Campylobacter infection. For people who may have weak gut system, be better (though may not always be so nice their chicken rice,,) to eat at top end restaurant, also food hygiene much better
What does the “Self-service” sign mean? I saw it on a lot of the stalls. If they are serving you food/drinks, what exactly is being self served?
Hawkers used to bring out the food to your table.. it was only in the 90s that someone started this "self service" meaning you'll have to collect your food from the stall
@@Piggypuggy Ah, makes sense. Thanks
There is so little green in Singapore's hawker centers.
❤
1 set of kway chap at only $2.50?? Seriously, what are the ingredients in this set??? Nowadays, kway chap price starts at $4.50/set.
👍👍👍
Thanks
The wan tan mee look delicious, 😋
It’s quite unique.. like a pimped up version..
I think HK has something similar to it too
Big portion of noodle 👍😂
Món này ngon lắm ban 🌼🌼🌼🌻🌻
Thank you 😊
I bought a house nearby to eat here often plus old airport road
Waaahh.. lifestyle 😄👍🏼
Food here is not too bad.
👍👏🌟🖖🇸🇬
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Chandra 😊
Would hawkers from Malaysia will the vacancies if no Singaporeans take the jobs on?
As of today.. Johor is facing a huge problem with shortage of cooks.. they've all been poached by Singapore post covid. Every restaurant here is frantically trying to hire malaysian cooks. Salary can easily be $4-5000 given that base pay for helpers starts at 2800. 5000 is now RM17,200! No restaurant in Malaysia can match the salary here
@@Piggypuggy Wah Liao lah! That's a lot of money
👍👍👍💪💪💪
Love your emoticons 🥳
Sg alot of hawker to explore should go all one by one to explore and intro
You can find maybe 50% or more with my channel.. been doin it for almost 3 years 😂
@@Piggypuggy nice... ya lots of hidden hawker in SG

She already made it so clear that she need help why u don’t go order a plate of rice and lunch in with her?😂😂
Hahaha.. I already 90% there liao.. anymore will Thor
Want to die is it, wear white to eat kway 😂 so courageous
Either kenna Piak with black sauce or chilli 🌶️ sauce 🤣
@@Piggypuggy It does amaze me how you manage to keep your clothes so clean when eating this delicious stuff!
This is so unfair. When im like “wah so cheap n kwaychap so much ingredient i want to go eat” then i realised its on the east side, and my nearest hawker centre mei ling dont even hv a kway chap never mind nice or not
Travel a bit to havelock..
This Convent garden kway chap very old

@@Piggypuggy thanks for the recommendation. For u ill go try this out
下次问小贩的名字,应该问:老板贵姓?人家回应时不会太错愕!哈哈
Oh.. 老板贵姓… 👌🏼 明白明白 😄
谢谢老师
The kway chap have thin kway teow and thin yellow noodles? I don't like the thick ones
He should improve on the char siew side. The rest is ok
$2.50 for Kway Chap?! Wow 😮😮😮
Unimaginable... Especially when these needs be prepared hours in advance for customers as early as 630am.. nobody from this generation would want a life like that 😅
@@Piggypuggy yeah I dun even know there’s one there either… would imagine Old Airport Rd hawker is the only one they have…
Wah, when were you there? I went on Tuesday morning to eat the wonton mee. Haven't tried the kway chap yet, my stomach not as big as yours. The economy bee hoon is also very cheap, lots of foreign workers buy from them too.
Haha.. I was thinking of Tue.. then I dragged till Thursday. I'll try the corner chicken rice cully PNG next time.
Eat kway chap never order the salted vegetables??
Yes, indeed this hawker ctr hidden inside the HDB blks...
Super obscure right? 😂
You'd have to drive a big round to get to the carpark
@@Piggypuggy yes man, you are rite..😁
12:27 Billion dollar global insight - feedback to global content creators on food to not video themselves adding pepper or soy sauce onto the freshly prepared hawker dish or restaurant dish as it indirectly communicate to the audience that the dish is not delicious and requires additional artificial seasoning.
